Newbie needs help

Hi everyone,
I figure Shawn is probably going crazy getting orders out on the 51 so thought I would ask for help from the veterans.

First let me say this is my first order from Shawn and as usual he continues to exceed expectations.

I got my first 402 today (about 10 mins ago) and I have a couple of questions.

How long should I charge the batts for on the initial charge?

Up to now I have been using a 901 as my primary device and I drip my various juices. I don't want to damage my beautiful new device so I wanted to inquire about the correct method for dripping with a 402. It appears that I would drip into the blank cart and then just attach the atty and batt, but with the 901 I drip on the atty. Also is there a recommendation for how many drops to use as I know that too many can flood the atty and not enough can be frustrating.

Also I thought I remembered that there is a slight off taste initially until the atty gets broke in, but wanted to make sure I am thinking of the right model.

Is there a best method for cleaning the atty and how often should I clean them?

Five hours has worked great for an initial charge time on my 402 batts. As for refilling the carts I usually remove the fiber, drop about 5-6 drops, then replace the fiber, swirl it around a little and top it off with a drop maybe two (being careful not to overfill). I seriously would not recommend dripping directly on the atty with these though. It is far to easy to flood the atty and kill your battery. I've never really noticed an off taste but some say the primer on the atty can cause this and it will eventually pass. I would guess that leaving the atty in the cart for a few minutes before vaping could counter that a little though. As for cleaning I'd love to hear some suggestions too.

Ditto. 5 to 6 hours on the charge. With the 402 it helps to have two batteries to rotate.

Stick a paperclip through the small inhale hole. This would push the little plastic piece with the fiberfill out the other way. Use the clip to remove the fiber fill. I put 4 drops of liquid in and then use the paperclip or a pair of needle nose tweezers to push the fill back in. I then top off with with 2-3 more drops of liquid, using the paperclip to jiggle the fiber up and down to get rid of air bubbles. This allows me to see whether or not I need to add more liquid.

Again, use the paperclip to push the insert back down into inhaler piece. I push against the side of the flavor cartridge insert to avoid pushing the fiberfill all the way back down.

Don't drip on this atomizer. It works best when it's not too flooded. As a matter of fact sometimes I have to blow the liquid out of the atomizer loop.

Also, overfilling this cartridge means getting nic juice in your mouth. Yuck!

Atomizer - It took two-four days to break in an atomizer and get rid of the disgusting taste of the humectant it was shipped with. There are 4 openings along the bottom of the atomizer and I get mad smoke from covering one or two of them with my fingers, but it's not a necessity.

Draw - The draw on the 402 is on the hard side. Be careful of repetitive long draws. You'll notice the battery and atomizer heating up. This shortens the life of the battery considerably.

The 401 is my battery of choice, but my kit came with a second battery, which was a 402. I broke the 401 in my first week and I became very familiar with getting the most out of the 402.

And of course (I learned 3 days ago) shake your liquids frequently. It separates and can start tasting horrible. I wondered the chocolate started tasting badly and now I know why.

i drip occasionally on my 401 when i am at home and i know that the cart is dry. i dont want to flood my atty or kill my battery so i just drip 2 drops max on the bare atty and vape it until i taste the dry/burned flavor. when i started doing this i noticed that any more than 2 drops and the atty wont soak it up and it floods. hope this helps.

A much better and more comprehensive instruction than I gave.

Good tip! It took me far too long to realize that was what was going on with some of my liquid!

With the M40x units I prefer, and recommend, *dipping* rather than dripping. Meaning, you take a cap of some sort (I use a contact lens case) and put some juice in it. Take the mouthpiece off of your M40x atomizer and 'dip' the atomizer into the juice, allowing the atomizer to absorb the perfect amount of juice.

I've found this much easier and convenient than dripping -- plus, when you're dripping, you could still get some into the battery from over-dripping or missing. Basically, just touch the metal wick into the liquid and leave it there for a few seconds and you're good to go.

This is another huge plus of the M40x units -- exposed atomizer. You can't really do this as easily with a recessed atomizer, unless you have a huge pool of juice to dip into.

Thanks for the tip! I like dipping. It's funny to watch the wick soak up the juice. I am also able to use less juice than filling up the carts (which is a little bit tedious)
