I started vaping a couple weeks ago with the Smoov e-cig. The carto's only last 2-3 days and start tasting funky. I've read that they should last weeks. I keep it topped off, don't over fill, took off the white cap thing that it comes with and replaced with a tip. The tip helps take away some of that chemical taste. Shouldn't the carto's last longer? I've also tried boiling them for 10 minutes as some people have suggested but that ruined them totally. Also, do I have to use only Smoov cartos or can I buy from some other vendor?

Hey Mookie.

The Smoove looks, looks, looks like a KR808D-1. Hopefully dormouse, one of our resident experts, chimes in to validate this. There are KR808's that look almost exactly the same but are incompatible, like the KR808D-2.

Anyhow, I find that most manufacturer's prefilled cartos are grossly advertised as lasting much longer than they actually do. An inherent problem with this is what I believe to be the "vape effect" - because vaping is so much more convenient/clean/awesome than smoking cigarettes, you simply end up doing it more. A lot more. Perhaps the cartos would last the few weeks that they claim, if you puffed it 10 times a few sessions throughout the day.

I can't testify to the Smoov-branded cartos, but I do know that there are definitely good carto manufacturers and bad ones. For instance, I started with an nJoy brand PV, & they came with RN4081 cartos that were cheaply made (plastic) and the filler tasted disgusting. I purchased some Boge 4081 cartos, & they were aluminum, much higher quality, and tasted terrific, with better filler material. If your cartos taste decent for a few days, then taste weird, then a few things could be happening. The filler could be burning prematurely (that taste never goes away once it singes), the juice could be leaving sediment on the coil, etc.

I'd say get these and you should be good. Don't forget to hit the 20% off link in the upper left, and get the 3ohm cartos so you don't burn your battery out. Boge cartos are reliable and you should be good. You can try the Smoov juice, or order from some of the other fabulous vendors.

Report back.

Yep, looks like a D1, but it's pretty hard to tell from pics if it's a D-1 or a D-2. D-1 is much more popular and what most people sell. The bad news is that the threading is slightly different between the two and they are not compatible with each other. The good news is that if you do have a D-2 battery, you can still use D-1 cartos with a D-2 to D-1 adapter. There are some vendors that sell empty D-2 cartos you can fill yourself as well.

As for the carto's longevity, they are slated to last a few days to a few weeks. If you're getting a bad taste though, I suspect that you vaped it too dry and burnt the filler or the wick. Once that taste gets into an atty/carto, it ain't coming out. Make sure to keep your cartos wet, and stop vaping at the first hint of a bad taste. That's your signal that it's time to refill.

I had the same problem with the first e-cig I bought. Spent a small fortune on prefilled cartos that were nearly dry. They were lasting me hours not weeks. If you are able (I don't know anything about your type) order juice and refill the cartos yourself. It's cheaper and you can top them off and make them last longer.

I started vaping a couple weeks ago with the Smoov e-cig. The carto's only last 2-3 days and start tasting funky. I've read that they should last weeks. ...

This is the thing...

All Carots are not the Same.
All Cartos are not made the Same.
All e-Liquids are not the Same.
All Vapper's don't Vape the Same.

So it's realy hard to tell how long a Carto is supposed to last.

For Filler Type Cartos, I hade the Best Luck with Blank Boge 2.0 on a 3.7v PV.

I agree, zoid, but many of these companies (not all, I'm sure) misrepresent how long a prefilled will last. They should't just throw time frames out there without some type of data to support it.

Some of the Time Frames I have seen kinda make me shake my head.

I remeber in a CE2 thread someone said that they could go 3 weeks without Dry Burning or Cleaning. Everone wanted to know what type e-Liquid the member was using and debating the Pros & Cons of VG:pG, Flavorings, Colored verses Clear e-Liquid etc for CE2 life. This went on for about 60 or 70 posts.

I asked the member who could go 3 weeks without Dry Burning how long they go between refills. He told me about a week. LOL

So I guess if a person only hits there Carto 4 or 5 times a day that they will last a Long Time. Where as some people have their PV Duct Taped to their hand and go thru 12 or 15ml a day they don't last as long.

What to me is a more Informative post is if someone says that I have used about 3ml of e-Liquid in a Carto before it started to taste funky. Time doesn't matter. But the amount of ml used in a Carto give a person a guesitmation on to how well it is doing.

Also what type of e-Liquid used is nice to know.

I vape High VG, Sickly Sweet e-liquids most of the time. They clog / gunk up a Carto/Atty/CE2 about twice as fast as High PG "normal" sweet e-Liquids.

I've never tried the prefilled type. I drip fill them myself. I'll look into getting some Boge 4081 carts to see if those are better. I was also wondering if it made a difference if it was made from plastic or metal? Maybe that would effect the taste. Thanks for the info!

You should have mentioned that your using a RN4081. Some of the WORST cartos I ever tried were RN4081.

If you going to stick with your BSE103/RN4081 Batteries, there is a RN4081 Sub-Forum here on the ECF. You might start a New thread there and ask about what Cartos people like and also the Elusive 4081 Battery to 510 Carto Adapter.

BTW - Boge doesn't make RN4081 Cartos that I know of.

That is a very good point. I haven't really been paying attention to how much juice I use. One day when using the same juice all day I think I went through at 10ml. I was using the Smoov juice which doesn't say PG/VG amounts. I just ordered some with less VG because I was hoping that will take away some of the sweat taste and make my cartos last longer.

... Do I need to worry about battery volt and amps or whatever other stuff they talk about? I'm totally lost with what half of what these terms mean.
Thanks sooooo much!

No. Don't worry about Volts and Watts for the time being.

Just know that a RN4081 is a good unit but that there are Very few things that will fit onto the Battery. A 510 Type Battery has about 2 Gazzilion different types of Cartos/Attys/CE2's/Tanks/Mods/etc that you can screw onto your 510 type Battery.

If you went thru 10ml a day and your cartos lasted 2~3 days that isn't to far off the mark.

Less VG helps with Everything except making Vapor. Most people start out using 60PG:40VG or Half and Half.

I like Vapor and Love Sweet. So I use High VG. But it does shorten the lifespan between cleanings.

My mistake - I'm not using Boge 4081. I was replying to a previous post that recommended those. I thought they were saying that was a good carto to try.

No Problem.

Sounds like you have a KR808D-1. Noting wrong with that PV. And you have many choices of Carto Types. I think Boge makes Cartos for the KR808D-1.
