Hello all,

I am a new member trying to decide on my fist e-cig. I was very interested in the Blu product as it looks like a cigarette and as a smoker I think that's what is important. I have read reviews and most are negative but I am looking for more feedback. I have never vaped before so I was looking for what to expect, and what I SHOULD be looking for in an e-cig.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I would say if you are a newb you could go ahead and give Blu a shot. They are not all that great in terms of quality though. If I were you, I'd pick up a few Blu disposables and just see if vaping is something you might want to explore.

If the cigarette lookalike factor is really important to you we can point you to several companies that offer the same as Blu for much cheaper and with better quality.

Blu more or less has a bad reputation here because initially they sold their devices at really unreasonable prices. They are also linked with Lorrilard and big tobacco. The other thing is that they make their cartomizers in a way that leaves you unaware of the idea that you can refill your own cartomizers with some eliquid and avoid paying the exhorbinant price for their refills.

Veteran vapers almost all of us. Probably 98%, refill our own stuff. This is way cheaper than paying Blu's $15 for 5 cartomizers.

In short, Blu is an ok starting point and this is why I said to get the disposables. It will give you an idea of how it all works. If you plan to stick with it long term though, you'll want to buy from either Smokeless Image (they sell the Volt) or Vapor for Life which sells cigarette lookalikes. Both of these vendors also sell juice in bottles which will allow you to get the cost savings.

Much luck.

I would definitely advise not getting the Blu system. I started with one myself, and quit vaping shortly after. They have a couple flavors that aren't horrible, but the batteries don't last long at all, and they don't really produce much vapor. To me I didn't get enough nicotine either, they just made me go smoke a real cigarette.

I'd suggest looking at something like an eGo Twist. It's not much more than a Blu if you buy the starter kit, you can use a wide variety of tanks (atomizers, cartomizers, and clearomizers), the batteries will last longer, and you'll have a much wider variety of flavors.

Also with the twist you can adjust the voltage. What this does is makes the juice burn cooler, or hotter, this way you can make some adjustments to the flavor and overall feel of the vape. Variable voltage is really almost a must have, because different juice vendors make their juices differently, and they all seem to burn a little different.

If you don't mind spending a little bit more, I'd suggest either an eVic, or a Lavatube. They're a bit larger, but have a lot of really nice features, and a lot longer lasting battery. Its really nice to be able to fill up a 3ml tank, and vape all day without any hassle :)

The only downside really, is that depending on where you live, you will probably have to buy your juice online, which really isnt much of a hassle. You could always pick up a disposable Blu e-cig and give it a try, but I must warn you, the disposable version lasts 100 times longer than the rechargeable ones. My rechargeable ones lasted from 2 to 4 hours, and that wasn't even with constant vaping!

If you go the juice route, check out Kick Bass Vapor. They make an excellent e-juice!

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Disposable Blu e-cigs is what got me into this, so give those a try.

Though very soon you will be looking upgrading to something better. :D

Good luck!

Edit: If your serious about this skip Blu's all together and get an eRoll (great out and about cig-alike)

If you can find them give the NJOY Bold disposables a try. Very cig-like and good nicotine hit. Way too expensive of course for long term use but it'll give you a better idea of how effective an ecig can be than most of the other disposables. After than you can expand into the wide wide world of "real" ecigs with a bit more confidence.

Thanks guys on the quick responses! really appreciate it!

I know you guys are veterans, me as a noob, i'm still not sold on the idea of mixing my own solution.....i realize the benefits (cheaper, customizable, etc..) but i cannot see myself doing that (not yet anyway). Other problem I face is that i'm in Canada and getting nic cartridges and juices is tough. I know there's a list floating around here somewhere with the providers in Canada. If someone can forward that to me, that would be great!

Thanks again guys.

i didnt realize you were in canada but theres no need to mix your own juices

most vendors sell bottles of ready to vape juice in any flavor you can dream up...all you would have to do is fill the cartomizer

i saw a bottle of kung pao chicken vape juice online not long ago...yes thats how ridiculous it is lol

You don't have to mix your own solution :)

The juice vendors mix it up, and sell it in a dropper bottle. All you have to do is fill up your tank and vape away :) Of course you can also mix those juices yourself too though. Say if you buy an apple flavored juice and a strawberry, you can fill your tankw ith half strawberry and half apple, and have a completely new flavor :)

or think about this...lets say you by from smokeless image and you decide you like one of their flavors...say cherry...well you could buy 5 cherry cartos and one bottle of the cherry juice and then simply top off those five cartos whenever needed

a 30ml bottle will go quite far this way and i havent checked but i'd bet at smokeless image its about $15

Definitely try a disposable first. DO NOT buy a $60 starter kit of those cheap gas station ecigs.

I started with Blu disposables, thought I'd save money buying the Blu starter kit, got annoyed with charging my batteries 4 times before the carto was empty, switched to a KGO 1100mAh with clearo and couldn't be happier. Well, until my Vamo and mechanical get here. :)
