I read so much that my eyes crossed. I decided to just buy something that I thought was a good deal. I'm a pack a day smoker of menthol cigarettes. Purchased a eGo 900 mAH starter kit and a sample pack of juice. I've got the battery charging now...but what do I do after that? Since it's brand new, any precautions or anything special I should do? It's a dual coil and I see now that duals are not that great to have cause they can burn up. Any pointers appreciated...and very happy to have found you all here.

I understand how you feel... I started with the ciggie look alikes and had buddies that had the bigger devices... I finally broke down and got one at a local shop, took it to a nearby park, and sat there staring at it for awhile...

Should be easy enough to just fill it up and start vaping after the battery is charged... You can always Youtube search for your particular model of e-cig for helpful hints, or search on here too for that matter...

glad your here :) and welcome keep reading and slowly it will make sense all these terms and accessories. like was said look up some vids on how to fill your accessory (you didnt say which one you got but im assuming by dual coil you mean a cartomizer). everyone has a preference but a dual coil is def good enough to get you started in the right direction.

as for care/maintenance nothing special try not to get juice all over everything, unplug when done charging, not manditory but better safe then sorry. and enjoy.

What juice attachment are you planning to put your juice in? Cartomizer?

If you haven't viewed one yet, search for a You Tube video demo of how to fill your attachment. Then fill as shown. Then...vape. :vapor:

Slow gentle draws are recommended at first. No hard quick draws. Exhale some of the vape thru your nose to get the most flavor. We also "taste" through our sense of smell.

Drink plenty of water. Vaping can dehydrate you and give you a dry mouth/throat.

Vape as much as you desire or need to. When you feel the need for a cigarette, vape more frequently until the need passes.

It won't be the end of the world if you have an occassional cigarette during your first few days, but do try to resist. Eventually they will become less satisfying, and you will actually prefer the vape over the cigarette.

Don't be afraid to ask additional questions. What strength nicotine is in your juice?

A single coil cartomizer will be less of a drain on your battery, and may also be less harsh on your throat. The resistance ohm rating of the cartomizer can affect how harsh the vapor feels and affects if your vape will be hot, warm, or cooler.

i wouldn't say that dual coil cartos "burn up" as i've used them with much success in the past, if anything i'd consider them more sturdy than a single coil, although personally i prefer single coil....questions though, are they the MEGA dual coils that fit over the eGo outer threading? because those take a bit of patience to fill, as far as NORMAL sized duals, look up/try the condom fill method...it's simply superior to dripping in slowly.

Welcome to the world of vaping!
If you have some one close you know vapes make sure to chat to them, it is always good to have a local buddy for support. Make sure to carry a 20 oz bottle of water with you, vaping will dry you out. If you are trying your juices and they dont taste, let them set, steeping is the hardest part of vaping for me.

The best thing I can say is to make sure you don't get juice running into your battery by blowing the center tube clear after filling. And make sure you keep juice in your carts. If they start tasting burnt or not hitting as strong as normal, it's time to refill.

Don't worry, in less than a week you will almost be able to tell right before your carts need refilled. They will start hitting much weaker and you will taste it.

Best of luck to ya!

BUT....when I push the little button there is a hissing sound....IS THAT NORMAL? It's freaking me out!

K9Mom, Do not be alarmed by the popping and hissing sound.

A guy on YouTube by the name of Outlaw Vapor has some great videos about using ecigs, specifically the VOLTs. I'd highly recommend watching some of his videos. (even though they can be a bit long)

He explained the popping and hissing best by heating up a dry pot on the stove and splashing droplets of water in the pot. When a cool liquid hits hot metal it sizzles, and that is what is happening inside of your cartos. When the ejuice hits the hot heating coil it reacts just like the water in the pot.

I have actually come to look forward to the popping and sizzling sounds from a new carto. That's when ya know you're getting a primo vape!

I hope this helps!
