hey guys first post here. I'm brand new to vaping, was smoking "analogs" for 15 years. tried quitting many times but just couldn't shake it. tried the BLU ecig for a while, it just wasn't the same. not enough smoke, 0 throat hit, terrible sweet flavor. recently a buddy and his wife picked up some Ego Twists. 1 with a clearomizer and 1 with a cartomizer. (which they know absolutely nothing about) I hit them both multiple times, and i was hooked!

So i picked up an Ego twist, Boge SR XL punched 3 ohm cartomizer, and a 6ml tank.
I chose to go with the cartomizer, I liked the way it hit much better than the clearomizer. plus, it seems easier to maintain and fill.

The store i went to wasn't very helpful at all so i have been scouring the internet for information. There is just soo much to know, soo many options. And for some reason, (maybe im just an idiot) i cant find anything that just breaks it all down. I mean, I've found a lot about Mods, Ohms vs Volts, Atomizers and Clearomizers but im still left with some holes when it comes to the cartomizers.

My holes:

there are 2 different kinds of cartomizers: the analog looking ones that are internally filled with juice, and the metal ones that are punched and used with a tank w drip tip.

Are there specific names for each?
Where does 510 fit in?

There are dual coil and single coil cartos, are they the same length? will they all fit in the tank i have?
Is there a specific tank for this cartomizer type setup?

Is there any type of atomizer vs clearomizer vs cartomizer breakdown anywhere?

Im sorry if this information is readily available, if so, please just shoot me a link or 2.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

I've written 6 articles for beginner vapors in my blog. Click this link to access them, and click on the title to read them: E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

The first article you will find on the second page of the blog. It is a picture dictionary of common juice delivery devices. The second one is a list of online vendors that sell pre-punched or laser-drilled cartomizers used in cartotanks, and has link to the Safe Vaping Power Chart to learn what ohm (resistance rating) cartomizer to use with different voltage power sources.

The third article is a review of the IBTanked pyrex cartotank, which I highly recommend. The fourth article is a recommended ego setup like you already have.

The fifth article is a cartotank tutorial, with a short discussion on single coil vs dual coil carts, why I recommend pre-punched cartomizers for cartotanks, and a recommended tank accessory tool.

THe sixth and final article deals with certain flavors and how they can crack or melt plastic tanks, and which delivery devices can be used safely with them.

Welcome to ECF and vaping! You made some great choices in a starter's setup.

Welcome , but the 510 connection , comes into play , when you screw on an atty , to your device , then put on a prefilled cart . Or a carto , prefilled , that you screw on your battery . The one's prepunched , are for use in the carto tanks , only . And easier to just avoid the dual coil carto's , as they sap your battery power , twice as fast as a single coil . And I have never tried a dual coil , in a carto tank before . I suppose it might work , but why bother , when there are designated , prepunched carto's , readily available for your tank . And I'm kinda surprised that you had no luck with the clearomizers , as there are alot of good one's out there , that are alot less hassel than your carto tank . Look at the Evod , Kanger T3 , baby T3 , the VIvi-Novas , both the regular size , and the mini . Good luck

Hello, cavz903, and welcome to ECF.

Take a good hard look at the info, which Bad has noted. That will help get you up and running. Bad has either directly or indirectly helped many of us here.

I highly suggest, that at some point, you consider using a cartomizer/tank (cartotank) set-up.

Good journey to you on your vaping adventure.

Wow! This is exactly what i was looking for! I just spent my entire Saturday reading through it all and watching the vids. I was able to make some educated decisions on new purchases.

I picked up some Smok 1.2 and 2.0 ohm punched cartos, a punch tool (just in case), a UDCT tank, and a slap yo mama fill tool.

I'll probably be picking up one of the pyrex tanks from IBTanked next, as well as give the clearomizers another shot.

Thank you so much! I know feel fairly confident in this new world of ecigs...

Welcome from another new guy in myself. One thing you will find here is that many of the members are very knowledgable and more than willing to help us new folk out. In fact if it wasn't for me lurking in the shadows around here (before registering) I would probably be trying to stick the PV in my nose to vape...lol. But seriously just ask if you need help, they will point you in the right direction.
