Ok, so I am very new to the vaping world but I have fallen instantly in love with vaping. I tried to be good and start out with a safe and sane itazte vv regulated pen and an Aero tank with adjustable air flow. The flavor was good but I found no matter how I adjusted it my vape experience was less than satisfying.
I have friend that has been doing mechanical RDA'S for a couple of years and he let me try one of his. I instantly knew that this was the experience I had been seeking and was completely hooked. Almost immediately I went shopping, knowing that I did not yet have enough knowledge to safely do my own builds.
What I ended up purchasing was a kamrytech K-100 mechanical mod and a LD igo-w3 4 coil atomizer. I also purchased 2 LGDBHE21865 batteries as well as a digicharger D2 battery charger.

My friend has agreed to do the math and build coils for me until such time as I am confident that I can safely do it myself. While I have complete faith in my friend and his ability to do this for me, and I have no intention of going sub ohm at this time, I was wondering if this was a smart way to go about it or if it would be better/safer to just put this device aside for awhile until I have learned all that is needed to do it myself?

I have after all grown quite fond of my hands, fingers and face after all these years I have spent with them.

It would be wise to learn the theory behind what you are doing, and acquire the proper equipment to test your builds before just blindly firing away.

That said, there are other ways to increase your vape satisfaction. Try rebuilding a Kanger coil using cotton for the wick, try different juices, try different PG/VG ratios, maybe you need to increase your nicotine %...

If/when you smoked cigs you weren't blowing huge clouds, so I don't see why vaping should be any different.

Welcome to ECF. Good to see you are cautious, and wanting to learn before getting into the rebuilding. I would get a Multimeter soon, learn how to use it, then at least for now, you can check your builds that your friend is doing for you to make sure nothing is changing there as you vape along. Good luck, have fun, and vape safe. :)

Here are a couple of links you can browse for info.

Thanks guys. I really am trying to be cautious, while I am aware that unless you go sub ohm and use quality batteries there is a fairly low risk there is no point in pushing my luck.

I already have a nice multimeter and am familiar with its use. I have also been reading plenty here on these forums to get up to speed.

I think I will continue to use my friends coils for now but double checking them for accuracy on the multimeter is great advice.

The less than adequate experience I was referring to was not a matter of vape volume exactly. It really was more a matter of air flow threw the device. While the mechanical RDA moves to the opposite side of air flow I really didn't want to drop another chunk of money on an experiment when I already knew the RDA would accomplish what I was looking for.
Your just going to have to believe me when I say chasing clouds is not my intention although I have to admit the vape volume is considerably larger than off of my other device.

I'm over the top when it comes to safety, have a good multimeter and ohm reader. I'm constantly checking my battery and RDA, maybe too much, but I don't want to have my kids say mom died because a battery blew up in her face while vaping! When I build I double check everything and I like the steam engine site that helps with coil building and more. Here's that website Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators. Hope this helps!
