Hello all - first, thanks for the great information and all the posts that are here. This helped a lot on deciding to try the e-cigs. The information and experiences shared helped me a lot. I've been researching e-cig's for the last couple weeks since first hearing about them and wanted to post my experience thus far - 3 whole days into it. This is kind of long but I wanted to put up some observations while they're fresh.

I decided to go with the the Npro njoy e-cig, partly because Costco sells the starter kit online. (they allowed for 10-15 day delivery and I got my order US mail in 5 days, delivered to Northern California) I got their basic kit for 89.99, the battery, charger, 5 cartridges and an extra pack of 10 Light cart's "free". It seemed like a good deal.

So far, so good. I've been smoking Ultra Light generics for years and based on what I read here it seemed like I was a good candidate for the e-cig system. I'd agree so far. I was mainly interested in cutting back overall on my smoking, I'm at about a pack, pack and a 1/2 a day. Also cutting back on the second hand smoke and the smell it generates and the overall hassle it's becoming to actually smoke anywhere in public. Best case scenario, I'd quit, so this seemed like a step in the right direction.

Pretty simple out of the box - the two batteries charged up in less than the recommended 3 hours, took about 2 per. The Costco Starter Kit comes with an assortment of 5 so I started with the Regular, tried the Ultra Light and am now on the Light today. (I'm putting the caps back on them and back in the bags, hope they hold their seal) The Light grade seems about right for what I expected. I've had a few of my Generic Ultra Lights in between to compare the difference, about 10 in the last 3 days.

What I Like So Far/What's Working -

• Ease of use/no mess - ashes, ashtrays, smoke, and the accumulation of the smell of the smoke are gone. It's crazy - I can just slip the e-cig in my pocket and carry it around. When I smoke I "flick" it out of habit but I'm getting used to the fact there's no flame - I can lay it down on the desk here, smoke, lay it back down.
• The "vape", draw, the whole thing is about like a very smooth Ultra Light to me so I'm not missing the actual smoking experience as much as I thought I might. The "taste" is acceptable, like a dfferent brand for me, not bad by comparison.
• I got used to the draw pretty quick - it's a little gurgly, and does seem to take two draws to get one - a short one and then a longer one, but not a deal breaker for me.
• There is a smell but it's not strong. My wife doesn't smoke and I tried it in the car and she noticed it so I cracked the window and that handled it. The smell seems to dissipate quickly but she's a better judge of that than me so I'll have to see how it goes.
• I'm trying to track usage and the battery life - I'm on day 3 now and the first battery's still fine. I think I've smoked about 12? of these so far. I'll switch out and recharge tonight. No problems with the batteries so far. (crossing fingers)

What I Don't Like/Ain't Working -

• The process is a little noisy - the "gurgle" sound is weird, but I'm accepting it as a tradeoff for stray ashes.
• I thought the smell would be less than it is - but it's not nearly as strong as an "analog". (still getting used to the terms)
• I'd like to have a way to know the battery status, and how much is left in the e-cig cart. I'm guessing at this point.

Overall though, I like the Njoy and have no problems with any of it so far. I'll probably go with the Light grade and may try the flavored versions. I seem to be smoking less, although using the e-cig more frequently. 3-4 puffs, that's enough. I'd be interested in hearing if that's normal.

I'm new to the e-cig and Npro too. I seem to be going through carts faster than I should though Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I can go through a cart in an hour it seems.

With the njoy thats normal. There isnt much juice in them. Your best bet is refill the carts.

JohnR I started with the NJoy too about 6 weeks ago, I'd read this board before buying and even though I thought the 901 might be better for me the NJoy was available at a nearby gas station I went ahead and got it. Same observations as yours, and 3 days later I was off analogs...wanted to quit and this was just what I needed. Went ahead and ordered a 901 to compare and having both is perfect for me. The 901 is less "gurgly" and easier to refill. The NJoy is great for when I want to go out and smoke with my old smoking buddies - many don't even notice that I'm not smoking a real cig. I did notice that the NJoy flavor lingered in my car for several days (vaped it with the windows up when it was raining - duh) but the various liquids I've used in the 901 don't (windows always down now). I do think NJoy's carts have more odor and it lingers, so try refilling the empties with liquid and I think you'll be very satisfied. NJoys are harder to refill than 901 though, since you have to "aim" at the filler material, but a dropper or syringe will make it a snap. Enjoy your Njoy!

