Hi,

Really new to vaping, only done it once before when I went on holiday and bought a £5 one at the airport that wasn't very good. Well I'm 25 now, been smoking for over 10 years and I'm ready to try and stop. After reading around the forum, I've decided to buy an EGO twist since a lot of people have recommended it for starters and gave good reviews.

I just need to know what else I should buy, like the e liquid to suit my tastes and any other kit I need, or should I buy a starter kit? Any good UK retailers?

Some smoking info:
I smoke Regal cigarettes, golden Virginia tobacco usually since it's cheaper. If you don't know those brands, I've smoked Marlboro and did like the taste, I smoke just under a pack a day, say around 18 cigarettes.

I really want to stop so I'm willing to put time and money into vaping. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I would recommend:

  • 2x Joyetech eGo-C Twist 1000mah (has been good for me so far and I say two because when one dies you'll be without for a few hours while it charges)
  • 2x Vision Clearomizer 2.0 (and maybe a few backup atomizer heads of varying resistance so you can see what you prefer)
  • 2x Vivi Nova tanks (they come with 1ea of low, med and high resistance atomizer heads) - you would also probably want a collar to hide the outer threads with a Vivi Nova or any other non-skirted tank.
  • Charger
  • Lanyard (might sound silly but believe me.. it's been nice not having to hunt for it or bother with where I set it down last)
  • Juice - Read around and take your best guess, I've bought as much juice that I didn't like as I have that I like :( Take the plunge with a few flavors that get consistently stellar reviews, then go from there.

And above all else, don't give up too soon. Vaping may not be for you but if you aren't enjoying it ask about it, there may be a resolution. Also don't give up on any equipment without asking about it, I've found some tanks can be tricky at times

Ok, thanks for your input. I'll look into what you talked about, not sure about clearomizers or atomizer heads or nova tanks or lanyard are but ok lol.

Links incoming ;)

Will edit this post in a few minutes

I live in the US so this NY based retailer may not be ideal for you, but these are the hardware pieces I was referring to:

Vivi Nova tanks - They also come in a metal tank if you prefer, or if you use a juice that breaks down plastic (never experienced this myself but apparently some strong cinnamon flavors can break a plastic tank)

Replacement Atomizer for Vivi Nova - Lower ohm rrating = lower resistance = harder hit with less current. I prefer the 2.4 and 2.8 over 1.8ohm in these tanks and in the clearomizers, I seem to get a smoother less harsh hit from the higher resistance heads.

Vision Clearomizer 2.0 - These are nice, imo. They are simple to use and simple to troubleshoot if something goes awry. The atomizer heads last 1-2 weeks in my experience if I am using it as my primary vape. The heads are cheap and easy to replace.

Replacement Atomizer for Vision Clearomizer 2.0 - They may look similar to the Vivi Nova heads but if you look close you'll see they are not interchangeable. Any tank or clearo that uses replaceable heads you'll want to be sure and get the right ones for it.

*we interrupt this regularly scheduled post to bring exciting news: WOOOTT!!! The mailman just got here :) I'll (hopefully) be vaping my own handmade coil and wick this afternoon :)
*you may now return to your regularly scheduled post.

eGo Lanyard - Purpose made for the eGo style batteries, a must have if you are on the go and ever set stuff down and forget about it.

eGo Charger - Unless you get a kit the eGo's won't come with one and they are a LOT less fun to use after the battery dies.

eGo Cone Thread Cover - Not for use with the skirted Clearomizers but really finishes the look nicely with a Nova or a smaller tank like the 3.5 DCT and U-DCT (they are cartomizer tanks, you'd probably be fine with them but they can be a little finicky)

And this is a great example of a well rounded kit - Not a bad value at all, pretty much everything you need to start vaping, minus the juice.

And last but not least this little gem.. got a few of these x6 1300mah multi voltage batteries last week - really great value, if you can tolerate the gold :p Fortunately I found them in time to get a black and silver one

Hope that helps you visualize some of the items. These suggestions are obviously just my opinion. They are the products I started with and though I just got a VAMO and my first RBA in the mail :D I still use them and intend to continue using them for backup and convenience purposes AND for lending out to friends wanting to try it out before investing. These suggestions are what I would recommend to anyone wanting to get started and enjoy the experience.

Statistic has put up a reasonable starting kit, although I think I'd suggest one each of the clearos and Novas, so you can see which you prefer.

Definitely two batteries. I prefer the Vision Spinner, easier to read and adjust, and usually a bit cheaper. And you should consider two chargers. They're cheap, and you don't want to be left high and dry if one fails.

Yeah, juice. No way anyone can tell you what you like!

But I'd suggest getting some at 24 mg nic and some at 18. When I smoked, it was just a bit over your average, and 18 didn't do it for me, still smoked. Went to 24 and haven't missed it. (Now working back down to 18)

the twist is a good small VV device.

I sit as a noob, yes they are absolutely terrific
one negative: if you keep adjusting voltages it wipes the battery much faster
that reason makes it a good small vv device

if you set and forget, it goes and goes
i get about 8 hours heavy vape
when i started it lasted a day and a half

mah batteries love to be abused if you dont
charge abuse them daily they go bad faster
some people freeze them put on charge
then freeze them again and recharge
do this and the battery becomes hercules
and it runs more efficiently when broken in this way

it 100% works
