Hello, everyone. I quit smoking in December 2011, a few days after my 51st birthday. I have been smoking seriously for about 30 years.

I started with mall stick vapes, moved to Totally Wicked Tornado-Ts, but then got so aggravated with all the leaking getting everywhere. Drives me crazy. I was spending way, way, way too much time trying different set ups and switching tanks, and oh, I was getting so frustrated.

So, after sneakily reading the ECF forum for months, I finally took the advice off of one thread and bought a vtube, which arrived today. I dutifully charged the battery and promptly inserted it backward. Figured that out - finally. (If all else fails, read the instructions!) Then I was working with dual coil tank cartomizers I ordered, trying to make it work the way I thought it was supposed to work without burning it up/blowing it up/flooding it/drying it out. I have no idea if I have it right now, but it seems to be tasting pretty good.

I got the red vtube because it's shiny. I like shiny! Also, I wanted something that soccer moms parked next to me at red lights can see. They tend to glare at this well-meaning grandma who is NOT smoking with the grandkids in the car, thank you very much. At least now when they see this red thing, they will just think I'm doing drugs. Ha!

I have a question: I am having a terrible time figuring out if this thing is on or not. I supposed the LED thingy would light up when I vape, but it doesn't, so I can't ever tell if the thing is "on" or "off." The whole "press the power button for five seconds" does not work with mine. It turns off - or so it seems. Can I just keep the thing on all the time, or will that run down the battery? I'm not wanting to hold it for five seconds on and off because I don't know if it's then on or off! Right now, it seems on because I'm vaping. (That sounded stupid, but I think you know what I mean?) So, I don't want to turn it off!

And do you think this dual coil tank cartomizer is a wise thing to use? My main desire is that I don't want leaking. Ever. Again. Ever. Ever. Ever.

Thank you. Nice to meet you!

vaping on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and lovin' it!

No need to turn it off unless you're going to put it in your pocket or something where the button may get accidentally pressed. Doesn't use any power unless the button is pressed anyway.

No, dual coils are less than useless. When you can, replace them with 3.0 ohm Boge single coils. Leaking will not be an issue.

I really depends on how much your vaping as to level drop in the tank. As long as the top filler area looks a bit wet your doing good and there is really no need to drip more in there, but as I just found out that also depends on the type of liquid you are using. If it is 100% VG you may need to put a notch in the cartomizer so the juice can get in better.

OOoooo, this thing is getting better and better! However, do I need to every once in a while drip a few drops into the filler area down through the drip tip? I've never used this kind before, and it doesn't seem the juice is getting lower. Maybe I'm not even vaping right!!?
Hello.
If you are using a cartomizer you will actually need to take the drip tip off of the carto and "top it off" ever so often, I don't think dripping a few drops into the drip tip will be sufficient to keep the you up and running at a good rate.
Gotta keep that filler good and wet to keep the vapor coming. I usually drip 5-10 drops every hour or so, it will vary based on how much you vape.
Good luck and happy vaping!

Thank you so much. That's what I was wondering. It's a bit annoying that all of this is not explained in the paperwork when you get your stuff! Thank goodness for y'all. I appreciate the help so much, especially because y'all have to probably repeat every day to new people like me.
Thanks a bunch!

I canNOT believe the difference in using the ego battery (I think that's the generic term?) and this vtube. I have it at 4.0 and it's fabulicious. It's extremely satisfying.

Is it normal to be able to hear yourself as you drawn in? I mean, it's just a little sucking sound, but it would be very noticeable to others in the room, if there were others in the room. LOL

To determine if the power is on just hit the red button once. If the Vtube is on the LED will light up, if the LED stays dark it's off. I love my Vtubes!

Thank you so much, Mr.durgidog! I'm afraid that I won't be able to use anything else now that I'm mastering this. I had no idea that higher voltage would make any difference at all, but it's huge. HUGE. And the price with the 30 percent off? Teehee!

Thanks, Mr. Covert. I have several juices, but all are PG or half and half. They seem to be doing fine. I'm still in the shopping mode of where is the best online store that has the best juices and prices. Seems this business is growing because there are so many venders to choose from.

