Hey Guys.

So thanks to plenty of suggestions here I was able to decide on a setup and I received it today. I went with the Apollo Vtube kit with a vivi nova tank. Using 24mg bobas bounty I was surprised at how much vape feels like real smoke, I would say its exactly the same - perhaps a little more harsh though. Not sure how much I like the flavor of bobas bounty but to each their own. So I have a few questions going forward;

1.) I was reading a lot of people seem to clean their wicks, is this only required when changing flavor in the tank or should it be done regularly?

2.) How often must the head inside the vivi nova be replaced? (or rebuilt as some do i guess)

3.) Do the wicks also need to be replaced regularly? If so how often?

4.) The warning label on the Apollo vtube says to never keep the atomizer connected to the unit for extended periods of time when not in use. If I plan on vaping maybe once an hour should I be removing it in between? If not, should I be removing it during bed?

5.) Any other regular maintenance I need to know of?

Sorry for all the questions! With the amount of analogs Ive smoked I have a feeling me and my vtube are gonna spend a lot of time together, I want to make sure I'm doing things right.

Anything else you think I may need to know feel free to yell it at me.

Thanks!

I'm not much help on most of those since I just got my Vivi Nova a week or so ago and haven't bothered trying to clean it yet or anything.

For number 4 I wouldn't worry about it. I've got an LT (same thing) and only take the tank/carto off if it's not going to be used for a long time (a week or more). It's a sealed connector so you don't really have to worry about liquid getting in it unless it leaks a lot and runs down the sides. I do turn it off overnight though since I can't see any reason to leave it on then.

Cleaning the wick only involves rinsing it in hot water. It's a good idea to rinse the whole tank every 2nd or 3rd fill, whether you change flavors or not. Rinse when you change flavors, although if it's a similar flavor, it's not a huge deal and you can get away with just adding the new flavor to an empty tank.

2.) How often must the head inside the vivi nova be replaced? (or rebuilt as some do i guess)
When it quits tasting good after a dry burn. A lot depends on the specific juice you use. Darker and high VG juice gunks up the coil faster than lighter and high PG juice. I have some that I've just kept refilling for 5 tanks or more. I don't bother dry burning anymore because it's faster and easier just to wind a new coil and wick. Otherwise, give it a rinse and dry burn when the coil looks heavily crusted. It'll work fine until it burns out. If you dry burn it after every rinse, it'll be quicker and easier, but you might be shortening the life of the coil.

3.) Do the wicks also need to be replaced regularly? If so how often?
Only when the coil is replaced. You can't replace the wick without replacing the coil and the coil will need to be replaced before the wick dies.

4.) The warning label on the Apollo vtube says to never keep the atomizer connected to the unit for extended periods of time when not in use. If I plan on vaping maybe once an hour should I be removing it in between? If not, should I be removing it during bed?
Sounds like CYA to me. I suppose they're worried about leakage. What is an "extended period of time"? I leave my Vivi Novas on my Vtube overnight all the time. My Vtube never goes without use for more than 12 hours at a time anyway. If I was going to put it up for a week I'd probably take anything off of it, but I can't see any point to that suggestion. Maybe they're concerned about the possibility of the Vtube just spontaneously firing on its own. Regardless, we aren't talking hours, more like days or weeks.
5.) Any other regular maintenance I need to know of?
For the Vivi, no. Rinse it out every 2nd or 3rd tank full, dry burn if the coil is gunky. That's all you need to do.
For the Vtube, just keep the battery connector clean and dry and lube the threads on the battery cap with noalox or G95.
Sorry for all the questions! With the amount of analogs Ive smoked I have a feeling me and my vtube are gonna spend a lot of time together, I want to make sure I'm doing things right.

Get some wire and 2mm wick for the Vivi Nova. The short wicks are far better than the long ones. It's way easier than you'd ever imagine to recoil and rewick them. See Youtube for videos. Five wraps of 34ga. Kanthal-A wire, will give you about 2.8 ohms, which is ideal for the Vtube. You can recoil the included 1.8ohm and 2.4ohm heads so that you get three good, useable heads in one kit. 75 feet of Kanthal wire and a couple feet of wick will run you about $10 and it takes about 5 minutes to rebuild one. Seriously, it's harder and more time consuming to clean the coil and wick than it is just to toss it out and make a new one.

1: just rinse them every once in a while. The vivi makes it very easy since you can take it apart. Just unscrew the top, takeoff the tube and rinse under water. Then I path them dry and vape.

2: when it burns out. I've only had my vivi for a day, but it's just like other clearos. Most of my clearos have lasted a month burning about 3 ml a day in them. if it tastes bad, do a dry burn. nice thing about the vivi is you can replace the head or rewire them yourself. I know how to rewire, but havent tried yet. I dont know where to get the wire and wick or what size wire to use for 2.4 ohms

3:you will need a new coil before wicks.

4:I would take it off it you are going more than a day without using, but thats about it. I usually leave my take on during the day, but take it off if I will not be vaping it at all. This way just if it would accidently fire the coil or leak, there wont be a problem. Better to be safe than sorry

5: thats about it. Only other thing you will need to do is clean the threads where it connects to your battery

If the Vtube is stainless or chrome it as a spring loaded center pin that can block off the air flow on the Vivi. A 510/510 extension or a eGo/510 adapter will fix it. If it's an aluminum Vtube, it'll work o.k. out without any adapter. If you cant' get an adapter right away, a plastic plumbing washer between the tank and tube will work in a pinch.

Where can you get the wire and what do you use for wick? I don't want to use cotton since you can't dry burn it at all.

I want between 2.4-2.8 ohms. Can you get the wire locally

Is it just a really tight draw, or is it practically closed off? I thought I had read somewhere else someone was using a Vivi V2 with no adaptors for their vTube, but if that's the case I'm off to buy more knickknacks...
