my idea would be a cig a like. more like a real one, and that in itself has gotten millions off the stinkies. smokeless image has starter kits very inexpensive compared to blu or the other gas station types. the joyetech eroll has high praises also. do all the reading for newbys here, but don't get overwhelmed. jump on over to smokeless image and keep it simple at first...all you need is a cig a like for now probably....you will want more later, but lets get you off the others first. let us know what you think you might like and we can advise you from there. best of luck and welcome to ecf and your vaping journey.
welcome to ECF i suggest getting a cig like kit to have for all time use like when your out and about and maybe someting with a larger battey for when your at home. I just started with a V2 kit and then bought a Kgo for at home.
when i started i just skipped the cig-a-likes because a lot of people testified that some time you are going to want to mess with variable voltage or get something with more kick.
i'd say go with a couple of ego twists and a tank or two, vivi nova or evod or even a protank.

Main question to ask you first? How important is it that your batteries look like or be the same size as a cigarette?

As someone already pointed out, the "cigalikes" have gotten many smokers off of cigarettes successfully. However, because of their small battery, they only hold a charge for 3 - 4 hours each. That means needing a few of them available to last out a day, and spending your evenings recharging them. They also are limited to just a couple of juice delivery devices (the parts that hold the nicotine e-liquid and produce the vapor).

Going with the larger "ego" size batteries will increase battery time from 6 - 13 hours depending on their length, and opens up more options in juice delivery devices. This would be the option to use various types of "tanks" which allow larger quantities of juice to be used without the need to refill them throughout the day.

Whether you go with the cigarette size batteries or the larger ego size batteries, you will need to have multiple batteries, a charger, an usb/wall unit to use the charger away from a computer, and multiple "toppers" or juice delivery devices to use on the batteries. The juice devices only last 1-3 weeks each, so you need extras.

You will need e-liquid containing nicotine. This liquid comes in different strengths of nicotine depending upon how heavy of a smoker you were. A typical 1 ppd smoker will require 24 mg strength nicotine.
These come in a variety of flavors, just don't expect one to taste like a tobacco cigarette, there isn't one. Although e-cigarettes mimicks smoking in some respects, it IS different. Regardless of the flavor(s) that you end up with, you'll still be getting the nicotine you need from the vapor. Try a variety of flavors until you find some favorites.
There are sometimes options in the blend of liquid used as the base (Pg and Vg), starting off just get the 50/50 pg/vg if given that option.
Most vapors consume 3 - 6 ml of juice a day, so figure appropriately when ordering or purchasing juice. Juice flavors are very subjective in what one person may like or dislike. I recommend getting several smaller size bottles in different flavors to determine what flavor you will like, and later purchasing a larger quantity once you've found a flavor you like.

Maybe you should first go to a store to get a general idea and maybe try.
To purchase products... prices are better at online shops.

I started with cig look alike from convenience store, ordered Halo G6 start up kit, went to ego batterys with 510 threading (due to more available options for tanks and etc - I use the G6 for social use in public - has kr808 threads so it is not interchangable with 510 threading but I did find a cheap ($7.50) rechargable look alike at local store that does use 510 threading - brand name was clayton, and the kit looks like a pack of cigarettes), got vivi nova tanks, and just ordered a bunch of stuff to try creating my own juice.

I agree, as a newbie, I got the EGO-C kit with the ego twist and and a vivi-nova, love it!
I started with a cig-a-like and couldn't stick with it. Since getting my ego twist it's been easy. Variable voltage was a key for me to get the TH I needed. I'd recommend a ego twist or vision spinner with a vivi nova mini tank to get you started.

Good luck!I started with an ego 900 mAh passthrough, that way I could use it while it charged if needed, so only 1 battery to start. The CE5 clearomisers are not bad but tend to leak after a while. I like the vivi nova tanks, you loose a little flavor but they vape like crazy. Just got an EVIC and, oh man, the difference (VV&VW). But whatever keeps you off the analogs is awesome. VAPE ON!
I gotta chime in with hvac999. I tried a Blu (before I found ECF) then switched but kept trying to do the "just like a cigarette" thing until I gave in and got a Twist. I'd have saved a lot of time and money if I'd found ECF first and got one like hvac999 pointed you to. Nice kit. Basically the kind I'm working toward now (having spent so much the first two rounds, I'm buying parts and pieces that'll put me more or less where that kit would have started me at).
