hey guys im starting my long process with quitting smoking. i have a 1 pack a day reds habit that im kicking in about 4 hours or less. i went out and bought an off the wall brand e-cig at the local smoke shop in town. so far i like it alot and im looking at diff models and things.

i basically want to be able to smoke at work (i work warehouse and its no prob that we smoke analogs inside) and im more or less worried about smoking something that doesnt look like a normal cig. so what brands look like the real thing.

my other question does anyone have a Red Dragon that they use at all. ive been eyeballing this starter kit and carts for a few weeks now and have the ability to finally order one.

so basically this post is get some ideas on what i should go with. thanks in advance and sorry if these questions keep coming up.

Rule of Thumb from Seasoned Vapers: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance and reliability.

Using prefilled carts provides the worst taste and costs the most. That's what a Red Dragon requires. It gets almost as many negative reviews as the Blu.

Most important point: if you want to avoid frustration and inconsistency, DO NOT get an auto switch device. Stick with the manual switch devices with the small button. They provide much better performance, consistency and reliability.

The best PV's made are the premiere devices which do not look like the real thing. But since appearance is more important to you than performance, I won't list those. The two manuals that are the closes in size to the real thing and still do a fairly good job, with some limitations, are the Joye 510 and the MANUAL (not auto) DSE901.

Here are some reputable and well supported suppliers:

Home - Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!
Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop
www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's

ok ill look into those right now i just have an off brand one that im trying to figure out what it is lol
Hey, zx3stick...

I can relate to your starting-out process. Eventually I settled on two different models -- the 801 (a "pen style" e-cig) and the Joye 510, which is available under several model names. Until Aug. 31 Eastmall.net has a "PCC kit" sale going for the 510 -- 1 battery, 1 atomizer, 2 (pre-filled) cartridges (you can refill them yourself afterward), one PCC (personal charging case -- a carry-it-anywhere device with its own battery that can recharge a 510 battery without your having to use AC power or a USB connection), and a USB cable (presumably for the PCC). There's no AC charger in the kit. You can buy it as an extra. (Note: I have no connection with Eastmall.net except as a satisfied customer).

They also have starter kits for the 510 that don't include the PCC. With those you get 2 atomizers and 2 batteries and some other stuff. More on Eastmall.net.

I've also bought from Rocky Mountain Vapor and they're a good place, too. Both companies are really service-oriented.

The 801's got great advantages in terms of much larger cartridge capacity and much longer battery life. But I use the 510 much more than the 801 these days. The 510's atomizer seems to burn hotter, making the vapor seem a bit more like "real" smoke to me. And now that the on-line vendor Totally Wicked has longer-life 510 batteries, that has helped a lot (I no longer feel I have to carry a 510 PCC with me -- I just take three of those longer-life batteries with me and I'm set for quite a while).

Whatever you get, I would recommend that you get at least 1 spare battery, 1 spare atomizer, and 1 spare AC charger. These things can all go bad on you and you don't want to be without the stuff you need. (So far I haven't had any batteries go bad on me, though I have a couple of atomizers that died, alas.) Also be sure to order enough e-liquid to last you for a while. One of my friends in these forums suggests that you'll likely use about 3ml of the e-liquid per day...I've never actually measured my own daily use. That was a major mistake I made at the beginning: I didn't order any e-liquid and had no idea how quickly the pre-filled cartridges would run out!

Anyway, the forum's a great resource, so keep askin' questions...

thank you the only reason im looking at red dragons is because the atty is in the cart and gets changed anytime you change the cart but like i said im ready for opinions. if i post up a picture of the one i have can someone identify it?
The very first e-cig I bought was some kind of super-ultra-micro type that had those 'cartomizers.' The problem is, the juice runs out extra-fast and then whaddya got? Nuttin'. It turned out to be possible to re-fill those ones, but I moved on quickly enough to the 510, thanks to advice I got in this forum. (The one I bought was insanely expensive...many newbies make this mistake. Wish I'd known about this forum before I bought the unit with the cartomizers!)

For sure, units with carts that you expect to refill, yourself, take more work. But in my experience they're a way better value for the money!

(I'm too embarrassed ever to admit to anyone what I spent on that first e-cig...)

The first e-cig I got was a Red Dragon. I still pick it up occasionally, but don't use it regularly.

While the cartomizers sound like a great idea, I just don't like them as much as seperate carts--preferably blank so I can fix them up like *I* want them:p. I got menthol, and the taste is very, very light--almost not there. You can put some of your own liquid in them, but it is a hassle.

But that is just my experience, and yours may be different. They do work just fine, and you get the nicotine.

I think you would be a lot happier with a 510, though.

And, I may be the only person who does not hate automatic batteries, so if you get a 901 or an 801, try both kinds of batteries. Sometimes you just need both hands to do something else while you vape, and while those manual buttons are nice, they are not hands-free. I have and use both kinds of batteries, and am satisfied.

Janty Sticks are real nice, too;)

I don't hate 'em either. There's certainly an advantage to having a sealed manual battery so that dripping doesn't risk getting juice into the battery -- but that aside, the automatic 801s have been fine by me (even though I prefer the 510 most of the time). I've had only one problem with an 801 battery firing without my wanting it to, and that didn't last long. Haven't seen it happen again...

thank you all for your coments ill be seaching a little this week before i make my purchase unless i already made a good choice to start with.

I got from Jim's post that it's compatible with the 401 and Jim is an excellent resource for those ecigs.

I'm a new member here also. I don't want to knock the 510, as i have never even tried it, but i bought a 901 starter kit from eastmall and absolutely love it. They even carry the 901 manual batteries now, just make sure you pick up a manual bat. converter for the AC charger if you decide on it. I agree with the eastmall recommendation- very service oriented and surprisingly fast shipping. The only thing i hate is their $50 minimum. Happy vaping.

I have a 401 (Dragon). So I'm pretty sure you will thoroughly enjoy your 401 when you get it.

ok just made my huge order with a retailer from the forum, i ordered a m401 a ton of cars (75ish), juice, attys, and a few extra batts. i should be set and i will be looking forward to it. i had to go back to analogs because the ecig i bought locally was a POS so i will be getting rid of it very very soon or just using it as a backup if the carts work with it.
