My husband and I have been vaping for one week today. We have ego twist batteries, the tanks that came with them and evods by kanger that we ordered online. I have a few questions.
1 how often do I need to order a new clearomizer? I did see on one site that you can order just the bottom piece is that sufficient?
2 how many do most people have? Should you use a new one for every flavor you try? Also I've read a little about drip tips, is that a better option or does it just get really expensive?
3 flavors....oh are flavors overwhelming! So at the store where we bought our starter kit we wasted $44 on two 30ml bottles of 7's liquid one tobacco one strawberry....they are horrid...horrid is an understatement on the tobacco! Then online at myvaporstore.com I ordered 5ml bottles of grape, mocha, and peach (plus the kanger evods) all three are 18mg tolerable but kinda "spicey" today I ordered legend, watermelon, dew, and mango from hhv in 12mg. Will any of those be better? Any suggested liquids to buy? My husband smoked Marlboro lights, newports for me. I've avoided menthol and tobacco flavors from reading on here not to try and mimic cigarettes.
We've been smoking one a day today was our first day only vaping. I'm not trying to ask a billion questions already asked, more worried about finding a daily flavor that each of us really like and not ending up with a bad tank from only having one and having nothing to vape with....but with everything we've bought including a couple of concentrate adaptors this has already cost us over $300 and it's getting a little overwhelming trying to get to the dollar a day friends speak of lol! Thanks for all of your help :)

well welcome to ecf and to the vaping world. so much to learn and yes it is a bit overwhelming at first.
to answer your questions.
1. you dont necessarily have to order another one unless you want another. the coil head is what you will need to order or buy from your local shop.
2. most people, like myself cant have enough. its more of a hobby now and we are just looking for things to spend our money on. you dont need a new one for every flavor. just be sure to clean your coils between flavors. i dont think that you can put another drip tip on an evod. but i could be wrong.
3. i cant tell you if those would be any better and taste is really subjective so it would be hard for me to tell you which flavors to buy. your best bet is to find a vendor that sells sample packs and try and try again and you will find a good flavor that you like. good luck and congrats on kicking the cigs to the curb.

IM new here too, so yes you have to ask questions some times...not really a big deal.

I think typically folks will collect a few different tanks as they get used to their gear and find what works for em, I only have 2 right now but I can see getting at least 2 more pyrex ones so I can use any juice with no fear of killing the tank. I have mini protank IIs from Kanger.

Juice: thats a hard one because in the end your taste and what you get out of it is quite an individual thing. I got some juice when I ordered my vape kit and its not bad...but not great, either.

So, I quickly put in orders for stuff from ahlusion.us, AiV (Alice In Vapeland), and Avejuice. I have a list of places I want to try...there is a very long thread in the forums about what folks' top 5 Juice suppliers are, and I read that for quite some time and checked out places as I went along.

I got 24mg juice to start with, then I discovered thats like unfiltered cigs lol. So I got a little crispy from vaping a lot. My next orders were 18mg (like a full flavor cig but with a filter) and then finally some 12mg stuff (more like a light cig)...I can see vaping a lot but not needing as much nicotine in the juice. You just wont need a lot if you are enjoying your vape and hitting it a lot during the day.

With this 24mg stuff - its all I have at the moment, 3-4 puffs and im quite content on my nic. level in my blood. Its like I horked down a Camel unfiltered.

