Hi guys

I'm a newbie (so please don't bite) to vaping. I've bought an Ego CE4 kit to get me started and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

I have an issue i'd like to share with you pro's... No matter what juice I use or how often I clean my cartomizors I get get really harsh burnt hits. Can anyone recommend an upgrade to the ones supplied? i'm just after solid performance. I started with VG but then quickly moved to PG as the thinner juice seemed to vape better. I've followed all the tutorials to no avail so now i'm guessing it's down to poor design or cheap quality :unsure:

Cheers, Martin

PS: Awesome forum :toast:

Welcome to ecf. No biting here. lol
Maybe try a different cartomizer/clearomizer. Sounds like the juice is not saturating the wicks. Don't keeping drawing on it constantly, the wicking cannot keep up. Try a clearomizer like an Innokin iclear16 or find one with a bottom coil like the mini protank 2.

let us know.

CE4 are a rather "generic" juice device which has been improved upon with the likes of a Vision Vivi Nova, Innokin iClear, or Kanger Protank. All three of those are later generation and should give a better vaping experience. You should also give a cartomizer a try. I suggest watching You Tube reviews for each of the above to see which best fits your expectations. Proper Terminology: Is it a carto, a tank or what?

Keeping the tank full helps.
A higher resistance coil will help too, but you won't get as much vapor.
I like the Vision vivi nova mini I got from altsmoke ($8 with 2 replacement heads). It's built better and doesn't come apart in your pocket. I'm using a 1.8 ohm coil. It works fine on a fixed battery. I use it on a twist and it works fine too, as long as I stay under 3.8 volts and don't go under 1/4 tank full of juice. I would recommend higher resistance on a VV battery like the twist. 1.8 ohms on a fixed battery.

Hi,
Just sharing some personal experiences here. I've had some trouble with the CEs and Vivi Novas myself as I couldn't get them to keep up with my vaping habits, tilting or not. It was either dry burnt hits or flooding, with little relief in between. But then again that's just me and there are plenty of people out there that are happily using them; just saying there is no such delivery system that's going to satisfy everyone everywhere. What I would recommend for starters, and has been my personal fail-safe, is the cartomizer tank system, which you can pretty much vape as hard as you want as gravity and negative pressure do all the work in keeping the coil saturated. Or, as mentioned above, any new generation bottom coil clearomizer - the Protank II, the Davide (which I got for a friend and has been his primary vape ever since) , the Aspire BDC - should perform good in terms of supplying a constant amount of juice to the heating element without having to worry about adjusting your pace or stance. Of course there will be issues with those as well but eventually you will find a system that suits you.
Good luck and happy vaping!

I would second that you also want to get some more experience vaping. It isn't like smoking. Most (myself included) drew way too hard and way to long when I started. My Protank 2 gave me fits, till I learned how to use it right. Also, if you are using a variable battery, try turning it down. I used to vape way too hot. After awhile, mostly due to the excellent advise from people like Baditude, I tried cartomizers and tanks and it has made all the difference. I cannot stress enough, however, that experience is key. Good luck and have fun!
