Hi all,

Newbie here. Been smoking way too long (pack a day, Winston Blue) decided to switch to vaping. Done a bit of research and decided (almost) on an Innokin VTR v.2 kit with the iClear 30S and an Aerotank as a spare clearomiser.

Only problem is, I currently live in Mauritius, where although cigs are only £2 a pack, I can't get any vaping supplies. So I'll be asking a friend to bring a load of stuff back for me from the UK. Could you guys help me out with a list of what you think I might need to keep me going for 'a while'...

I know it's really hard to guesstimate, but I can't get anything shipped over, because they seize it at customs, so I'll be relying on friends bringing it over from time to time. I'll probably need supplies for at least 2 months.

How much juice do you get through in a day? I know how long a pack of 20 lasts(!) but how long does a tank last? A day, half a day, a couple of hours? I'll probably have to buy a load of samples to see what I like in 24mg and 18mg strength. And maybe take pot luck with a few 10ml or 30ml bottles. How much juice do you think I should get to keep me going for 2 months?

How long do you find the dual coil head lasts? A few days, a week or longer? So how many spare atomiser heads should I get? I like the reviews of the iClear 30S and the Aerotanks. I've seen a couple of vids of people doing rebuilds on the dual coils -- or would I be better off putting in older single coils that might be easier to rebuild? Can I do that? Or are there any 'better' attys for the VTR?

Any insights, comments, and opinions most welcome!

Shopping list so far:
  • VTR v2 with iClear 30S
  • Aerotank v2
  • 2 x Efest IMR 18650 V2 2000 mah batteries
  • Nitecore charger
  • 5 spare Upgraded Kanger Dual Coil Heads (a few bad reviews of these on myepack.co.uk in terms of quick burnout. Any thoughts on these?)
  • or 5 spare regular Kanger Dual Coil Heads
  • 5 spare iClear 30 Dual Coil Heads
  • 28mm Kanthal
  • Lots of juice
  • A little more juice
  • Maybe just one more bottle!

Anything else I might have missed?

Thanks guys. Looking forward to being a happy vaper in a few weeks!

I live in Saint Martin and have to bulk purchase every chance I get. Biggest problem would be running out of juice. You can find what you like most and order 30ml or even 100ml bottles-least thats what I did. I got into building my own coils and wicks so a couple of rebuildables might suit you. Bet you can find cotton growing right by you in Mauritius( enough to last a lifetime ) Just boil it first and dry it well!! I got all my gear from UKecigstore in Wembley Park.

The vtr is good but maybe a bit heavy for out and about. Since you are using clearomizers, why not pick up some twist/ego battery's and a car charger too!!!

Good luck

Thanks juicynoos. Good advice. How's Saint Martin?

Hmm, looking now at the DNA 30 clone instead of the VTR, with a couple of rebuildables... The Kayfun and R91 seem to have good reviews. Though I dunno if that's going to be way too advanced for me, or whether I need that much power.

I prefer a more compact box style mod that's easy to carry around and will last me a day without recharging. Don't care about clouds of vape, just want a good throat hit and to get my dose of nicotine. Lol

Too darn hot!! Still, should be grateful for the calm cyclone season. How's Mauritius, you got that Chik virus there?

yeah, was going for the vtr myself but glad I didn't. It only allows you to use tanks/clearo's up to 17mm I think. You can check the specs, and is a beast to carry around for your all day vape! Vapes real good though apparently.

If you can do a simple 1-1.5ohm single coil build, a Kayfun, R91% are perfect when out all day and have been around along time. If you don't want to build, that's a pity. 1st it's fun and 2nd, atty's work much better with non-factory made coils and wicks.

Box mods are all about power and currently they range from 50watts and up up uupp. I grabbed an MVP v2 for convenience, with a max of 11 watts I get good TH and flavor. It holds an all day charge plus has a pass-through so you can hit on it while it is charging from your pc.
At home I use a few mech mods and one is a Kato box mod-that's what I got instead of the vtr.

If you do decide on a KF or 91%, add wick, wires, ohms reader and bigger drip tip to your list,,,vape on!!

Hi all,

Newbie here. Been smoking way too long (pack a day, Winston Blue) decided to switch to vaping. Done a bit of research and decided (almost) on an Innokin VTR v.2 kit with the iClear 30S and an Aerotank as a spare clearomiser.