When in doubt: ask in here, 'cuz its a lot of info and I lurked on ecf a LONG time - its confusing and I *like* technical things...coming in late to the party here means that folks have some well established thoughts on how to get the most bang for the buck and what NOT to even begin to mess with. Plus we get the best tips on good juice, hardware, etc. Some folks here have been vaping for years now and have seen some stuff that might be quite sub-par these days.

this video (while long, its interesting) shows how to redo a coil and from the looks of it, its super simple..just need proper tools and wire+wick material.

he also mentions a juice he likes thats available at avejuice.com...(I ordered some myself)

You do not have to replace your clearomizers, just the coil heads. Some sites carry them for like $5-6 for a five pack. I like to have several clearomizers or tanks on hand in case I feel like switching the flavor I am vaping. That way I don't have to finish the whole tank, clean it out and refill, I simply swap out the tank and I am good to go. As far as having one for each flavor, you don't need to do that. The wicks on the coil heads for the evods are very small so when the tank is empty you should be able to just clean it out and fill it with another flavor. If the flavor was very strong you may want to use a new coil head. I have probably ten or more tanks now because I like to switch flavors often without having to vape the whole tank of juice. But that is just personal preference. I would say however to have a few just in case you run into a problem, and it also just makes things easier too have a couple extra around.
The best advice is to do what works best for you. Everyone is different in their preferences, so you need to find what works best for you personally. You have a decent startup set so you should be all set to go. The fun part is finding the right juices for you. If you have a local shop I would go in and sample A LOT of juices. That way you can get a feel for what types of flavors you like. It might surprise you. I was sure I would want only tobacco flavors since I smoked a pack and a half of Marlboro reds a day. But I was quite shocked to find out that I HATED tobacco flavors and I love the lighter, fruity and sweet flavors! Who knew?? You will find something that you will love and then just go from there. Also a lot of online vendors offer sample packs- like 3-5mls of several different flavors. Those are good to try also.
And don't worry- vaping is always more expensive in the beginning. There is so much to try and new stuff you want. You will find a few favorites and a device that works best for you. After that you wont have to spend as much.
Welcome and good luck!!

Also- you have found one of the best resources ever for vaping- ECF is awesome. If you ever need anything or you have a question, you will find many many people here with good advice and tips to help. So ask away!!

I feel your confusion. Vaping is a whole new world of terminology. This is such a new industry so there are few standards in place as far as equipment.

Some clearomizers have replaceable heating coil heads, some do not. Those can be considered to be disposable when they stop performing. The ones with replaceable heads, you can buy just the coil heads from the same place you purchase the clearomizer. They are not intercompatible with other brands of clearomizers.

Go to You Tube to learn how to use your clearomizers. Just type the name of your particular clearomizer and several video will be returned in the search. You can learn a great deal from these videos. Reviewers like PBusardo do very thorough walk-throughs so search for his video's too.

Mount Baker Vapor has inexpensive juices to try. I also recommend Dripeez, a juice vendor that specializes in fruit flavors.

As far as replacing your tanks? As long as you keep them clean w/water or an alcohol they will last you quite awhile. Having spare parts is always a good idea. People do drop and brake things.

For juices...buy the smaller sample packs. 5...10...15ml bottles. Much cheaper...not as much juice wasted if you don't like it?

I order from Good Life Vapor...I've never been disappointed from any juice I've ordered from them.

Welcome to ECF. Yes, this can get very confusing in the beginning. There are many different toppers to put on top of your battery to deliver juice. It really boils down to a trial and error process. The easiest thing to do is to try a couple of different ones. I started with Kanger Evods and a Protank because they both use the same heads. The heads are replaceable and fairly cheap. You can find them around $6 for a 5 pack on sale at different vendors.

Juices are another story. There are hundreds and probably thousands of options. They are talked about all the time at ECF because they are key to being happy with vaping. Here is a link to the thread with the top 5 vendors. This will give you a sampling of who many people here think are their favorites to get their juices from.

Here is a link for where you can swap juices that you find you do not like with other people. I have done this and it is fun and a cheap way to try new vendors and flavors. No money changes hands. You trade juice for juice.

Do some reading on here. Just reading in the new member forum you will learn a lot. The veterans here are very good about explaining things and posting links. You can also go to the E Liquid Forum to read about juices. There is a Forum about clearomizers where you can type in the name of what you have and see lots of threads about it. Just look around here, you will get the hang of it.