Luckily, I'm a pharmacist...I've got lots of syringes and needles around. I'll just have to practice with my loading techniques. I ordered a kissbox too, the usb thing will be handy while I'm at home.

I don't like buying from one place although the Costco deal was good - I see some sellers being recommended here I'll try for refills too. On the syringes, I'm still not clear on whether you add it through the external hole you draw through, or the side that goes on the battery - does it matter?

I dunno about the cart amounts truckdriving mouse, that's one of the weak parts of the system seems to me, sounds like the amount varies...? Now I'm wondering about Njoy's, if they have the least. Aiden, I did notice when the Njoy went, it went and the battery side seemed to heat up while I used it to figure out if it was empty so I switched to a new cart.

It was weird - I had no idea there was such a thing as an "e-cig" and when I found out about them it really sounded good. I called around to try and find some over the counter sellers, smoke shops. A guy at a local mall thought they might get something around Christmas, said they were hard to get ??? and thought a kiosk setup was coming there but he didn't seem to know much about them. Competition to tobacco I guess? If Costco has a brand, they can't be that hard to get, I'd think. Seems like plenty of online sources. I went with them for the price and the reliability factor but I'd prefer over the counter so I could see the stuff and figure out what's what.

While I'm still really new...I just replace the cart when the vapor is negligable. It seems to work, but I've gone through 15 carts in 2 days. I ordered some juice from totally wicked and the sampler kit from Johnson Creek. It all should be here next week along with my kissbox, so I'll aim to totally quit analogs the week after that. I'm thinking of ordering a screwdriver, but I'll see how the kissbox does first.

There are a LOT of good brands out there, but I love my NPRO. Check the suppliers for the RN4081. The RN4081 is the model of yours. NJOY just stamped their name on it. As I said, there are other brands that are more popular, but I've had my 4081 for a few months now, and I won't give it up. It's a real work horse, good vapor, and a hell of a hit. The drawback is the small cartridges. You just have to fill them more often compaired to the others, but I'll live with that.

Costco is a bit pricy compaired to some suppliers on this forum, but you got a good e-cig there. Make sure you have spare atomizers and a good supply of juice.

YES, you pretty much have it all summed it. i have a Npro as it was my first e-cig also. Except i only paid $60 Anyway. The Npro is a good little and looking device. Gives a good throat hit and battery is decent. BTW: if you for some reason connot get a replacement battery for it (back orderd) you can buy a dse103 battery as they are the same.
Cons:as JD said, For me the cart is too small and you need a parerclip to push it up to top it off. Good smoke tho.

Use a paperclip or tiny screwdrriver. Insert it in the mouthpiece end, and push the inner sleeve up to the outside edge. Drop your juice on the fiber and push it back down. No "aiming" required, and no juice running around the edges.

Thanks for the welcome and all the replies. The paperclip method makes sense - so it's basically just a matter of getting close access to the fiber, saturate it with the juice, replace it into position - you're done. I'm going to order some.

The RN4081 - got it. I'm figuring out the $ on all of this, costs, etc. Sounds like I ended up paying more through Costco. We have two local stores and their customer service desk is helpful - figured if there was a problem I'd have a human to at least talk to. Once I get the suppliers straight, I can buy by price. COOL.

Day 5 more or less - I found the batteries don't last as long as the initial charge, but they still seem to work okay - I get about 8 hours looks like, I *think* that equaled about a dozen e-cig's worth. I counted drags on analog and I average about 10 per ciggie. (9 - 12) Soooooo, dunno. Still getting a handle on exactly what I'm doing. Overall though - it's woikin'.

