Hello everyone,

I am new here and only been vaping about a week now. My husband and I were both smoking a pack a day and decided to give vaping a shot. I really love it and so far I am feeling much better and I love the fact that I can do it at my desk instead of having to go downstairs(even though I do that from time to time just to get away) We started off with a basic CE4 starter kit but we have both already been through 2 tanks because of cracking and now I am looking at a protank for both of us so that maybe it will last longer. Anyways just wanted to say hello.

Welcome and congrats for making the right decision!

I don't know if you are aware of it, but some juices can crack plastic tanks... Dunno if that is what happened or not just pointing it out.

The protank is a good tank but I think that there are better ones out now. I am a little out of the clearo tank game, I will let more knowledgeable people recommend good clearos.

Happy to have you on board.

Thank you!

Honestly I think it is my menthol juice and him overtighting. I am still trying to figure out all of the set ups and options out there now. There are a ton of them.

Tons of options? No.... You mean that there are metric craptons of options. We use the metric system in vaping :D

Hi and Welcome!

Be careful overtightening the tanks - you will loosen and push down the pin in the battery and you will have to constantly pull it up to get it to fire until it gives up (my OH has issues with wrenching down his tanks - you would think he were bolting together a safety harness that his life depended on!!) A good rule of thumb is JUST finger tight - it isn't necessary to get them super tight and it wears down the battery connection.

Maybe get an assortment of a few tanks to try. Read through the forums you will see a post on about any tank you can imagine!! Major tank crackers are citrus, cinnamon, cola and cherry. If you arent using one of those you dont HAVE to use glass- but you may find that you prefer it!

Also - drink lots and lots of water, vaping can be very dehydrating!!

Congrats on the journey! Have fun with it :p

Greetings Taztabboo, and welcome to the forum.

LOL, this is one of the beauties of e-cigs, of course: you can do it at your desk, but when you need a break, you can claim that you have to 'step out for a vape.' Talk about having your cake and eating it. No one has caught on yet at my office.

The Protank is very popular (version 2 at least), good luck!

Regards
Glenn

Hi, welcome to ECF.

Congrats to both of you on quitting! I definitely recommend the Protank 2, they are fantastic (at least my experiences with them have been great). As I'm sure you have already figured out, strong juices will crack plastic tanks, and since the PT are made of Pyrex, that problem goes away, although dropping will still cause breakage :)

Also, as I see in the current replies, don't ever over tighten things, it causes real issues. Any part of a vaping setup that is designed to be screwed together ONLY needs to be snug enough to not come apart. When you over tighten, it can cause things to break, leak, or stop working... As always though ... YMMV!

Hello and welcome to ECF. This is a little off topic, but I see you do not have a banner yet. These banners will automatically keep track of your progress in quitting. I'm sure you have seen them on theres posts. Get one and it will help keep you and your husband on track. When I had a weak moment, I looked at that banner and said to myself, "I don't want to screw this up".

WELCOME TO THE VAPING WORLD!!!

In my opinion the Protank is a little dicey for beginners. Its a great tank don't get me wrong. There is however the fact that it is 5 separate pieces that all need to be taken apart and maintained very well, and the Protank coils seem fluctuate in quality from one to the next. Also many vapers (Including Myself) seem they need to modify the wicks (take one out, too much for my 70%VG) or block airways to lessen airflow since the Protank has a definite "airy" draw. These are all things that I deal with because yes the Protank can hit very well! These are also things that may scare a new vaper off from trying new products or scare them off into vaping all together. I would say try to stay clear of the Citrus, or Cinnamon as much as you can but if you love those flavors and want a glass tank I think a pyrex Mini Nova is a little more fitting for a beginner.
