So, I've been thinking about upgrading my set up. Like I said, I'm new to this, one month out from smoking analogs, and I'm currently using a G6 with mini tanks. I had a V2 starter kit before that and I used the cartomizers. I really don't like the taste of the filler stuff. I'm intrigued by the eGo C Twist. I understand that I have the tank option, like an EVOD. But what are those other things I see - they look like plastic tanks but I've seen them referred to as cartridges, with a squarish flat mouth piece? I've also seen some with or without that gross filler stuff. What are the benefits of the cartridges over the tanks? Thanks for your help!

An ego twist is just the battery, with variable voltage, that's the "twist" part. It has both ego and 510 threading so you can use anything that has either of those thread connections. I think what you're referring to with the flat mouthpiece is an older tank/atomizer setup, where there's an atomizer portion that screws onto the battery and then a refillable tank that you plug into the atomizer(sometimes referred to as a cartridge). Like I said, these are older, but I think it's the same system the eroll currently uses.

Other choices would be clearomizers like the EVOD, protank, nautilus, vivi nova, etc. There are many different types of clearomizers, some top coil, some bottom coil, some dual coil, and they all have pros and cons. Clearos don't have filler, they all use wicks of various types. Top coils have long wicks, and tend to need to be tipped so you keep the wicks wet. Bottom coils have short stubby wicks, some of which you can't even see, and they're gravity fed, but can be prone to leaking.

Do you tend to like a warmer or cooler vape?

No, no, please no. If you offered the "tank option" run away as fast as humanly possible into the loving arms of Mr Kanger, Mrs Innokin, Miss Aspire, Master Davide or King Kafun.

They are very poor and very expensive to run.

Joyetech described the atomiser and and cartridge system as revolutionary in about 2010. That's the same as prehistoric in the e-cig world.

If you want an "Evod" option, buy an Evod.

or something similar. :)

Yeah, I was just naming a random tank. I'll keep Kanger in mind. And I understand that the Twist is the battery part. I'm talking about the options to put the e-liquid in. I've seen tanks and clearomizers, and this other cylinder-like plastic thing (not a cartomizer like on a cigalike) that you stick into the atomizer and then screw on the batt. Does anyone use one of these things? Or like Lessifer said above, this is an older set up? I guess I was just wondering if there were benefits of using one over the other.

It's definitely older technology. I've never used them, but from what I've read they are prone to dry hits AND leaking. The more modern clearomizers are definitely a step up.

That's what I'm talking about. :)

I bought into this system about 3-4 months into vaping. i.m.o. it was a waste of time and money.

Sorry for making light of the question.

IMO, stay away from kangers. the coil system they use is too easy to break down. i'm starting to get into coil building and my unitank is just a pain. just get a kayfun or russian clone from ebay.

That's kind of a stretch for someone just getting started. Read and study ohms law. Buy a digital multimeter and all of the tools needed for building and wicking coils? Recommending some usable clearos like a kanger is a better suggestion for the beginners forum.

I love rebuildables, and the kayfun style in particular, but some people are perfectly content with clearos. There is something to be said about a device that is easy to master, you can just buy replacement coils for, and is accessible without spending hours of learning. Not everyone wants to spend time wrapping coils, just like not everyone wants to spend time mixing their own juice.

Never tried the tank system you are referring too, but from what I have heard it is best to avoid those, they are an older style and don't have a very good reputation. I also don't recommend rebuildables for newer vapers. Stick with the stuff with replaceable coils, and when/if you are ready for rebuilding you can rebuild many of the clearos.

Here is a blog from Baditude that may be useful, Baditude has several blogs that are worth looking at. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-carto-tank-what-guide-juice-attachments.html
