Hello all,
I have been up and down the long road to getting off the cigs. I have tried Zyban, Wellbutrin, Nicoderm patch, Nicorette gum, hypnosis and Chantix. I had the most success with Chantix, quit for 1.5 years the first time I tried, but eventually went back to the cigs. I was told about eCigs from a friend and it seems like the only thing I have not tried that might work for me. I have 2 beautiful daughters, 5 and 3, and I want to make sure I am around to see them grow and have families of their own. That is my motivation for quitting. You would think that would be enough, but this drug has a hold on me that I cannot explain and non smokers just do not understand. The assistance I need is I know nothing about eCigs. There are so many brands out there and parts and features I cannot fully grasp without days of research. My same friend that recommended the eCigs also recommended this site as a good starting point to learn about and make educated decisions on my first purchase. Please let me know what is a good starting system. I currently smoke between 10 - 20 cigs a day. I am smoking Marlboro Lights menthol as of late. The taste of the regualr lights wasn't doing anything for me. Please help me with some good advice on a starting system to get me off the cigs! Thanks all.

Get the benefit of over 9 months of extensive research in a short period of time. All you need do is click the link in my signature and start reading. Click the Easy Button and away you go to a better life. No need to thank me. Just live a happy healthy life and that's thanks enough.

Yes, do go to ShogaNinja's website and read.

And then, start with something like an Ego or Kgo, and avoid the PV's that look like a real cigarette.

I started vaping over 2 years ago with a basic Ego kit and a few juices that I ordered from Litecigusa. Now, there are many variations of the Ego. One I highly recommend is the Kgo. From Hoosierecigsupply.

As for juices, order several different flavors that seem appealing to you. Include some tobacco flavors, some fruit flavors. There are usually menthol options available. Order several different strengths too. I recommend trying 11mg, 18mg, and 24mg. One of those should be right for you.
Start with 50/50 VG/PG if you order from a site that offers customization. Finding the right juice is really the biggest challenge.

I get 90% of my juice from Freedomsmokeusa.

Basically, just keep it simple at first. I stayed with the basic 3 piece set-up (battery, atomizer, cartridge) for six months before I tried cartomizers. When you are ready to go to cartomizers, go with Boge 2.0 ohm, or the Smoketech, 1.7 ohm single coil. Also known as the Resurrector at Crystal Clear vaping dot com. Hope this helps you get off to a good start.

psweet looks like you got some good info to start. My story is similar to yours, I too have quit using various methods and returned after abstinence. I have young children as well and have every reason in the world to remain off cigs. I am happy to report, that I have been cig free for 18 months, and feel there is no need for me to return to real cigs. I am happy with e cigs, and have been given the thumbs up from a pulmonologist, cardiologist and my general practitioner. Good luck on your journey, I think you are in the correct place.

I wouldn't suggest anything less than an eGo type unit. I'd personally suggest avoiding atty+cart setups as well as the tank-system ones like the egoC, and just get some solid cartomizers. Much less hassle than tank systems or atty/cart setups. I really don't know why anyone would want to use the tank systems, you can get cartos that are the same size as the tank systems, with equal or greater juice capacity. Plus the tank systems mute the flavor quite a bit, they leak often, attys are expensive, I just can't see a single positive about them, especially for new people who want a no-nonsense vape that just simply works well. An eGo battery with simple cartomizer is the best setup for this, in my opinion.

Me, as well as everyone else I've ever known who vapes all wish they wouldn't have wasted any money or time on the cigarette look-a-likes because they are just trash. For how much you'd spend on those you can easily get something eGo that will be light years ahead in terms of function and performance.

I have the volt from smoklessimage. Its my first e cig so i cant compare it to anything except the blu that ive tried before. I would go with the volt it has not disappointed me!!!!!!

I also grabbed a volt x2 after a bad experience with basic 510 kits years ago. Definitely did the job and is a solid product. The only thing to remember is they use 808 threading so it can be a bit difficult to find cartos and clearos, but an adapter will solve that problem.

I just switched to an ego twist and am enjoying it a bit more than the volt, but everyone has different tastes. I still keep the x2s as backups, since since they have a nice easy USB pass through when desperate.
