K, here goes. Trying to quit analogs; have tried several "mini" versions (blu, Mistic and a few others whose name I can't even remember).
I need to move on to something more advanced. I need something with longer battery life, better vapor and refillable cartos. Throat hit isn't such a big deal to me, I like vapor production better. Have tried some refilling Mistic cartos with liquid, which was a mistake to begin with. Then next mistake was buying liquid 70pg/30vg. Burned my throat like a u-kno-what.
I've read several threads here about KR8's and 510's, etc. but I'm still a little confused. Bear with me, I'm a granny. I think I'm looking for an ecig that is refillable with liquid, a higher mAh (I guess it's a longer lasting battery?) and reasonably lightweight. It doesn't necessarily have to look like an analog but I don't want to look like I'm smoking a foreign object either.
Any suggestions for me? I've also read that a lot of forum members suggest the eGo but I would like some other thoughts and experiences. Thanks to all who help out an older lady!!

Hi JoJo54 and welcome to ECF. Your question is the same a lot of new vapors ask.

I started with V2cigs because of the battery warranty but soon as i got comfortable using that type of ecig i began to be braver and tried out many tube types none of which i liked very long. I discovered that bottom feeders are the ultimate device for me and wish i had tried them a year ago :) It would have saved me so much money.

btw i am a granny too at 60 yrs old, so it is never to late for learning new things :D

I recommend an eGo battery for longer battery time (either the plain single voltage eGo battery or the variable voltage variety). There's a wide variety of toppers (juice delivery devices) to fit on the battery to make the vapor.

vivinovamini-twist.jpg

A commonly recommended eGo setup would look like this: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...06-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html

The more common juice delivery devices: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...k-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

Simple explanation of "mAh": This is the average length of time you can expect your battery to last between charges. 100 mAh is equal to 1 hour vaping time.

650 mAh = 6.5 hours
1000 mAh = 10 hours

Everyone recommends at least two batteries; one to vape while the other charges. Juice delivery devices will only last 2 - 4 weeks before needing replacement. Some of the clearomizer tanks are "rebuildable", which mean the wick/heating coil insides can be replaced more inexpensively than replacing the entire tank device.

You are right about the batteries: mAh = milliamps per hour, or "how long this battery should have a usable charge". [Edit: See Baditude's post above!] As for the difference between 510s, kr8, etc: think of the difference between regular wrenches and metric. These all do the same thing, but they are their own group. a 510 atty will not connect to a battery with threading for a 901 atty/cartomizer. It's a bit more in-depth when you get into "will such-and-such voltage of battery work with such-and-such atomizer" but DON'T WORRY about that now. Right now, finding a setup you can get comfortable with is the most important thing.

My advice to you is: Go on YouTube to try and find videos/reviews of models. This way you can SEE if it's something you'd be comfortable vaping. I, personally, started with a small pen-style (cig-a-like) 510-T from Joyetech. I quickly found that, even though i wanted something slim and cigarette-like, it didn't perform well enough NOR did it have enough battery life for me. I am currently waiting on some eGo spinner 1300 mAh batteries and some different clearomizers. My friend bought a Volt starter kit and seems very happy with it, so i'm going to say: if the eGo setups seem like too much for you, look at the Volt starter kits. If you DO get something "above" a Volt, just make sure the atty/cartomizer/clearomizers you get are threaded for the batteries you are buying. If you are having trouble with that -- Ask here! Also, there are tons of different options besides just Volt brand pen-styles...i just threw that out there because it's really working for my friend. Again, need more help with those? Ask here =)

Hope that kinda helped. <3

I will 2nd Baditude's ego suggestion. I got to try someone's out this weekend. She had the twist which was nice for varying vapor production. I hear they're not very expensive. I really like tanks, and vape all day so I needed a larger setup. I ended up with a Provari (pricy) and a Tesla (not so pricy) both have batteries that last a whole work day. Carto tanks for the top, but you can use pre filled regular cartos also.

All I can say is you came to the right place granny! These people will get you off the smokes.

and lets not forget this is our MAIN goal. no matter what device you settle on, no matter how many people say something is junk or this one is great (including myself) you use what is working for you and that is extending your life span. as long as you dont smoke cigs, we are all happy here. if it doesnt happen right away and you still smoke a few cigs here and there dont get discouraged or get down. it happens, its a addiction after all. you will eventually get off cigs and thats our main goal here

Hi Jojo54 and welcome to ECF. 61 yrs young this November  and 44 yrs of smoking behind me...hoping the same success for you.
If thinking about a variable voltage eGo class PV I recommend the Spinner. I own both the Spinner and Twist and prefer the Spinner cuz:
visible voltage markings
wider knurled voltage dial for easier turning
although 1 mm wider than the Twist it is shorter. Spinner comes in diff sizes- 400 ma- 1300 mah.
Twist Dial

If wanting a set voltage PV I would suggest the SLB Kgo. JoyeTech eGo fires at 3.3 volts and the Kgo fires at 3.7 volts. I own both and notice the difference. $43.00 for a Kgo starter kit.
To give you an idea of the size. Uses the more common 510 threaded accessories.

If buying a clearomizer you'd prolly want a Bottom Coil as they provide a much cooler vape than the top coil clearos/ tanks. Also you'll prolly want standard resistance juice delivery devices (holds and vaporizes the juice) rather than low resistance. The ohms of this JDS will be dependent on the PV you choose. Lower ohms= warmer/ harsher vape.

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.
Realize though sometimes if too high a ratio of VG wicking problems will occur. Many enjoy a 50/ 50 PG/ VG ratio. For high VG juices a very small amount of distilled water can be added to help thin it out.

I started with the ego saturn kit. I bought mine from a shop. It came with 2 batteries 2 tanks and a charger, with a 10ml of juice for 70 bucks. Started buying more stuff, it becomes a bit addictive. I had a kanger tank which was a bottom feeder, I liked it, but it would burn the juices and they tasted crappy. I do like the concept of a bottom feeder tho. I recently bought another vape, a mechanical one, im just waiting on it to arrive. Just a side note for the clearomizer some flavors will eat through the plastic. Had that happen to one of my kangers, juice ate through the tip went to hit it juice poured everywhere, bad situation.

Welcome to the forum! I was in your shoes about 2 weeks ago, and have bee smoke free for 15 days! I did it with the Halo G6 kit. A lot of people have recommended different kits, and that's ok! That's what makes this place great... different strokes for different folks. It's all about what you like and what keeps you off of the stinkies. My recommendation is the Halo kit, but do your homework. E-liquid USA | E-Cigarette Liquid | Electronic Cigarette | Halo E-Cigs is there website, and you can get a G6 starter kit w/2 batteries for $44.99, although I just looked at their website, and they are out of stock of all of the starter kits! They're business has exploded soon, but they seem to restock fairly quickly. They do have the Triton starter kits in stock, but that's a bit of a bigger system, haven't used one but heard lots of good things about it.

Hi Granny more2
What is a bottom feeder? Thanks.
Granny Jojo54

Hi :) This is a bottom feeder. A REO grand to be exact.

You put on your favorite carto (or atomizer / RBA) fill the internal 6ml bottle with your favorite juice, slap in the 2000 mah battery and vape all day! You just squeeze the internal bottle with your thumb every few puffs to keep your cartos wet. Their all I use. So simple, durable and user friendly. You should also check out the REO forum here on ECF - the friendliest, most helpful, happiest poeple on ECF. Here's a link:

They come in many more lady friendly colors too :)

Oh, and I avoid vape related YouTube videos like the plague. There's so much random babble in them. I'd rather be tied in a chair and forced to watch McDonald's commercials of people eating Big Macs.
