What is the best ecig product/kit I can buy on a tight budget? I am a casual smoker(one pack per week), but switching to ecigs as a healthier alternative. Also, I've seen people talking about manual vs automatic battery. What's the difference, which is better? I'm considering one of Vapor 4 life's starter kits as well as totally wicked. Your opinions are greatly appreciated!

re: auto vs manual...

every e-cig has an "on" switch that must be activated and held for the duration of your drag. With auto's you activate and hold the switch using your breath and with manuals you use your finger. Auto's work because you draw air through the battery so it must have a hole in it so the air will pull through -- many find this to be a downside because if any ejuice leaks in there then the battery will die. Also, many automatic batteries can be activated with loud noises, vibration, strong winds... so often you need to disassemble your e-cig to keep it from firing off in your pocket. The great majority of e-cig users prefer a manual battery and they only take about an hour to get used to.

Re: what to get....

I think getting the vapor4life starter kit would be a great idea! Since you don't smoke heavily, having something easy to use is key and not much is easier than the KR808D-1 (model #) that they sell there.

Good luck! :)

The two most recommended starters are KR808D-1 which is also sold in colors by Vapor4Life.com (and that's where the most prefilled cartomizers are) or Joye 510 which is a 3-piece (battery+atomizer+cart) but it can be used as a 2-piece - there is a small selection of prefilled cartomizers fand plenty of blank cartomizers.

I vape them, both as manuals and both with cartomizers. Cartomizers are a slight extra expense - they are disposable atomizer+cart in one piece and they hold twice as much juice and you don't need to add juice as often as with atomizer+cart. if you keep a cartomizer damp, even a heavy vaper can get 4+ days use out of one and more out of some. As a light vaper you could probably get a couple of weeks use out of a cartomizer or more if you keep it damp. They cost $2-3 apiece.

Battery life for a light to moderate vaper
Joye 510 or KR808D-1 shorty: 2-3 hours
Joye 510 w/ mega xl batteries or KR808D-1 standard: 3-5 hours
KR808D-1 xl: 4-5 hours but do not fit in the PCC

If you want super-long battery life then you need to go to fatter-battery versions like Ego or Riva 510 in the 510 line, or PigCig or Elegant Easy in the KR808D-1 line

Hey 3littlebirds,
Another newbie here also.
I tried 6 different brands before I settled on the Bloog.
The Maxx Fusion is the latest technology, just out in Dec. of last year.
You may want to take a look at it as well. (bloog.com)

The noise issue is true in some of the other units, but I haven't had that problem with mine yet. I have even left it on a table in the middle of a very loud nite club without any problems.

Obviously the choice is yours in the end. I wish you the best of luck and also congratulations on joining the E-cig generation.

Yes, bloog would be an awesome choice! (another KR808D-1 model, it's supposed to be a very good one and people say the cartos are somehow superior)

You guys have been really helpful and the responses were so fast. I definitely came to the right place! I think I'm going with the starter kit from Vapor 4Life (KR808D-1). I checked out bloog and while that looks like a good option too, the only disadvantage I see (not really knowing what I'm looking at anyway) is that it doesn't come in pink with a zebra case :) I really appreciate all the help, and within a few days, I'll report back and let you all know how it's going. A few years back, my dad died of lung cancer, and as sad as that was for me to deal with, I want to do everything I can to make sure my son doesn't have to watch me go though the same thing.
