Well, They folks who recommended the ego T as a place to start were on the money. After my fiasco with prosmoke I could not believe the difference. From the very start I got lots of nice warm good tasting vapor.

I now know what a throat hit is and what good vapor can taste like.

Thank you all.

Once I get up to speed I can try some other stuff like the LR cartomizers, but for now this is sooo much better than the disposables and the mini cigs I tried.

Howdy you-all,

Well, I got off the analogues using convenience store disposable e-cigs. Expensive and not easy considering the quality of the disposables.

Then I tried checking out the rating sites and got very confused. Each rating site seemed to like different products and companies. I think some of these sites must get paid by the suppliers?

Then I made the move and got a deluxe ProSmoke starter kit because it was the size of the disposables and it got an excellent rating from one of the bigger sites and had the most favorable reviews. I got my kit and followed the instructions and FAQ info. to the letter. I think I can still read and follow instructions.

Well not one good puff. Hmmm, now that I know more about ecigs it seems I got a bad charger which meant my batteries never got enough juice to work the atomizer properly. Then the first pre-filled cartridge I tried was dry so I burnt the atomizer. Next I got a cart that was overflowing and flooded the atomizer and got a mouth full of fluid. At this point my one atomizer was fried and I had batteries that were dead after about 20 puffs. :?:

Oh well, Newbie mistakes and lessons learned. ProSmoke did give me a full refund after I sent the kit back.

Now I am on to the ego-T type A with the 1000 mah batteries, some extra tanks, covers, atomizers and a couple of bottles of juice.

We will see if I can get that to work for me.

I will let you know once I get the batteries charged.

Congrats on the eGo!

Remember, this is a journey. The eGo will likely be awesome and you will enjoy it. At some point you may decide to take another step and check out some other things. DONT feel bad or fight it. Don't fret over the money you may have spent on stuff that didn't end up being your final destination. You are saving your life here most likely. :)

Newbie mistakes;

charging your ego battery without making sure that 510 connection is completely dry. In many egos this can short circuit them leaving them useless.

spending to much time and money on little ecigs and flavored cartos instead of exploring the world of mods and liquids. (I know it's scary because it's unknown but it's fun and you have our help!)

I had a disaster with ProSmoke too, except I didn't read all the fine print regarding satisfaction guarantees, for the "warranty", etc....they charge a restocking fee and the batteries had a scratch? on them, and so on. Got about 1/3 of my money back. I too jumped into trying ecigs before finding this forum! Meanwhile, I have some Cig2o's from my local cig store and they give great vapor but the batteries don't last very long. Got ejuice from several different vendors to try and love some of them and keep refilling the Cig2o cartomizers......Then, based on seeing some good reviews I ordered (and just received) my Ego T starter kit a few days ago, and again, I'm bummed :( All my great flavor juices taste like burnt plastic in the new Ego T system yikes!
Soooo, I ordered a 510 5volt passthrough and love it with 510 cartomizers! But it's just for vaping at the PC and can't take it with me....so then, I ordered a 510 3.7 volt passthrough that does disconnect and can take it with me, and tried an ego 3.7 volt passthrough to take with me.
I LOVE how the Ego batteries last forever compared to the other smaller batts, however, if I can figure out what's up with the strange flavor while vaping with the Ego T!! Might have to try the LR 's as well. Or, trash the cartridge/tanks and go with the cartomizers that others have suggested. Good luck to you! Wish me luck too ;)
This site IS great isn't it :thumb:

Searching for answers, Sorry to hear you had problems with your ego -t as is. So far it has been great for me, but there are a couple of things that I found are critical.
1. I used a juice from an ego vendor that was specifically blended for the ego product and I think that helped.

2. After not using the cone/atomizer for a while prime it first before inserting your tank.

3. Use the easy fill to fill your tanks and you won't have to deal with the caps

4. Clean your connections each time you take the unit apart

5. Place your cones connection side up on a paper towel overnight so that they drain and dry

I am very glad to hear that you found something that is working for you. I think my next step will probably be a LR Cartomizer.

I was relentless with Prosmoke because I don't like to be duped. When I figured out that they had sent me dry cartridges, a defective charger, and batteries that would not hold a charge I freaked. So much for PoSmoke's less than 1% defective component and quality control program. I was not buying it and I not going to accept getting more stuff that was not going to work so they could delay me until I was past the warrantee period. When they gave me Their company line that they would only give me a Pro-rated refund once that had checked over my returned kit and when they got around to it I told them that that was totally unacceptable because their kit had totally failed me. When that did not work I tracked down their Executives in Bloomingdale IL. on Linken-in and started complaining to the senior execs at ProSmoke. That did it. I got an immediate email from a customer rep advising me that I was getting an immediate and complete refund.
I used to work in the sales and customer relations biz and I don't like companies and customer service people that are unresponsive and hide under their desks when there is a customer problem. One of my pet peeves.
Onward and upward on the ecig learning curve.

A word about battery safety. In case you haven't read all the Stickies we have here! lol!
Never leave a charging battery unattended. Never leave a battery charging over night. Batteries should be good for anywhere from 6 months to one year, then throw them away and get new ones. As soon as the light turns green, unplug the battery. Some people recommend getting a safety bag to charge them in. Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping! You're gonna love it! Keep checking out things until you find your 'sweet spot'....it's out there just waiting for you to find it.

Kay, That sounds like great advice.

Question- My ego vendor suggested charging my batteries overnight the first time. I hope that is OK and I did not cook my batteries or reduce their life cycle.

No they'll be fine. If the charger is functioning properly, it won't overcharge them.

You know... for as much as I was unhappy with my ego-t at the end of it's life, and how much I complained about it... it *did* get me off the analogs, so for that it was extremely successful. I wish you lots of luck Fisher! I really hope you like your setup! It worked for me!

Someone said earlier not to feel bad for trying different accessories; or the $ you'll spend in doing so and they are SO right. You're saving your life. Have fun, experiment :)

You said earlier, onward and upward. I agree!!
