Hi fellow vapers,
I've been vaping for around 3 months now using a steamlite 510. However, now the Carts are starting to wear out, i am looking to get a 'tank' system after havin a look at my brothers. As a result, I am currently searching for the cheapest tank system possible, with a decent battery size. I am looking at a Joyetech Ego-Ctwist, using Mini Nova Kit. However, if there's a ready to go system available for around £40ish (which i know, is a bit cheap!) then I would love to know about it.
Ideally, the company would be based in the UK so customer support would be easier
Hope to get some advice!

Sam

Well, I originally started on the UK e-lites (ie, disposable, and just not right to use). These didn't work, and I just threw it away. I then looked for the cheapest 'refillable' e-cig. Found this to be the Steamlite, got that, and found it used a one piece Cart and Atomiser, so refilling it a lot meant that eventually the wadding died.
At the moment, the Mini Nova v3 is in the lead, admittedly i would love a "totally wicked Tornado tank" But i can only afford the Compact Starter, and it obviously as no VV.

EDIT: (Wont post again, to stop mods being annoyed)
What's the cost difference between self mixing and buying pre-mixed roughly?

Had my first 'vape only' day today, and now have a really bad chest cough. Is this normal?

It could be your body just getting used to the vapor inhalation.

I have only experienced this with a cheap-o disposable e-cig.

Is yours currently a disposable? If not - is it a pre-filled cartomizer? If so, what flavor? A tobacco?

It's very commonplace for a new vapor to cough, get a sore throat, dry mouth, experience "harsh vapor", etc at first.

Just as it took our bodies a while to get used to smoke from a cigarette, it takes our bodies a while to get used to vapor. Don't get discouraged as the symptoms go away relatively quickly.

Drink plenty of water, as the vapor and ingredients in eliquid can dehydrate you and cause dry mouth.

We absorb the nicotine in vapor differently than we did from cigarette smoke. Most of the nicotine from vapor is absorbed in the mouth, throat, and nose because of the difference in size of the molecules in vapor and smoke. Therefore, it is not really neccessary to inhale vapor all the way into the lungs to get your nicotine delivery.

Using a vaporizer may require a change in how you smoked cigarettes. Instead of taking a drag directly into your lungs, take a slow long 4-5 secong drag into your mouth as if sucking a straw in a milkshake. Hold it temporarily, and either inhale it or exhale through both your mouth and nose.

After years of smoking, your taste buds have been damaged. E-juice flavors may seem weak, muted, or not present at all. Good news is they will heal after totally quitting cigarettes, but it will take some time. Help your taste buds out by allowing your nose assist. When exhaling the vapor, allow some to leave through your nose.

You can understand this better by recalling how foods taste bland when we have a head cold. The nose is blocked off from congestion and not able to detect the aroma molecules emitted by food. Therefore, our sense of taste is closely related to our sense of smell.

If having issues "tasting" your new flavors, consider trying some of the stronger flavors such as cinnamon, the mints, or menthol. However, be careful with the cinnamon or citris flavors, as some of these are known to degrade the plastic in most clearomizers or polycarbonate tubed tanks. These flavors are safe to vape, they just have a chemical reaction to that particular plastic.

Hi Raguri and welcome from another noob. I second Baditude's suggestions about drinking lots of water, and don't inhale directly into your lungs. These are things that have worked for me personally. I've vaped a shorter time than you, but haven't had the coughing issue yet. Maybe I have something to look forward to. Good Luck and keep at it.

A massive thank you to both of you! I've now made sure my water intake is enough, and that combined with some multi-vitamin tablets has somehow helped a lot. Changing to a new cartridge has also meant i am no longer coughing as much whilst vaping so i think the inbuilt atomizer may have been dying.
I'm currently making sure my inhales aren't to long for the first few to try and urge my way into the new flavours i've bought. However, i have read somewhere that you are not meant to re-fill the wadding type cartridges, so my final question within this thread is "Is this true? And if so, why?"
Thanks again

To me that sounds like propaganda to sell more carts, but I'm sure there are some cheapie carts out there that are made not to be refilled. Common carts like the 510 can certainly be refilled, used with new wading, and used many times over. The downside is the mess and maintenance. I only use clearomizers now--the type that doesn't require much care at all.

You can refill your carto's. Ive been refilling mine over and over until I do notice it giving a smokey burnt taste. I usually save them though, because you can connect a hose to your carto with the other end of this hose connected to a syringe or a pump device. Put the carto in water & pull on the syringe. It will suck all of the nastiness and gunk out of your carto. Empty the syringe & repeat as many times as you wish.

Here is a link to a quality yet great price for one of those carto cleaning kits. From Smoktek.
