Sorry I don't have the vaping lingo down yet.

I've had my i-cig for about a year but I started using it full time without smoking real cigs again about 6 months ago.
Basically I'm sick of how unreliable my i-cig is and I'm looking for an alternative.
I'd say almost 50% of the cartridges don't work, which is unacceptable.
I do however like having the portable charger which as I can gather, not all brands offer.

I guess what I want out of my elec. cig is:
tobacco taste
Look like a real cigarette (more or less)
Reliable
portable charger

I've not tried the ones u can refill before but I'm open to suggestions

I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions

Welcome , sounds like you might want to check out Joye 510's . Their cigarette sized , last a decent amount of time , and are reliable . You can either drip with the atty itself . Or buy some blank carto's ( I prefer Boge's ) and the juice of your choosing , and fill them yourself . A lot cheaper than buying the pre-filled carts .

Is having something that looks like a cigarette super important for you? When I received my first kit, I thought that all of these crazy upgrades were not for me. Then I quickly realized that the battery life and performance were not gonna work for me. I got a Twist kit for the same amount that I spent on the mini kit and it is soooo much better. I quickly got over the fact that it doesn't look like a cig.

Hello & welcome Tragomillz :)

I'm also in Cornwall, so not that far from you :D

If you really want something reliable, it's best to go for something that doesn't look like a real cig. With something like an ego or Riva, you don't need a portable charger as the batteries will last most folks all day between recharges. This kit is a good price from an excellent UK vendor (use discount code ECF10 for 10% off) -

The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

Refilling is easy. To initially fill cartomisers have a look at this video -

Filling 510 electronic cigarette cartomizers using the "condom" or "push" method - YouTube

And to fill the vision ego that comes with the Riva kit -

How to Fill a Vision eGo Clearomizer (aka CE4+ or Stardust Clearomizer) - YouTube

If you would like to check out some other good UK e-cig suppliers, have a look at this list -

This is sooo true.

I would suggest a 510 with a 280 mAh battery to start. I do believe one with larger capacity and more user abilities is the way to go.

Hope you find something that works for you and helps to keep you off the analogs. :)

Rule of Thumb: generally, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

If you can deal with a model the size of a sharpie pen, you will get much better performance than most cigarette sized models.

This has been my experience as well. The closest thing to looking like a cigarette that I would recommend is an Ego, I know it's not going to pass as a cig in the smoker's area at work, but if you want to enjoy your PV without a lot of headaches, it's best to skip the cigarette-looking PV's.

Best for 808s -- 3 different types.
Their cartos are the best hands down to refill...

Get RID of your little charger. The best tip I got was if you are using small cigs, get a 100s cig case and go out with some extra charged batteries in the case. If you have spare charged batteries in a case you will never have to hassle with your personal charger and worry it will break and screw you. I can put 6 78mm 808d bats with cartos in a $10 Amazon 100s cig case and be out allllllllllllllllll night. Extra bats=the win pcc=hassle and it will break and screw you on the 12hr sales rollout business day.

There are a couple of cigarette look alike battery styles out there. 510's & 808's probably the most predominant. I use the 808 style, which includes the atomizer in the cartridge - cartomizer. I didn't want to fiddle with a 3 piece again, as I'd gone that route originally when electronic cigarettes first hit the market years ago. Not to say 3 piece is bad, there are good brands out there, but I went with the 808.

I still use an 808 style battery, 6 months after quitting. I used four others before staying with the Smokeless Image Volt. The volt had more of what I wanted and I found I preferred their carto flavors over the others I'd tried. That is all subjective and individual tastes, though.

The Volt batteries are 65mm and 78mm in the cigarette look alikes. They give about as good of charge life as can be had for the size. Depending upon your own vaping habits, the 78mm can give 2 to 4 hours before needing to be recharged, but I'd say an average of around 3 hours. The Volt also comes in a step up, mid size battery, the X2, in 650, 900, and 1300 mAh, also 808 threaded to be able to still accommodate the 808 cartomizers as well as being able to use clearomizers. The X2 also has eGo threading (not 510 threading) in addition to the 808 threading which allows from some eGo accessories to be used without an adapter and not having to ditch the 808 equipment one already has if they want to try those eGo accessories.

If you go with eGo, be sure to get the Joyetech branded batteries, there are a lot of eGo knockoffs, and the eGo is not a bad battery to go with.

If you look at the 808 batteries, though, I recommend the Volt by Smokeless Image, which is what I'm still using today. The regular Volt batteries (cigarette look alikes) and the X2 satisfy my particular vaping needs at this time.

There are portable chargers available for most of the 808 and eGo style batteries.

As far as tobacco taste, well, you'll have to search for your favorite, there are so many good liquids out there. With brand batteries, I like the Volt 555 and RY4 for tobacco tastes, having a slightly nutty flavor and a slight caramel flavor, respectively. However, I've added other flavors outside of tobacco flavors from other vendors. I found after a short time that the taste buds woke up and wanted something other than tobacco.

Except I wouldn't do the eGo because it is only a 3.4 volt battery, the smallest on the market. I would suggest the Kgo or E-Power in a fixed voltage beginner model because they are true 3.7 volt batteries.

I +1 the Volt.......I have 4 batteries (78mm), usually use 2 a day, alternate and I top them off after an hour or so. I dont have much more to add than Kia2. I just ordered an X2 for the passthrough at home but I like keeping a cigg-sized peice in my pocket

Taste is individual.....I all day vape RY4 from Volt (SI). I thought that everything else in their line tasted like the rear end of a dead yak.
