Hi there.
I am about to attempt to make a wick for my atomizer. I understand how to roll it, oxidize it.
Not sure if the wick when fitted into the tank, should it touch the bottom of tank, or should there be clearance left ??.
Have viewed several YouTube vids, but they are not clear regarding positioning of s/s wick in the tank.(or I missed it)
Thanks in advance for helping out.

What rebuildable are you using? The general idea is to isolate the wick completely from the coil. Supposed to be done through oxidation but lots of times you can get micro-shorts through a SS bodied RBA (in the wick hole, the bottom of the tank or touching the top cap). Of note, wick/coil doesn't need to be perfect at first. As you're breaking it in if you get a metallic or burnt taste try turning the wick a 1/4 turn. Eventually enough juice cooks into the SS mesh to cover any unoxidized areas and when you twist it they move under the coil.

should've answered your question: I always lift a wick ~1-2mm off bottom of the tank, cut even with top of center post so doesn't touch top cap. I roll fat wicks so they do always touch inside the wick hole.

It's OK for the wick to touch the bottom. It also touches the wick hole. Both parts are at the same voltage, the negative.

It's ok to touch if the wick is fully oxidized. But, because the bottom and top of the tanks are part of the negative path you can get some funky flavor issues if the current tracks through the wick (SS mesh is unfortunately a conductive material unoxidized) instead of following the designed path from (+) to (-) through the resistance wire coil only. The other issue with touching bottom has to do with juice flow. A little space at the bottom allows air bubbles to come out the wick center channel (made by what ever you roll on - I use a 15ga blunt tip needle) which allows the wick to "load" with juice. Some folks will cut a 45 deg slant at the bottom, I just lift it a little.

Thanks gavind4.
Watched the video link, fantastic, just the info in simple to follow video instructions.
Will be placing order for mesh from The Mesh Co, who are only 90 miles from where I live in the UK, great contact.
Thanks again.

Sweet!! That stuff keeps me from going Bodmin! Just for kicks do a search on ECF for Chrissie, she is over in Cornwall and works on the forum AAEC-UK. ***warning**** She has 9 CATS!!!!! When I come to the UK I stay on the Cambridge side! There is a UK forum on here & you have the posts to go there if you wish. Good Day.
