I know this may seem obvious to most, but i just want to make sure I understand what I am doing before I ruin the kit that I've spent so much on. I bought a 510 kit (5 filled carts come with) , and several e-liquids.... Now:
1. When I get the kit in, can I add/fill the e-liquid to the carts if I vape the pre-filled carts first until they don't produce vapor, or can I only use blank carts for the flavored e-liquids I bought?
2. If I have to use blanks, can I just take out the filling from the prefilled carts and add in poly filling to make my own blank?
3. When using the e-liquid, I'm a bit confused as to how I use it. I've read where you have to prime it with a few drops and then fill it, or do I just drop into the poly filling until it's damp on top.

I'm not going to try dripping or dipping until I get a hang of the use of the carts first. I really don't want to mess this experience up as I need to quit smoking analogs  !!!

I'm sorry if these questions seem silly, but I've been reading this forum for a week now, and there is SOOOOO much information, it can get confusing for someone new to e-cigs. Thanks for all of the info and advice you all give here!

1. Yes you can reuse the pre-filled carts over again but it might depend on what you had in them originally. The original flavor might leave a residue and alter the taste of the new Liquid. If you want to you can pull out the old filler and rinse it in hot water, blot it dry in a paper towel and put it back in the cart. Filler only lasts for a certain amount of time but I have gotten a lot of use out of pre-filled carts.

2. Yes, as long as the cart is still in good shape you can refill them with new material, sometimes you can also use the empty carts that the come to plug the holes in new attys. You don't have to use poly either, do a search on the forum and you can find different materials that people have used for fillers. I think one that is more popular is the blue foam from fish tank filters.

3. You are supposed to prime your atty with 2 drops then drip on the filler until it becomes damp. Adding too much e-liquid could flood your atty and you will have to blow the atty out to clean it.

Col. Thanks for the information! Yet another quick queston though...when you say,
"3. You are supposed to prime your atty with 2 drops then drip on the filler until it becomes damp. Adding too much e-liquid could flood your atty and you will have to blow the atty out to clean it. "

Are you saying to put 2 drops on the actual atomizer before I place on the filled cart?
Do I do this just with new e-juice or do I need to do this before I try the pre-filled carts too?

Again, so sorry for seemingly stupid sounding questions, but this past week is the first I've heard of e-cigs and decided to try it because of all of the info on this forum. Just soo much info to learn & take in in such a short time :) Thanks again all.

Never be sorry for asking questions! That is the only way you will learn so ask away! We were all newbies at one time! Better to get it right them mess something up right?

First of all if you are using a brand new atomiser you will have to blow it out because it will have primer fluid in it. Use this procedure for clearing it and if you accidentally flood your atty.

Note, your first several vapes might still taste bad until you completely burn off all the primer.

Get a paper towel and blow into the atomizer from the open end over the paper towel. Keep on blowing until you can blow freely into the atomizer.

If you are clearing a flooded cart put the atty back on with out the cart and (only if you have a Manuel battery) press the button to see if your atty gets red, if not then you will have to put the atty, thread side down, on a paper towel and let it drain over night. The next day it should be fine.

Then put 2 drops into the atomizer, it does not have to be dead center. Then fill your cart. Everytime you vape your cart dry, put 2 drops of e-liquid into the atty then fill the cart.

The only time you should have to drip juice on the atty is after you clean it, dry burn it or run it totally dry. When you get your new ecig the atty will be primed already from the factory, I don't know what they use but it tastes nasty and don't recommend inhaling it. I usually blow this stuff out and reprime with my own juice.
Oops looks like the Col. beat me to the punch, lol.

Thank you both for the info. One more question, and I'm done; I swear....for now :)
Is there a difference in a USB passthrough and a USB charger, or are they different names for the same product? I'm at the coputer a lot and confused whether one lets you use the vaporiser at the computer and the other just lets you charge it with the computer but not actually use it while charging. Really can't thank you enough for the info you're supplying. :)

A USB charger is used to charge a battery.

A pass through is what you use to smoke with. There are 2 different kinds of pass throughs, a pass through with a battery in line and a regular pass through. A battery pass through uses a 10440 battery which needs to be charged before it will work and you vape with it at 3.7v, a regular pass through vapes at 5v.

So it will depend on if you want a stronger vape or not, 3.7v or 5.0v

A USB charger charges the battery, so, no you could not use it while charging.

A pass-through, PT, comes in 2 versions. One has an in-line battery and will produce nearly the same voltage as your stock battery, but the in-line battery will recharge while you use the PV. The other has no battery and passes the USB 5 volts right to the atomizer.

Both allow you to vape from the power of the USB port. I would not recommend using the 5 volt, the one without the in-line battery, from a computer's USB port as many motherboards can be damaged from too much current going through the USB bus. If you want to go without the battery for your PT, then get a wall outlet converter. (120 volts AC to USB 5 volts DC... Wall voltage subject to change based on which country you plug into.)

The regular USB charger is just so that you can charge it through a usb instead of the wall outlet. The usb passthrough you can plug in and use the e-cig at the same time.

I want one of those..!

Hey...hello neighbor! I live just outside of the Colville area, wow. A nice winter here, so far...as opposed to last year 8-o

But remember if you are going to use a wall charger you will need something that is at least 1.5 to 2 amps for it to work properly.

Hmm, I think I'll try it with the inline battery. I'm promised my husband this would end up being less expensive than my smoking analogs, but I keep seeing more things I "need". :) I'm sure once I actually am able to try the e-cig (oce it arrives), I'll find even more things that I'll "need" (want to try). He's happy about the health benefits for me alone, but this economy doesn't leave much for extras. Thanks again for the info all!

EverHopeful - has your kit come in yet? Still waiting for mine, but I got some liquids yesterday that I ordered from Liberty Flights on Monday!!! Just need that kit now... :0

I'm in my first week. I reccomend vaping as much as you need to to not smoke... This really works trust me... I havent smoked an analog since i got my 510 in the mail :)

First off, you should go ahead and order some more gear if you just bought one starter kit. Two charged batteries last me only about 1/2 a day. I figured this out my first day and immediately ordered another starterkit from CigNot-2bat 2atty 5cart and a charger... that gives me 4 batteries... I also got a PCC givving me 4 more charges... I orderd 50ml of liquid too... If you are addicted to NICCOTINE as I am, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH STUFF TO GET THROUGH THE DAY!!! if you do run out and smoke an analog... get back on the vape-horse and dont run out again...
The boyscout motto: Be PREPARED:)
You cant just stop at the store to get more like analogs, this I think is the hardest thing to adjust to(because vaping tastes sooo much better than smoke).

Sorry I sound like a broken record...

steps to vape:
1 Blow out atty
2 fill cart just above satturation without pooling and put a 2 drips on the atty bridge(mesh-y protusion)
3 assemble one unit charge other
4 take light long drags
5 top of(see 2) when vape cloud slows down
6 read ecigforrum
7 order more stuff
8 switch batteries when needed
9 repeat 2-8 all day like me ;)

Welcome to the forum, congratulations on the move to e-cig :)
