Hey everyone. I had found several posts that questioned whether or not the ProSmoke was actually an M40X series that was just re-branded. Although it may have been answered somewhere I did not feel that there was a clear definitive answer. So here it is, YES it is the same!!! It is the same threading. Parts (batteries, atomizers, and cartridges) are interchangeable and the chargers work for both. ProSmoke claims they have special atomizer, but they also claim a whole slew of crazy things on their website (like one cartridge being equivalent to a pack or more of cigarettes) so take that with a grain of salt. Even the PCC sold on some sites looks identical outside the ProSmoke logo.
Now that we have that out of the way let me share how I know this to be true. After purchasing the ProSmoke (yes I know I over paid for something most people consider junk) I found that I did not like the automatic battery, or the cost for replacement parts. So I went on a search for what this thing actually was. After researching ProSmoke further I assumed they did not make anything except money. And I was right. I saw pictures of the M40X series and thought for sure it was the same thing.
I ordered 2 manual M401 batteries and 2 atomizers from Rocky Mountian Vapor. RMV delivered in 2 days and I have tested and used them ever since. Now they are significantly cheaper than buying from ProSmoke. M401 150 mAh battery from RMV was $11.00 and the atomizer was $7.00. Those same parts from ProSmoke are on sale right now for $12.99 each but ProSmokes battery is an automatic and more like the M403 in size and I believe is a 90 mAh.
The kit I bought from ProSmoke included 2 batteries (automatic 90 mAh), 1 atomizer, 1 USB charger, 1 wall charger, 20 flavored cartridges, and the PCC with charging cable. For this kit I paid $105 + shipping. I could have bought the same kit with an extra atomizer and better batteries for $66 but that would only include 5 blank cartridges. So you would need to add a 15 mil bottle of ejuice from someplace like QuickNic for around $8. I am certain that 15 mil is way more than I got in those 20 cartridges from ProSmoke, and the flavor was just OK with ProSmoke.
So we are talking $77 total for the RMV/QuickNic route, or $115 total for the ProSmoke route.
I think it is clear that for $40 I would have probably gone the other route. I included some pictures of the batteries side by side so you could see that they are the same. And a picture of the M401 battery charging in the ProSmoke PCC, note the lid will not close on the PCC with the larger M401 battery inside. The smaller battery is the one from the ProSmoke kit.

I hope that helps some people who are looking for alternatives to the parts from ProSmoke or for better batteries. By the way, I seem to be getting about 50% more time from the M401 battery. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. I would be happy to take more pics or answer to the best of my ability.
