Hello all, newbie here. I had typed up a rather lengthy but good into post.....but then my FF crashed as I hit submit and I lost it.

Basically I was a 1 to 1.5 pad smoker for 15+ years and finally and decided to kick the habit. I can't keep up with my kids, hate going out in the cold, just all around sucks being a smoker.

Bought the Mistic at Wallyworld a week ago and actually enjoyed it. Decided to google ecig reviews and stupidly followed a few blogs to the SS Choice 7's. Besides the rather nice box they came in, I think they are pretty worthess, the cartos are way too expensive, battery life is bad, and half been craving a real cig. Basically I feel like I wasted $100, as I got a variety 10pk as well.

Been reading that a lot of people like the 510 series or the eGo and I don't know which is better for me. I am more of a chain vapor. I really don't need the cig look or feel. Just something that will last me that I am not having to refill constantly if that is possible. I do networking for an ISP so I am always at my desk.

Glad I have found this site even if it is a little too late. Rather be $100 lighter then multiple hundreds lol

Actually
I have a No7 (Back before name change) sitting in my rubbish bin......
They work, but the "510" connection isn't a 510 at all.
And I absolutely love their apple and blueberry.
So even if you made a little mistake, you can sell it to someone that's new.
But an ego would be a good starter kit.
The battery doesn't last long on them though...
But you can find some nice kits depending on what you want for around $20-$30.

All the best,
Titanium.

Welcome to ECF.

It's understandable the frustration that you have experienced so far with e-cigs. There's a lot to know when you are new and many of us made decisions to buy from companies that make an inferior product or who sell over-priced gear and juices.

But you did make the decision to stop smoking and got your foot into the door to start vaping.

And you found us! :headbang: Now you have a better idea of what you need as an individual vapor and can make more informed decisions on future purchases.

You will always get better performance and more satisfaction with the larger batteries. Whether that is with the mid-level eGo devices or going even bigger with the APV's (advanced personal vaporizers) or "mods" is up to you. They both have their pro's and con's.
__________________________

The eGo devices are of a smaller form factor and are cheaper to purchase initially. They usually fit easier in a pocket or purse, and much lighter to hold/carry than a mod. Battery time between charges is between 6-12 hours. The downside is that they are only designed to last several months, after that the rechargeable battery will die and need to be discarded and replaced. The narrow form factor of the eGos limits the number of types of juice carrying devices that can be used and the overall juice capacity of those devices.

The "mods" are generally of a larger form factor and more expensive initially because of the more durable construction and materials. These are basically durable battery holders and will last years of use. The replaceable batteries that they use are cheaper (less than $10) and will last up to a year in life. Battery charge time can be between 7 hours to all day use, depending upon the size of the battery. These devices larger form factor allow for larger tanks and capacities up to 8 ml of liquid.

There are many ways for your batteries to carry juice and heat it to make vapor. The following is a picture dictionary that I made that describes these different devices:

I guess battery life isn't as important. Just something that gives off a good vap and doesn't make me feel the need for a real cig.

As far as modding what would be a good starter? I am sure I will get into the more serious mods down the road. I am still just a bit lost on it all ha ha

Hehe, my Mini SD holds tanks 3 times it's size.
But yes.
If you don't care about the size, a mod would be good.

There are tons of the stick type batteries that are better than what you have now, Volt comes to mind off the top of my head. Nothing wrong with the Ego's, one even operates as a passthrough, it works while plugged in to an outlet while charging to let you keep vaping. As you are at a desk all day, this might be something to consider? But as stated above, they are disposable and I don't really care for that myself.
Really, you need to establish a budget for what you want to spend right now on this, I always suggest having at least two batteries, one to use, one charging, so an idea of what you are willing to spend will help us narrow down some choices better for you.

Well, battery life is VERY important.
Because if you have to recharge it every 4 hours and it takes 3 hours to charge............

If I don't mind having to swap batteries.....would prefer not to but would be ok with it. 4 hours would be so much better then what I am even getting now out of this 7's

Man if you got the money I say jump right into a mod I started with an ego style and no I do nothing but dream of the money I need to get the pv I want. Oh it also helps to Google and see if there are any vape shops in your town. When you go to one they more than Lilly will have all the flavors ready to sample and even can try out different mods.

Oh
I was Talking about no7's but I guess they are declining in quality now.
There are many options for you to choose from. Ranging from $50-$400.
An ego kit would be your best option to start with, then you can move on to variable voltage etc.

That leaves a lot of room then! $80 gets you into a Gripper VV, Variable Volt Gripper Kit A lot of beginners seem to like it.
There are Lava Tube clones, Vari-Tube 18650 APV Just know with this, you get what you pay for! I have one like it, it works, but it's not what I consider quality by any means!
These are so-so on the reviews, some don't like the battery life, but otherwise seem to work, The L-Rider Robust Variable Voltage PV
Really, lots of options! This is a GREAT company to work with with several options to look over, AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits | The Yeti, Joye eGo, eGo Dual Coil Cartomizer, Silver Bullet, BB, Omega, Alpha have a look around and see if anything seems like it might interest you and we can go from there.

Those 1st couple are crazy, might need to take some time to step up to those ones. What about AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo Dual Coil Cartomizer Starter Kit at least to start?

Sorry for the noobness...
