Newbie Overboard!!

I have been doing my research here and enjoying the ECF forums immensely, so much good info here. I started vaping 8 days ago and had my last analog 7 days ago. I may have gone a bit overboard tho. I bought a small Ego kit to try out that first night and it was okay but a bit harsh it seemed to me, not very enjoyable. If I had not already found ECF I might have just stopped there and continued smoking but I was learning about MODS and other such thngs readng the forums here. Day 2 had me at my local, or not so local B&M vape shop since I live in a smaller town. I purchased the Evic and all the necessary supplies, went home and charged it up. From that moment on I was a very happy camper. Maybe it is all in my mind but the vape was so much smoother so much more enjoyable.

I have since purchased a Itaste SVD as my backup, multiple batteries and tanks as advised here. More important for me as I am a truck driver and a vape shop would be impossible to get to for me. I also converted my sister the day after I bought my vape gear. I got her a SVD also and the necessary backups since she is on disability and could not afford her own start up gear.

The short is I spent way more than I intended in the first week just to get started but I am very happy because I no longer even want to smoke the old nasty bakky, the same oes for my sister. I don't feel alone tho because I have seen a trend in overboard spending from some of the posts here. I don't know if I should refer to you as members, fellow travelers or just enablers?

Great to hear of your success - and your convert

Enablers might be the best description of us. But it is possible to slow down... although maybe not to stop!

While the initial investment might be more than anticipated, once you're set with good gear, backups and all the rest, then it can be just juices and heads. For some of us, the cost of a decent mid range mod, charger and batteries isn't much more than the cost of a carton or two of cigs. And lasts a lot longer

Welcome, I think it is pretty normal to go a bit overboard at first. There is so much to try and everything I read about sounds great and I just want to give it a go. Some people really get into the hobby aspect of vaping and continue to get all sorts of new gear, or start making juices, or what not. Other spend to get gear they are happy with and then back off the purchasing. I figure as long as I am not using up my house, car, food, or utilities funds I am ok. And the big bottom line.... we are not smoking!!

Enablers, but in a good way There is just so many really awesome products out there to try thats its very easy to go overboard. For me, once I got a mod, the biggest expense is finding liquids I like. so really its not that bad

Thanks for the link. The problem won't be finding a vape store, the problem will be finding a place to park a 70 foot long Semi truck. LOL.
Or some place that a taxi ride is not $100

Nope, she is not a member, I will do all the research and when she has a problem she will be calling me and I will have to try and diagnose the problem over the phone. Haha.

One thing new vapers I think should be reminded of.... look for a passthru or 2.
Anybody who is a chronic smoker / chain smoker should get one or two.
Even for when driving you can get a usb adapter for the cig lighter from radio shack and vape on a passthru.

Put your money into the tank system; no point wasting money on battery power when you are vaping next to a power outlet while you're sitting down watching tv, or worse yet vaping while surfing the internet for a few hours with a whole lot a usb ports in front of you.

I don't think I ever took time to write a formal hello to everyone, so I'll say Howdy to all while I'm at it. I am in the same boat as you. I got standard ego's and did know enough thanks to ECF to pick up a clearo of some sort, got some T3s and an Evod. Didn't take 2 weeks and I had a twist, and more tanks. Mini Protank 2's and Mini Davide. Week 3 its starting to look like I am stocking to be an E juice vendor, more glass tanks. Week 4...Now have an itaste MVP 2.0, more glass tanks. I see this trend with a good percentage of folks on the forums. Just can't help it. I think initially it helps too, I've spent this money, I see it as a hobby, Im distracted and commited now...no way I'm going back to "Analogs".

The people and information here are amazing, congrats again, and thank you to all the vets and beginners alike!

welcome and congrats. You need only heads and liquids from now on. I am going with evic, a clone vivi nova and 2 batteries only an eroll for outside exchanged with my daughter my red kiwi set. And no complaint so far.
Still you can confront some difficulties ahead but you always have ECF with you
you can call us anything as long as you are a vaper

Welcome to the forums, congrats on making the switch, and kudos for helping your sister make the switch too. I myself fell victim to the hobby bug. I've spent more then I care to say, but I am prepared for the zombie apocalypse. And because new mods just don't come out fast enough, I've started building my own.

The one thing you may want to do is get yourself something like an iTaste MVP. It has a built in battery and lasts a very long time. You can charge and vape at the same time and also use it to charge your phone. I bought one exclusively to take on long road trips and I'm glad I did.

im also a truck and believe me if you have time you can find a store to get in to. i run a team truck and we always find some way to get in and stock up at a store. but your not the only one that went overboard i owe 2 mvp, smoke zmax, provari 2 and soon an empire

You're right the initial start up can be a bit costly but some of us haven't stopped spending yet.

Very cool what you did for your sister.
One day you might find yourself wanting to make your own juice.
That'll be cheaper in the long run for both of you.
