I'm only about 5 months into vaping but these companies (below) all offer the same cig lookalike type model (meaning a kr808 battery set up) and their cartomizers and batteries are mostly interchangeable:

Bloog
Smokeless Image (the volt)
Vapor 4 Life (vapor king)

Theres some others out there like Blu. I would go with one of the above and my personal recommendation is Vapor 4 Life. They have excellent customer service and the stuff is priced right. They also have frequent sales in the 20-30% off range. Like them on facebook and you can get access to that.

Note the current Vapor4life VaporKing are, I believe, standard (current generation) 808, not the new gen stuff represented by Bloog, Volt, NHaler's MF 808s. This certainly doesn't make it bad -- I've used multiple V4L batts, they were fine. When I recently bought a new 808 XL battery I actually bought it from litecigusa, best price point since I just wanted one auto XL battery. V4L is one of the vendors I commonly recommend for 808s, due to their frequent sales and decent products.

If you're in the Blu vs. Bloog mode, I'd also go with the Bloog, or, more specifically the next generation KR808D-1. Personally I was happy with standard 808s (actually, with 808 XL or Mega 380 mAh batteries).

Depending on price/lead time, for another next generation 808 you might look at NHaler's MF style 808 kits: KR808D-1 Products

NHaler's a solid vendor, coupon code SAVEINNJ.

As to auto vs. manual, frankly both have uses. I'm using manual variable voltage mods now, but the pv I keep for hands-free or inconspicuous use is a standard KR808D-1 auto XL. I get about 4-1/2 hours battery life, and as long as you are good about blowing out a carto onto a tissue to remove excess liquid before putting the carto on the battery, they seem to perform pretty well.

Good luck!

Have you used that code recently? I haven't been able to get it to work the last couple times I ordered from him.

After all of your input, I'm leaning towards a Volt KR808D! For $56 and some change, I can get 2 batteries, 10 cartomizers, charging cables, and a PCC (which I feel will make it easier to completely switch as I currently smoke about a pack a day and am sometimes away from home for 24 hours and away from the car for 8-12 hours at a time. I wouldn't need to worry about not having a charged battery). This is less than I spend in cigarettes a week! Therefore, if I at least don't smoke for a week, I won't be making a huge investment and won't really be out anything if I decide that I don;t like this ecig. Yes, dormouse, the "heatwave" coupon code does still work (which may also have something to do with my leaning towards the Volt) plus free shipping! I really like the design of Blu's PCC compared to BMF's because one can fit extra cartomizers along with two batteries. The Mega PCC that Volt has available also has this option, which, added to the MUCH lower price as opposed to BMF, puts Volt a head above the rest. Has anyone had any problems with KR808D style batteries (aside from shorting them out with juice, which I'm assuming is a problem when trying to refill an empty cartomizer????)?

Well, they don't last long. This is true of any mini battery. General rule of thumb is you get about 1 hour per 100 mah of continous vaping.

You should be OK with the cartos as long as you don't fill them on your battery. Make sure to wipe off the bottom and swab the charger occasionally with iso alcohol.

Error, save5 is the current generic CC for NHaler. Thanks for catching it :) (I ran a test cart, this is the new general code shown in NHaler's forum area.)

Thank you!! I'm ready to order juice. Since I'm in the same state I have to pay sales tax. At least the 5% will almost cover that.

extra emphasis on this if you choose auto batteries. make sure your cartos are not leaking whatsoever before screwing em in. getting juice in the connection end WILL kill your battery. i recommend the manual..but the autos do draw really nice if you suck on em "slowly" ..which takes a sec to get used to

1) I recommend the Bloog but if you have chosen the Volt that's cool
2) Bloog Cartos are the BEST for 808ds--use them for refills
3) Someone posted tip: just blow gently through the carto when you are done a couple of times to get the lingering dros and you won't burn out autos (unless you drink way too many beers like I did once dripping ;)

Blu is pricey. The Maxx is cheaper but you could go even less expensive by getting a KR808D-1 setup that doesn't have a name on it. That's what I use. It's the same thing as the Maxx or Volt it just doesn't have a name on it. That's kinda cool, 'cuz I ain't helping to line any company pockets by giving them free advertising.

All advertizing aside, have you checked the prices for Volt? They really are very reasonably priced, and they are the newer horizontal cartos.

lol...I see I responded to this a little to quickly
