Hi all,

I am new here. I am writing because I just had a horrible run-in with Smoke Assist after hearing one of their advertisements on the radio. Long story short, they are extremely reluctant to cancel my order. As it stands, it is still not cancelled, though they told me to call customer service tomorrow and they will do it for me.

I want to buy an e-cig without any sort of per-month cartridge plan or any of that nonsense. Recommendations? I am a writer but I live in the northeast. I just wish I could smoke inside while I write!

Thanks for your prompt response.

I smoke Marlboro Mediums and I would like anything that's like that, pretty much. Also, does anyone in Western Mass. know if we can buy these in person? I don't particularly want to order one online. I just wish I could try one out to see if I like it!

I just want something that won't make me feel as crappy as smoking fifteen cigarettes a day.

I'll tell you the truth.......if you want your money's worth, find the best deal on a JoyE510 kit ( or get a used Chuck or GLV......but they can be upwards of 75.00-99.00 bucks), and order the "USA Blend" Juice from LitecigUSA.net . IMHO, Litecig's "USA Blend" is the closest tasting to "Marlboro", anything under 18mg nicotine level is going to leave you wanting something else so be sure to get 18mg or more. I don't like pre-filled carts or cartomizers, but some do........you have to try things to know if you like them.

I went from 55 smokes a day...........to NONE!

I would get a joye 510 to start, cignot.com has these cheap. Also, if you just want to try one out, I am not sure the website but there are disposable 510s for 10 bucks or something. Sorry I wont be able to help you with any local e cig shops. Anyway, GL and Welcome!!! ps. maybe you can tell your credit card company to cancel payment on the Smoke Assist.

Welcome to the Forum! It is jam packed with everything you need to know about e-cigarettes and all related matter. Good for you for recognizing the scam in Smoke Assist! But good luck with trying to cancel, they are hardcore about keeping your money. You can always cancel at the bank if all else fails, just tell them not to allow any debits from that company. As far as finding a Marl Red substitute, I'm afraid I can't help you there. Almost everyone who switches wants a tobacco flavor to start with and you just can't duplicate exactly that "burning" flavor. There are many good tobacco-esque flavors out there though so check out the e-liquid part of the forum for good advice on that. I only vape non tobacco flavors but probably the closest I've got are "555" and "Ry4" although both have a sweet side. Your best bet is to check out the list of vendors on this site, they have all been "approved", read alot and order a sampler pack to start with so you can get a feel for what you like. Go to their websites with a notepad by your keyboard so you can keep track of what website had what price, flavor, type of e-cig and then make an order. It's easy and very secure these days to order online. I've never had a problem myself. Good luck to you! And by the way, I use a DSE901 currently filled with DIYFlavorshack's cotton candy, and I love it!

Also, do I want something with pre-loaded cartridges? What is all of this talk about juice? My understanding of e-cigs is minimal at this point, so any and all information is appreciated.

Aside from just saying "read the newbie threads", I can honestly say that THIS is the best thing on e-cigarette forums for a beginner. It's an illustrated guide to e-cigarettes/vaping/whatever you wanna call it - and it is essential.

Click it and bookmark it. I referred back to it a hundred times, while I was researching vaporizers and trying to pick out a starter kit that would suit me.

Good luck and I'm hope things work out with 'smoke assist'.

i don't understand why everyone is so in love with the 510, the only one i ever tried had a horrible burnt chemical taste to it. on the other hand my rn4081 kicks out a hell of a lot of vapor (way more than an analog) which tastes wonderful, and the batteries usually last me a day between charges and i pretty much chainvape. and to put the icing on the cake there is a site selling it calling it the super ciggarette for only 23 bucks for a starter kit. hope this helps

I am still relatively new to Personal Vaporizers (I've been "vaping" for a month now) but I figured I'd give you my personal experience as it might help.

I first started my journey with the dreaded mall kiosk. I had heard about them before but I figured that they would be just like those terrible "Eclipse" cigarettes that I had tried a while back. When I was at school one day I noticed that a friend of mine was "smoking" on one so I talked to him about it. The next day I went back to the mall and decided to give it a shot. The guy there let me try out a menthol cart on a 510-style e-cigarette. To say that I was disappointed in the flavor would be an understatement, but I was surprised at how good it was in and of itself. When I went home that night I decided to google around and see what I could find; this is what led me here.

After a couple of days of reading as much as I possibly could I finally decided to place an order for the Vapor King from Vapor4Life. The seemingly endless supply of great customer service stories along with the ease of use is what made me decide on that. Since I have received my Vapor King I have slipped up once when I was having a very bad day, but that was over 1 month ago and I have yet to do it again. I find the ease of use to be the best thing for me as the last thing I want when quitting cigarettes is to be frustrated with the tool that's supposed to help me quit. Sure the refilling of it is a little bit tedious, but I've worked it out to where I basically just sit down for about 30 minutes every few days and refill the carts that I'll use over that period of time (as well as some extras). When I go to sleep I pop both of my batteries on their respective chargers and go to sleep. This means that when I go to work/school I just pop the cart on the battery and "smoke" like I normally did. It was this ease of use that has kept me from even considering another one.
I'm sorry if this seems as though it's some sort of rant but I wanted to give you the most information that I possibly could. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
