newbie question - how often do you clean out cartos?

I prefaced this title with 'newbie' because it may be a stupid question.

I have been using SS for the past few weeks; my first foray into vaping. I want to start refilling the cartos and have been perusing these threads and have found good instructions on how to do so. I ordered some eliquid from wicked eliquid which should arrive tomorrow.

So, do you have to clean (boil etc) the cartos between each fill? Or can you refill a few times then clean? How do you know?

When they start tasting off clean them.. depending on the filler type some can go longer then others. Also if your not going to refill with the same flavor you might want to clean to remove the old flavor. I dont boil I soak in in cheap high proof alcohol then blow out and dry.

I just add juices that are "similar" right over the old taste. May not be the best thing, but I do it....much easier. For instance, I will vape a blueberry down, then sometimes I'll just add strawberry behind it. Good. Or I may add Coffee flavor after a tobacco flavor. Or I'll put peanut butter cookie on top of maple walnut. I don't like cleaning cartomizers.....can you tell?

I tend to switch flavors a lot so I clean mine about once a week. I have a little cap that I throw them in when I get done and soak them when I fill it up. Everyone has their own system.

I read somewhere that once a week is good because it doesn't really give the buildup time to develop on the coil. I beleive this was more for prolonging the life rather than clearing out a flavor.

This is what I've been doing too. So far I have only used tobacco based flavors, such as marlboro, kent, french pipe, and ry 4. But this latest order (recieved but unopened) has maple, and choc mint (as well as a big bottle of ry4!) . I guess eventually I'll find out how well it works to put those in uncleaned carts, it might be just fine. I'd imagine fruit flavors wouldn't work well, but I'm not into those. I have no organizing system yet, but for now I got white carts to use those non-tobac flavors in to keep them separate.

I don't bother to clean cartos, there cheap enough not to bother.

Thanks for all the advice everybody. Valcon69, I do indeed like your method I have been refilling my cartos for a week or so (the same two cartos) and I cannot tell any diference. I will probably throw them away soon and start on two new ones. I am using smoke stik cartridges and they are pretty easy to refill.

I am vaping on a TW Tornado-
My maintanance routine has been:
1. Nightly blowing out atty's
2. Every 2 days-clean filler material (i use both poly and Blue Foam)
3. 3x's a week- sanitize carts
4. Once a week-deep clean atty's- (hot water rinse and denture cleaner soak)

With cartos I initial fill using the condom method for the initial fill and use a drip tip to keep them topped off. I normally get 3 days or so out of a carto then toss them after they taste bad or stop producing good vapor.

I'm all about low / no maintenance these days and thats why i started using cartos in the first place lol. One exception is 808 cartos, they are awesome after you use them a few days and rip out the filler to direct drip on them.... pure fricken awesome imo.
