I would suggest a 510 or an eGo, in fact the eGo would be the better choice. You will want 3 or 4 atomizers to start out with, empty cartridges (5) and two different bottles of e-liquid to fill the cartridges with. Unless you were a VERY light smoker, I would suggest starting out at 24mg nicotine strength. You can always make it less strong but you can't make it stronger. Don't bother with the prefilled carts (expensive and don't taste that good). You might also want to consider cartomizers but instead of going into that, it would just get a little confusing. If after a month you end up liking "vaping", then you might want to consider moving up to a good 5 volt mod PV (personal vaporizer). And stick with manual (button to push) PV's not autos. Better performance and more control. Here are some sites that I personally know are reputable and have a good following:

Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!

Welcome to awesomevapor.com -

e-Smokey Treats electronic cigarette's, accessories and more!

Box Mods

Good Luck.

PS: keep searching and reading this forum so you can learn more about the "art" of vaping. It does take some practice and there are several good instruction "stickys" on the forum I suggest you read. You will want to learn about "dripping", different cart modifications, cartomizers, better battery configuations, etc.

Welcome to the fourm!! Both models (510or kr808d-1) are good and each has lots of members who are happy with them. If you are on the go a lot and over 1/2 pack a day smoker and decide on a 510 type then I would say look at the ego / riva / torando (all about the same and use 510 atomizers) but have batteries that last longer before needing to be recharged. Some who spend a lot of time near power outlet use a pass through (Cord from power adaptor to a tube that holds the atomizer) The 510 has more users but some kr808d-1 users have tried the 510 and are happier with the kr808d-1. Either route you go you can try out the other fairly cheap with an adpator that goes between the battery and the atomizer (or in the case of the kr808d-1 the cartomizer (one piece atomizer and cartridge combined). In either order make sure to get some liquid (most say small sample size in various flavors and strength of nic to see what works for you). If you have not read thru this yet please do it an excellent overview of vaping http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/36180-wonderful-world-vaping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html

edit:tried to find electrasmoke.webs.com and come across electrasmoke.com Seem on the high price side so I would order from another site than electrasmoke.com.

I got an ego starter kit from cignot with about 30ml juice total (several different smaller sizes) and a pack of blank carts. Got me started ok. Looking back would have ordered a drip tip since they are cheap and gives option to drip the different juices easier to try them out. Order the manual batteries. I got one of each (auto and manual) but killed the auto with juice leakage within the first two weeks.

Welcome to the ECF and congrats on asking questions before buying! The electrasmoke.com site was largely not working when I tried it, but I was able to see that they are one of those sites doling out the "1 cartridge = 1pack" misinformation. That and $79.95 for what looks like an M401 kit would be enough to make me stay well clear. They do have a referral program, so I can see your friend's side of it ;) . Stick with the suggestions offered above and you will be happy.

Welcome, your in the best place to learn about E-cigarettes. I started with a smaller 902 (similar to a 510) and upgraded to the Ego and got it at cignot.com which I am VERY happy with, actually was out ALL day yesterday, had both with me totally charged up and they lasted 10 hours without having to be recharged only refilled, which I have down pat now, and not even that often, I have a longer atty from my 902/510 that works on the ego. I will DEFINATLY be upgrading to a 900 batt as well for longer life and maybe some xl atty's with and carts as well.... Much success to you, picking a model is definatley personal preference! My first set was through modernvapor.com which they just came out with the LUX which is sharp looking has a 900 batt and seems to look alot like the EGO but with a twist in the 'look'...check them out, both companies have great customer service and I have nothing but praise for both....look forward to reading your journey!

Hey welcome to ECF Jhomey! My sister lives in Rolla and there's another vaper on ECF from there too. Why don't you go over to her house and tell her to stop smoking? She's already got my old 510. LOL!

I have to get my eGo and stop first so I'm not a hypocrite and then I would be more than glad to!! Who is the person on here from rolla? Would love to have someone close that knows more than me!!!

8-9 months in... have a few mods... but I still vape on my eGo most of the time.
It's pretty perfect for me. I My preferred set-up is: eGo batt, 510 to 901 connector, 901 LR Atty and a nice drip tip.

got the eGo batts at puresmoker, happysmokes and cignot. Got the connector and drip tips from madvapes. Got the LR 901's from madvapes or valuevapor.

for a one-shot buy, you can get everything at puresmoker, vaporkings, VapeRite

Another KR808D-1 person (808), I've ordered from both NHaler (saveinnj coupon code) and vapor4life (smilin is their regular cc, though they often have sales) -- good experience with both. Good service from both companies.

If you go 808, the XL batteries can be nice -- 380 mAh vs. about 2/3 that on a standard battery. About $50 entry price for a full starter kit with two batteries, charger, carrying case, initial set of cartos. Order a couple of sets of additional cartos to get started, ideally a few different flavors and strengths (amount of nicotine), to initially dial yourself in. (Otherwise order some blank cartos and some e-liquids -- filling cartos really is pretty simple, and they can be refilled several times with the same flavor of juice before it's time to either clean them or toss them).

Welcome, and good luck!
