I've just started the e-cigarette thing, with mixed results. I bought a $50 starter kit (Firelight, if that means anything to anyone), and found it to be a low-grade Chinese import, with almost nothing in the way of instructions included.

I have a suspicion that there's lots to know about this thing that I don't yet--all the little hints and tips, the esoteric, insider knowledge. Like, what am I missing as a consequence of buying a cheap kit? What's a better make & model? Can you use the liquid stuff with any spent cartridge? Can the atomizers be cleaned?

Anything that anyone knows that would be helpful would be most appreciated. Really.:p

I bought a $40.00 kit and I like it more than a buddy's 110+ kit. I recommend reading up on the stickied threads in this section, there's a lot of knowledge in there and it's helped me a lot.

I also recommend looking into the mods. I know the cart mods have made my experience much better, both blue foam and PTB. I havent played around with a ton of liquid but it seems like any liquid works with any cart, although some people prefer a thinner/thicker liquid depending on their filler material. Also, the atomizers can be cleaned and there's plenty of post explaining how.

Welcome to the world of vaping! :D

Here are a couple of guides for newbies that will answer many of your questions:

I've never heard of the Firelight e-cigarette. If you'd like to try a more popular e-cigarette, there are quite a few that are well loved by many (for instance, the 901, 808, 401, and 510). I will recommend the Joye 510 since that's the one I started with and that's still my favorite even though I've gotten other toys since then. You can get a Joye 510 starter kit for thirty five dollars from Cignot or eCigMall.