No problem : ) There are ALOT of great juice vendors out there. I've only tried four so far and have been very happy with all of them. Still have a huge bookmark list of more to try. Backwoods Brew Casablanca is my all day juice and I just recieved my Boba's Bounty today and like it too. Look up Vapenstein his reviews are great

If you get tired of the whole cartomizer deal and want more juice and a not bad look try out the Vivi Nova tanks.

Some don't like them but I've had great success with them and at 10.99 it's hard to go wrong. It's a great solution for those who don't want to be bothered with slotting carto's for tanks. And when they burn out just screw in a new 2.8ohm head. Process takes about 10 seconds. I believe the replacement heads are around 3 dollars but I've yet to have my original heads go bad so they do last a while. 3 dollars every three weeks is not so bad. They also don't leak which is a giant plus.

They hold a fair amount of juice and wick really well if you give them a swirl once in a while, it become second nature. They aren't for everyone because the draw is a bit different. However, with the 2.8 ohm head you can go through a lot of volt options for each juice and see what you like. Great option if you don't want to be bothered with dripping, filling or carto punching.

OK. And about the 3.0 ohm Boge single coils I should get - is that an atomiser or cartomizer? I'm still learning these terms ...

From your first post it sounds like you are using DCT's (dual coil tanks). Did your VTube come with a cartomizer? The one I just ordered did. Since it sounds like preventing leaks is a priority for you, here's what my research seems to indicate:

[Disclaimer: I was up to speed on this stuff a few years ago, but lapsed and just starting looking back into it today. I did a fair amount of digging, and as a result I ordered a VTube, a handful of cartos, and a selection of clearomizers. Folks that know more than me, please feel free to correct any of this.]

Cartomizers are the least likely to leak but may have an effect on flavor, due to the filling they use, and may need topping off more frequently. They are also the cheapest of options by far, but can be reused the least.

Clearomizers are between the two extremes, a bit more likely to leak but have a cleaner taste because they use wicks instead of all that filler. They have the added benefit of allowing you to see how much liquid is left. With proper cleaning, they can supposedly be reused many times.

Tanks are possibly the most likely to leak (which seems true in your experience) but their hit is similar to a carto because they usually contain one internally. Their main strength is that they can contain a lot more liquid at a time. They also allow you to see how much juice they contain. Tanks can be reused nearly indefinitely, but their internal cartos or atomizers need to be replaced at times. Neither tanks nor clearos require topping off, but you sometimes need to flip them around a bit to soak the wicks.

Finally, dripping is literally dripping a few drops of juice directly on an atomizer, which gives the best flavor but requires frequent replenishing due to the lack of a reservoir.

Personally, it seems that clearos will be my go-to, though I will keep some cartos around for flavor variety. I was most intrigued by gotvapes.com's PumpCart solution, which seems like it might provide near dripping-quality flavor with a reservoir: GotVapes 510 Bridgeless PumpCart System HV 3.1 ohm SMOKY

I did not research that one at all, the demonstration video alone was enough for me to pony up $11. I'd guess it's as or more likely to leak than a tank but provides a hit pretty similar to dripping.

I bought one of those, as well as a Vision Extreme, and a Phoenix Top Coil. I really wanted the Phoenix Bottom Coil, but they are currently sold out. Those are clearos for which I've read a good number of positive reviews.

Hopefully this helps you figure out where on the flavor/leak slider you would like to be! :)

edit - PS: With the VTube, you generally want your resistance on all of these to be close to 3.0 ohm. The items I purchased ranged from 2.8-3.1 ohm.

Ezkill whats the draw like on those ? Been debating those as well.

Some people say it's airy but I don't find it to be that way.

For the low price they really do deliver. Good vapor and fairly clean taste. It's nice not to have to worry about the cartomizer slipping out and juice dumping all over.

If I hadn't moved on to these rebuildable atomizers I would still be using them. I still vape on the nova's while I'm rebuilding coils in the Penelope's.
