Welcome to both you and your husband. I agree with many I use both depending on the situation. Can't beat an auto for hands free vaping... then the manual gives you a little more feeling of control. I do tend to use manuals with the carts I refill just because I don't trust myself:) Best of luck and don't ever worry about asking a question....we love to share our knowledge (makes us feel important:p

On the auto manual subject. I have 5 autos and they work good for me. Some carts are less powerfull or what ever the technical reason but I will soon get manuals just for the heck of it. But I think autos are great. they give lots of vapor and th for me. Prime puff helps if its not working good sometimes. I notice alot of differences in the carts from one to another. I notice you have to break in a cart to get it to work well. theres a sweet spot from new/refilled to empty.

all this talk of vaping. got to go puff. be back later...

Welcome Neketa318, great to 'meet' you. I'm curious, what length auto batteries did you get? I use shorty autos myself. I did receive some XLs as a replacement once, and don't get on with them at all. I cannot get the throat hit or flavour, and feel I have to work really hard to get much out of them. I haven't tried the regular length. I have tried a Shorty Manual, but to me it's no better than the Auto, without the convenience.

Diamond Series Auto Shorties deliver what I need. I do not feel the need to take a short 'priming' puff, nor do I need to take very long, slow drags. I get what I need in around 2-3 seconds. With cigarettes I liked a few short, sharp drags before settling into relaxed, long puffs and when stressed I'm the same with my e-cigs.

Many of us here have experimented quite a bit before finding our ideal set up. I hope you find what works for you quickly. Look forward to hearing of your adventures in Vape-land.

Welcome Neketa! I prefer manual over auto, whether it be my car or my PV. Right now I have 2 regular auto batteries and they don't get much action. I like the manuals because I have more control (car or PV) and more vapor (PV only). I got to use my manual pass-through recently while driving across the entire southern shore of your state and it was Maaaaahvelous! It's a must for an extended drive.

To see what all the hubbub is about, I do plan to acquire a diamond series auto battery in 2011. :2cool:

Well hi there Neketa! As you can tell from reading all the great input here, it's a matter of preference. My starter kit was regular length manuals. I also ordered XL manuals. Love 'em! Then tried the new diamonds, which for now are only available as autos. They're OK. Tried the new stealth too. Love it. Still my "go to" batts are my manuals. Is it a control thing? I don't know. I just know I end up using them! Plus I have 2 manual pt - 1 in the car and 1 by the computer. I tell everybody that I have more paraphanalia than a crack head! I like the experimentation of it all. It takes my mind off the analogs. When you find your go-to flavors, strengths and batts, it is bliss!!! Not to mention the health thing. Sorry for the long post....Carry on!

I just got my manual today and I LOVE it. Let me say I have been vaping for about a week now. The first 6 days I didn't like the autos. I actually lost both of them = ( I was smoking about 4-6 analogs a day and by the 4 days ( I had lost all my batts) I was smoking about 10 cigs a day. Since I got my manual batt & my WOW carts ( I love the flavor!!) I have only smoked 2 analogs. I am noticing that when I light an analog, I put it out after like 3 puffs and light up my e cig instead. So I am seeing a decrease in even wanting an analog.

I recommend everyone to get the manual batt & the WOW carts. I am going to try out my drip tip tomorrow and see if I get more flavor and vapor like the people have stated.

Good morning, everyone! Thought I'd check back in and let you know I'm doing much better thanks to all the wonderful tips! Right now I'm borrowing hubby's manual to use with my Cowboy cool cart, and that works very well (that one is a XL). But during the day when I'm at work, I prefer to be less obvious so I use my shorty Diamond. With that one, I use my Wowboy and seem to have better luck. I am careful about how I screw the cart on, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of the long slow drag. Today is Day 4 with no analogs and I think I'm going to be just fine now, thanks to all your help!

Have a wonderful day! :)

Hello everyone. I am new to both this forum and to vaping, and hoping to find some help here. Let me introduce myself quickly. :)

I have been a smoker for over 20 years now, and have wanted to give it up for some time. I've tried all kinds of methods - patches, gum, cold turkey, Chantix (never do that again!), but nothing works. None of those methods replace the physical aspects. A few months back, I was chatting wit a friend and she suddenly whipped out her e-cig. I had never seen one or even heard of one before, so I was amazed! She was very happy with hers and was completely off analogs.

After spending alot of time researching vaping, and hesitating to make the jump, my husband suddenly decided that he wanted to make the switch. We both ordered our V4L kits (after reading so many good things in this forum about V4L), and received them on Friday of last week. He has had tremendous luck - he took to it immediately! I, however, have been up and down (which I expected). I do enjoy it but still feel like I'm missing something.

When we ordered, he got the manual batteries, but I opted for the Diamond autos. After a few days of my being frustrated by not enjoying things so much, my husband finally suggested I try his manual and wow - HUGE difference! I suddenly am enjoying vaping so much more using his manual battery! More vapor, more flavor, more TH, just more everything!

So my question is this - and hoping I don't sound ridiculous  - before I jump in and buy a manual, does anyone have any tips on using an auto? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi Neketa, glad to hear things are going better. I read this tip in the V4L forum a while ago, and thought I would pass it on.

When I first started vaping about a month ago (with auto batteries) I was inhaling the vapor directly into my lungs just like I do with analogs. I would get a nice throat hit, but didn't seem to be getting much vapor and I didn't feel the effects of the nicotine until after I had been vaping for five or ten minutes nonstop. Then I read a post here which suggested that the nic from vaping was absorbed more quickly by the tissues in the mouth than by the lungs, due to the lack of other chemicals that are present in analogs which speed the delivery of nic through the lungs.

After reading that I tried to only fill my mouth with vapor instead of drawing directly into my lungs. I inhaled the vapor into my mouth, held it in my mouth for maybe five or six seconds, then sucked the vapor into my lungs for a few seconds, and exhaled. I repeated this process six or seven times, noticing that I was exhaling more vapor than when inhaling directly into my lungs, and went about my business.

10 minutes later I needed to lie down because the nic buzz hit me like a freight train.

I'm not sure what nic level you are using (you probably mentioned it somewhere, but I missed it), or what your nic tolerance is, but if you are inhaling directly into your lungs you may want to try keeping the vapor in your mouth instead. You'll definitely notice more vapor when you exhale, and you'll likely absorb more nic from each vape; you will also find that the flavor will be much more pronounced. However, I would recommend only vaping a few times like this at first, just to see how the nic affects you. I've noticed that it takes much longer to feel the affects of the nic with e-cigs than with analogs, so I would recommend vaping a few times and setting it down for 15 minutes. A nic overdose isn't much fun (at least for me).

Anyway, as others have stated, welcome to the forums. There are tons of helpful people here who can answer any e-cig question you throw at them and are glad to do it. Happy vaping!
