So I seem to have a choice between the eGo Mini and the SD Keychain.

I'm assuming the main difference (to me as I'm looking mainly at weight) the SD is lighter but has less battery time than the eGo?

Also, the SD is an auto and the mini is manual. Depends on what you are comfortable with.

Yes that's the SD Maxi Key Ring. Maxi is 650 mah and 20 mm longer than the original SD Key Ring.
Comparison Pic between the two. Fir what it's worth I really like my SD and when friends have tried it they couldn't believe the power/ kick for the size. Yep Trogg really nailed this one IMO.

The new keyring comes in at 650mah, plus it is a LiPo cell instead of Li Ion.

I agree and would prefer the manual as opposed to the auto as less chance of damage to battery from juice.

Just remember that the keyring is an automatic switch. Used as intended they will last, but if you insist on direct dripping or using leaking tanks they won't make it through the day. So while they are a great little PV, they are not for everyone.

I have no idea what direct dripping or leaking tanks are!!

I definately want one where it's activated by inhaling - looks like it's the SD for me! Think I'll start with the little one, and if I get on I can always get the bigger / more battery power.

My point is that you need to make sure that e-liquid does not get inside the battery housing. It will gum up the switch, and it will stop working.

Also, you may or may not like the flavor that the cartos are prefilled with, but you can refill them with whatever flavor you like, or buy other 510 cartos.

I have no idea what direct dripping or leaking tanks are!!

The key here is that you do not want any liquid to get into the connection on the battery. Dripping liquid into an atomizer or cartomizer while it's attached to the battery is an easy way to do this. A defective tank that leaks can also do this. I'm not trying to talk you out of an automatic by any means - I love them because they can be tossed in my pocket with no worries about inadvertently pressing the button. You just need to be a little more careful when filling, juice leaking into the battery will eventually either clog it up or short it out. Particularly when you first start out it is a good idea to take the cartomizer off the battery for filling and then put it back on when you're sure the threads aren't wet.

My last e-cig had the end cartridges that you just pushed on, and it broke the seal on a little nicotine packet - this is different?

Same concept and you can still buy pre-filled cartomizers if you like, but that's the most expensive way to go and has the least options. Buying empty cartomizers or refilling prefilled ones allows you to buy juice much more economically and also take advantage of the amazing selection of flavors that is now available.

Oh... I see. So you want something very light in your hand? I thought that you were worried about shipping weight. OK, then IMO, the lightest ecigs are the mini ecigs. KR808D's are the best in the minis in my opinion. Go look at Smokless Image. They have very cute ones. They call it the Volt. Health Cabin also has 808's. I have bought 808's from both places. If you need pics of mine, or links, just ask.

OK, a bit unrelated stuff in the pic, but I took this one earlier today, and thought you might like to see. The purple and black one lying in the front is a Volt (KR 808D). That is a long cartomizer. Shorter ones are available too.
The tiny pink battery second to far right, is an eGo Mini. Once again, shorter and lighter cartos are available.

    Found this mini eGo kit:
    GotVapes STEALTH™ 510 MINI eGo Kit w/ Carrying Case - BLACK [gv-STEALTH-MINIeGoKit-BLACK] - $42.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
It's a US seller, though. :/ It comes in black and steel, so I assume the black one would be lighter.
Also a bummer, the kit doesn't include a charger. (???) Don't know what the problem is about that. But they do sell one separately.
Remember one thing; Batteries in general are heavy. Pick up one of those mega packs of Energizer AA's and they weigh your arm down!
I'm new to this, too... Wish I had cruised this forum earlier; Would've saved me some $$$! But I guess, like everything else, ya gotta ease into it and see what you're comfortable with. I totally agree with the comment that you're gonna wanna buy more things! Especially with all that $$$ you're saving from quitting smoking! Like you said, anything's less expensive than that!
I just got the SD keyring yesterday; Haven't used it much... Just tested it out. I was surprised to say the least; It's more powerful than I thought it would be! I mean powerful for a lil keychain. I agree that you might wanna have something else that lasts the extra mile. Maybe for just home use, like hanging around your place? Then the eGo mini or SD for going out? I used to smoke a lot when I drove, so I use analog look-alikes for driving. But at home I'm comfortable with the heavier stuff.
When I'm holding the eGo mini and the SD, they feel about the same weight. The eGo mini is longer, but they seem to feel the same.
Have you tried a disposable? Just to get an idea of weight?
I got the SD for stealth vaping at a concert I'm going to. I could never use often cause I'm a spaz when filling cartomizers; I drip so much. But as long as you make sure everything's dry afterwards, you're good to go. :)
    Welcome to the forum!! :)