Had one cart go quickly, about 3-4 cig's worth and it kind of "dried up" - stopped vaping. So I tried tapping it and messing with it and it seemed to come back to life. Guess that's to be expected - ? It didn't last as long as the first couple though so it sounds normal - overall consistency and levels of the fiber saturation must vary cart to cart would be my guess.

Smell - showed this to my son, he got a kick out of it - he doesn't smoke, God bless him. He completely "got it" though so the support is good. The smell is slight but doesn't saturate a room - this model at least isn't truly odorless by any means but it's much better than the smokie stuff.

Newest revelation "duh" moment for me - e-cig's don't "burn" all the time so there's no urge to "finish" one. Puff when you want, put it down.

And no ashtrays. SWEET.

I have discovered that if I store it vertically, with the mouthpiece up, light down, I get better vapor. I carry mine around in a small camera case, along wtih spare battery and box of cartridges.

I have just been dropping juice directly onto the stuffing in the center, going from the wide-open end that faces the atomizer...not the end with the tiny hole in it.

It seems to work. Also I can kind of guage whether the cart is going dry by observing the darker color on that end of the cartridge. It appears as though some juice is coating the outside of the silver-colored tube that sticks up from the atomizer. As the liquid disappears, the color gets lighter and less vapor is produced.

I do the same, Vocalek - even sometimes after I put a new cart on I set it straight up give the cart a twist or two - seems like a combination of gravity and contact with the fiber.

So - I ran out of 'Bacco last Thursday, so I've converted to the e-Cig sucessfully for 4 days now. Yae!

Got two bottles of the Johnson Creek Juice - Regular and Vanilla. (They were fast delivery - great service!) The Vanilla's great, little strong so I'm reloading the cart's with a combination of the two - seems about right.

Ordered couple RN081 batteries and 4 atomizers, should be coming in a few days. So far so good...I'm kind of going through some tight headedness, which seems related to the nicotine "hit" and not smoking the e-cig's as much today. I only vaped twice during the day. So it seems easier to not "smoke" using the e-cig's and to make the choice to wait, wait, wait, and when I do vape, it's not like I'm sucking down two ciggies in a row.

Cautiously still....it's woikin'!

The NPro (RN4801) was my first PV too! for the first 2 weeks or so I seemed to be going through a lot of carts, but all of the sudden I started getting great performance out of them! I vaped constantly yesterday all day and only used up one cart. I used up the second cart I started yesterday as I got home from work today! I have now had my Npro since April, and bought another RN4801 for flavors and spair parts (even though I haven't needed them ) I have not dripped constantly on my atty's, but I have done it a little, especially when I change flavors. I would recommend avoiding dripping all the time since it seems to ruin other peoples attys.

With the gurgling I find that if I take the atomizer and put the battery side into a paper towel and blow into it then it clears out really nicely! I do this about every week to week and a half. I have really good luck with the battery life and haven't had any problems with the attys (knock on wood). Good luck with yours!!

I've received a second NPro kit I bought, through China - amazingly (?) took 5 business days, and no problems. So now I got a second atty, 4 batteries and some juice from the Johnson Creek co. SWEET! Waiting for a second order of 2 atomizers that's from another co.

Most recent realization, Benefit #342 to e-cigging - my home office is smelling half way decent and my wife's stopped buying Lysol Neutra Air by the case. The sounds of "pssst....pshhhht...." have gone down dramatically.

So far I haven't had to throw away any of the cart elements, they've lasted through up to 3 reloads. Unusual? Dunno.

I've tried some aquarium filter pieces, which I have a lot of. Seemed to work okay. Haven't tried any other materials.

"14th Floor, Men's Shower Caps, Ladies Tube Tops and Plumbing Supplies...."

I used a 1 to 4 mix of hydrogen peroxide and *hot* water to clean my one atty while I was waiting for reinforcements to arrive. Soaked, rinsed and blew dry, twice. Or so. Cleaned that bad boy out and it came back to life after a frustrating day of tapping and whacking and "is this thing on?" Appears to be working fine now.
