I'm only 5 weeks into vaping exclusively (no analogues in that period) and relatively new to this forum. After discovering ProVape products I'm delighted with the results and over the moon with the 2 P3s and Radius I have. My tanks all take ready made coils. I have 2 Kabukis and both sizes of Nautys. So I thought I would move on and start to learn how to build my own coils.

So I purchased a Kayfun 4 with all the accompanying paraphernalia to build coils, some 28 ga. Kanthal A1 and Cotton Bacon for wicks. Having done my homework, watching the Qorax and Grimmgreen youtube tutorials twice over, I set aside today to build my first coil and use the Kayfun. And I've been struggling for 4 hours. Here's the problem:

With both the Qorax video and Steam Engine up on the screen, I'm building somewhat reasonable 2.5 mm coils, about 6 wraps and achieving around 1.5 ohms. On my p3 (I don't have an ohms meter) the coil fires up after I've snipped the legs as close as is possible to the screws. The coils glow just fine. But when I wick them with the Cotton Bacon, soak them and then load the deck on my P3 to test fire. Instead of the usual fizz and crackle, I get......nothing! The P3 either says Not enough voltage or Change Atty, or "Empty". My batteries are almost fully charged. I've now built 4 coils and wicks and same result. On two of them, I've then removed the gooey wicking and fired the coils again without the wicking and they glow just fine. I've used more cotton, less cotton, and near enough as much wicking as both Qorak and Grimgreen have used in their videos. I must know those videos off by heart now! I've tried them with the tank and on two different P3s. Same result. The coil fires up without the wick. But with a wick........no dice!

I'm now looking lovingly at my Kabukis with their drop-in Nautilus coils........

HELP!