The VTR is very heavy... It weighs almost 1 lb. Are you aware of that? Have you looked at other mods?

How much juice do you get through in a day? I know how long a pack of 20 lasts(!) but how long does a tank last? A day, half a day, a couple of hours? I'll probably have to buy a load of samples to see what I like in 24mg and 18mg strength. And maybe take pot luck with a few 10ml or 30ml bottles. How much juice do you think I should get to keep me going for 2 months?

Very hard to tell--3-5 ml is common. Depending on strength and your vaping habits. More if you're using dual coil atomizers.

Kanger coils are easy to clean and rebuild. I don't rebuild, but my coils last me for weeks.

I'd buy AW IMR batteries--much better than Efest. If you can find them. More about batteries:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-9-battery-basics-mods-imr-protected-icr.html

I can't tell the difference between Aerotank coils--both kinds work for me. Try both kinds--or get whatever's cheaper. I love my Aerotanks.

Juice--have you tried it before? There's nothing more depressing than a 60 ml of juice you can't vape...

Anything else I might have missed?

Thanks guys. Looking forward to being a happy vaper in a few weeks!

Good luck!

Welcome to ECF lets break it down a little bit to see what you want to do.

1) I wouldn't bother rebuilding kanger tanks. They are fantastic tanks but the refills are cheap enough and the fidgeting with the small amounts of cotton and coil connections doesn't seem worth it to ME ( I capitalize me because that is just me.) Refill coils can last a week to two weeks with light juice and proper voltage.

2) I wouldn't get a VTR unless I was going to murder someone with it. Look at the DNA 30 mods out there that provide a box style but that also provide usb pass-through charging and are very light. I personally don't like EGO's but a lot of people do I think that might be a better than a VTR. Trust me when I say its heavy. I cannot express how heavy this thing is. Had one and don't miss it.

3) Battery choice is mid range which is good and I personally used those exact batteries for more than a year.

4) I would suggest getting your hands on maybe one Kayfun or Russian (or its equivalent) as a rebuildable device you can work on with your kangers to fall back on. I THINK you will find yourself immersed in the fun of building (there will also be some rage!)

5) If you take my advice and get yourself a kayfun/ Russian 91 (you can thank me later) having 100ft of 28g kanthal will last you a while. As will a medium size bag of cotton. As you perfect your craft you are going to go through some gear.

6) You will also need reliable scissors, wire cutters, square nose pliers (for squeezing coils).

Best of luck (I know I missed something and someone is going to yell at me)

p.s. ya lots of juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VAPE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yo there, I am from Mauritius too and been vaping for about 2 years, at the same time having quited cigarette for about 2 years too.
If ever you want to try some cigarette before buying you can just give me a call. I have been through all the shifts that vapers do I have with me a huge personal stock of e cigarette from ego type to vv mode VTR, SVD to mechanical mode 18650 and 26650 all the way, and my sigelei 100 w raptor box mod is on the way, and tank as per cleartomiser, cartomiser, to the kayfun, russian, rose type to the dripping type atomiser, you name the most popular types and i have most of them. just be careful with the e juice with nicotine, its not allowed in Mauritius, if they see it they,ll block it at the customs.

So give me a call during the day on 52566215 if you want before deciding on what you wana get and how to get going in Mauritius.

Thanks for all your input & advice, guys. Really useful...

+Katya: Re. Weight of the VTR - not until I took 1lb of butter outta the fridge! Lol. Might be a bit heavy...

+juicynoos: the Rogue mod looks nice... Also now looking at the Cloupor DNA 30 mod and the IPV2... Too many choices!

Good advice, Blaron. Well noted.

+sparhawk: Fantastic! I'll give you a call this week... I live in Tamarin. Where are you based?
Yes, I heard about the e-juice not being allowed...

Thanks all!

Oh yeah, I got it thru a co-op, should be a game changer, I've always been a Mech guy but I'm getting sick of polishing tubes n buttons all the time. I am building a bottom feeder with that dna 40 should be dope! I'll throw up pics as soon as I get the stuff...

BTW if you haven't tried a bottom feeder, you definitely need to. It's a whole different animal and imo they are unmatched, and I've got a lot of different setups..
