I don't really know how that will affect the e-cig market. I think the tobacco companies want to corner the market so they will start lobbying the government for laws that favor them and crush the competition which could mean the only e-cigs left will be something like Blu which would cause me to make my own or switch to Snus.

The title of this thread is misleading. Newport did not buy them, Lorillard did, and Blu became a subsidiary of Lorillard.

Big tobacco is quickly infecting the ecigarette market:

- Altria (owns Philip Morris which owns Marlboro and other big brands): Markten
- R.J. Reynolds (owns Camel and other big brands): Vuse and RJ Reynolds Vapor Company
- Lorillard (owns Newport and some others): Blu

This is old news (about 2 - 3 months old). And there apprears to be nothing good from this change. BT is already backing legislation to limit how we vape to models/types (in design) to the ones they provide. So if you like sealed carts only on tiny stick batteries, tobacco flavor only and no online sales, you will be fine.

i think it a bad idea because i use a provari but when people ask me what i thought of getting a blu as a starter kit to lessin there smoking habit i always replied it not a bad brand to start off with but would usually recommend a ego but the blu was easy for them to get because it was at so many gas stations.i was wondering what if any good could come from this because i couldnt think of one

I have found locally that for everyone person who started with a model like the Blu and then realized how poor they were, and did more research and bought a better model, there are easily 50 who decided that vaping was a scam and went back to smoking. I wouldn't have a problem with those models, if those companies also provided an upgrade to a better model in the realm of a Kgo, etc.

There are a couple of threads about RJR introducing their e-cig that kind of go into the issues you're asking about here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-electronic-cigarette-but-will-any-good.html and here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-discussion/427400-fox-friends-interview.html

In a nut shell, the big concern I and a couple of others have expressed is that with BT getting into the market, they'll make sure that they are the only legal suppliers of nic juice. We can all build our own mods if we need to, but if the only way to buy nicotine is in their pre-filled carts we're screwed.

thanks for the link never even heard of the vuse ecigs its gonna make me rethink what i tell first time vapers especially if more ecig vendors sell there brand to big tobacco companies "i think its great that your trying to quit smoking but you still might be supporting there brand if you buy this ecig" lol

now I can't say this for other companies but at least with LL (newport) they tend to be pretty good about why ruin a good thing lmfao look how long it took them to come out with a non-menthol newport :D
so I don't see them really doing much in the way of changing Blu in fact I've been in the tobacco resell biz for a while and know my LL rep quite well (12+ yrs) and was joking with her because I am a clove smoker and little to no one offers e-clove to try to suggest to Blu to come out with clove refill carts ;) and per our convo (granted she's just a reseller rep but still) I get the impression as long as it ain't broke don't fix it...Blu continues to grow why reinvent the wheel...chances are more likely they gonna just push more money into advertising and flavors

all though seeing as more and more big tob gets involved I am leery of the banning of flavored ecigs.....but hey that's why we diy flavor ;)
