Hi all

I have been a smoker for ummmmmmmmm - way too long, almost 30 years :( And I am ready to quit.

I have not bought any ecigs yet and am just wondering what is the best and where I can get the best deal. And do I buy a starter kit or buy everything separately (I have done a little research) ;-)

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Linda

The best e-cig for you depends on a number of factors. How much did you smoke? Whay type, ultra-lights, full-flavor, filterless? Are you going to be at home all the time, or out and about? Do you want something that feels like a cig or does it matter? How much do you want to spend? Lots more questions than answers I'm afraid. Just give us more information and you'll get better responses.

Hi and welcome!

Go for a starter kit for sure at first. they usually come with a couple batteries + charger and some sample prefilled cartridges so you can get an idea of nic levels. Where you buy is completely up to you, there is a ton of places out there and they all pretty much offer the same thing when it comes to starter kits. I always recommend the Tornado from totallywicked-eliquid. TW is great and they have some coupon codes out there if you look.

I smoke 3/4 pack a day - menthol lights - I am home and out and about. Something that feels like a cig would be cool, but not sure it matters. Can't spend a whole lot - just want something that works and acts like the real thing but will help me to stop the cravings of the real thing. The whole idea for me is to buy something to help me gradually quit altogether and I don't want to spend a fortune to do that.

Hope that helps.

A good way to start is buy getting an eGo starter kit. It is bigger than a real cigarette but you will need it for the battery life. There are many people here that will come along and agree with this. Many people have first bought mini e cigarettes and shortly after purchased an e cig with a bigger battery(I myself included). You will also need to get e liquid. You will use between 80-120mls per month on an average. You can get a few kinds but if you can afford to get 120mls get it. I would get 4 30ml bottles of different flavors to find out which ones you like then you can order in bulk.

After you order just read read read. You will find many tips and tricks here.

As far as a good deal you will have to check the suppliers on this sight. They are all reputible companies. If they werent they would not be on this site for long.

If you have any other questions just ask and someone will answer.

Good luck. It is easier than you think. I gave up cigarettes in 3 days. I smoked 2 packs a day for almost 30 years.

If you're wanting something that feels like a cig and aren't too worried about battery life, the KR808 or a 510 would fit the bill. They're both pretty inexpensive at around $30-$35 for a starter kit. If you want long battery life, got for an eGo or Riva. Starter kits are coming down in price and can be had for around $35 too, but they are a lot bigger and heavier, about the size of a medium sized cigar. If you haven't already done so watch these videos http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html, they provide a lot of information that you'll find useful. Starter kits are the best way of getting into a PV because they provide all the basics to get you going. Just get a few bottles of juice in different flavors and strengths and you're set for a while. If you like menthol's just get one bottle of straight menthol nic juice and you can add it to other flavors to "mentholize" them.

The day I got my first PV was the day I quit smoking. Some people keep going with the analogs for a while, but most of us quit eventually. I haven't had a cig since July. I tried a couple and couldn't take it, they tasted terrible. So quitting is definitely possible.

Hi freebieluvr, welcome to the forum. I spent several days researching lots of different cv models and settled on the eGo; it seems that it was a great idea but many here have ended up getting that after they've plowed through several other models and I sure didn't have the funds to do that.

My analog of choice was Marlboro Menthol Lights to the tune of about a pack a day. The biggest transition to the pv is to NOT expect it to be exactly like a cigarette - it's just not going to be. You aren't burning tobacco/paper and you aren't getting hundreds of toxic chemicals. After 2 days, I actually liked the menthol flavor juice and haven't smoked a real cigarette since the day I got my eGo in the mail - don't want one and the idea of it makes me sick.

Get a kit to start and get some menthol cartridges or menthol filled cartomizers (my personal preference). From what I've seen, you aren't going to find a huge difference in price between the various vendors and the ones here seem to be well liked. I went through vaporkings and was happy with them but you'll have to look around and see what works for you.

36 mg for 3/4 pack a day menthol light smoker is wayyyyy to high IMO..... wouldnt go higher that 24 myself... thats what i started with i smoked 1 1/2 a day menthol lights im down to 6 mg and loving it :)

I was kind of thinking the same thing because I went with the 18. However, the poster that recommended that may have been thinking that the transition would be easier going with the higher nic count. I did and am doing great on 18 though.

Thats why they can always mix it down. The price for 24mg or 36mg is the same. But if I mix it down You would get more for your money.

Thanks for your response - I will definitely check out the video. Congrats on not having a real cig since July - woohoo - that is what I like to hear :)
