hello all.

i am new to the whole Ecig scene and the whole community so i wanted to start off by asking a few questions that are somewhat necessary for my understanding.
Now. I am not a smoker at all. I've never liked regular cigarettes at all ... the most i do is smoke a hookah. thats my most addiction and even then its not that bad.
the labor that goes into prepping a hookah is a nightmare for me and i have always been interested in vaping for quite sometime. The current mods on the market as well as the cloud forming style of vaping.

with that said i'll ask what i had always questioned in my head while watching YouTube videos (of which the video makers never respond to comments)

1) Now. I know that a majority of vapors are ex-cig people. and a question comes to mind instantly when seeing people vape is why do they not exhale via the nose? when you smoke a cigarette you do that. why is it when people vape they just pull the smoke into the mouth and throw it out?

2) the mods on the market all have tanks that overheat or rather just heat-up during regular use. no one on any video has ever complained about this issue. is it just overlooked? is it normal? i am confident it happens to all ... at least i'd like to think i am ...
i have two units with two tanks that both have the same issue. the evic-vt and the istick tc40w. both their tanks get mad hot.
now. the funny part about this the design. the part that does heat up which is the tank is whats closest to your mouth. and while the battery compartment is far away in your hand. which would you rather lose or get caught on fire your hand or your mouth? (or burned for that matter).

3) why is the community of vapors so "elite"/"rude" ... and unwelcome to new comers? most of the videos I've seen never take the time to explain minor details that may take 10 seconds extra to help people understand a fact or two about a review of a device.
for example i did a search on a "review of evic vt" on YouTube other the day and most videos would label their videos as a review they skip things the whole process of unboxing, filling the tank, and so on. a review is mostly a guide on how to use the product. you're sharing with people your thoughts and opinions. dont label a video "unboxing istick tc40w" and theres no unboxing. prime example (search for "eLeaf iStick TC40W Informational Unboxing! | TiaVapes" on youtube)

4) my last question is about making my own ejuice/liquid.
can i make a mix of just VG and skip the whole PG and Nicotine? i have no need for the whole nicotine at all and PG sometimes causes me a throat hit which i hate.

thanks to all who participate.

Welcome to ECF.

1. You can exhale through the nose, many people do, it just doesn't look as good on video because you don't get the big cloud stream.

2. Your tank shouldn't be heating up unless you are using it constantly without any breaks in between. If it's getting overly hot during normal use, something is wrong and you should investigate that.

3. Once you learn the basics, like filling a tank, changing a battery, replacing a coil, etc. it's pretty much universal unless there is a new design feature of whatever piece of equipment you're looking at. So, for the most part, a review will only cover what is different/unique to that piece of equipment. There are countless videos on the basics of stuff.

4. Yes, you can skip the nicotine and PG. Many flavorings come as a PG base, make sure you do your research as to which flavorings are appropriate for use in e-cigs. You want to avoid anything oil based.

@Lessifer summed it up pretty nicely.
I never exhale through the nose, not when I smoked or now when I vape, everyone has a different style.
I agree none of your tanks should be getting "mad hot" and if they are something is wrong because that is not normal.
On the videos, if you need more basic "how to" information look for ones that are are more along the lines of a tutorial versus a product review.

as a side note imho... It is never a good idea to join a forum and make unfavorable blanket judgements about the participants, which now includes yourself, I have found universally people pretty much treat you in the same manner you treat them.

Not sure where you've been visiting before coming here but there is nothing dark about vaping at all but some videos on YouTube that come up as vaping are about other substances that we both don't want to talk about here or are allowed to talk about here. If your just starting vaping then start off at low wattage and learn ohms law, battery safety and coil building between those three all the information you need being on this forum you'll be far better prepared to safely vape.

There's nothing mysterious about vaping, but it can be complex. If you watch a youtube review of a Honda Civic(car if you're not familiar), the reviewer probably won't go into details like how to start the ignition, or fill the gas tank, unless there is something unusual about it.

You may want to start off reading the stickied threads here: New Members Information

Most of the basics will be covered.

All you have to do here (on ECF) is ask questions. Everyone is very willing to help.

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

1. Vapor is about taste. I never really exhaled through my nose when I smoked cigs so it's not a habit I developed.
2. The tank shouldn't get hot. Warm really, at least for me. If the tank gets too hot, it's uncomfortable for me. The tank is closest to your mouth so that the vapor gets there warm. You can use long drip tips if you want a super cool vape.
3. As a whole I am rude as a result of life circumstances. For example, when I was younger and we went camping, my twin brothers thought it would be funny to put a beehive in my sleeping bag and then tie it tight at the neck and then whack the hive with branches. My mom thought that was hysterical (when she was liquored up on gin and tonics) and she'd yell "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (which isn't true, it just almost kills you). I got even in my teens when framed all three of them for drug trafficking and now they are all doing 15 to 20 years in a federal penitentiary. I send them bottles of honey for Christmas. I can't speak for reviewers but I think they don't cover the unboxing because other than you, who wants to see that? Most reviewers I've seen cover filling the tank so I am not sure what videos you are watching so switch reviewers.
4. Yes you can. You can just mix VG and flavoring without need for PG or nic. You'll probably want to thin the VG with water so it flows better into the wick.
