I'm currently using an Ego-T battery with a Kanger Protank 3 mini at 1.8Ω and I hqve decided I love vaping, but am wondering what the "next step" should be? I'd like to try something that is capable of more vapor and longer battery life- I'm vaping 6-12 mg, and going through a full battery charge (and then some) in a day. Not really wanting to spend a whole lot, and not wanting to get into rebuilding or unregulated mods- not yet anyway! I'm really looking for something I can charge, squirt some liquid in, and vape away- of course changing coils as needed and cleaning. A larger tank capacity would be a plus, it seems like I'm constantly refilling my current one. I'm not into coffee or tobacco flavors, never liked the taste of either before so why bother trying now lol, I use mostly fruity or sweet flavors. I think I enjoy vaping more for the satisfaction of inhaling/exhaling smoke (vapor) and the flavors than the actual nicotine- although it's nice to get a little. I don't find myself craving nicotine, I've gone all day without taking more than a few hits, and never really needed to.

I agree that a logical step up would be a Subtank Mini and an iStick 30. I have not heard of any problems with the 30 watt version but there have been some reports of the 50 watt iStick auto-firing and burning up or exploding. I have two 30 watt versions that have been in use for almost two months and have not had a problem. I also have had a 50 watt for a couple of weeks that I'm keep a close eye on for any erratic behavior but so far it's been perfect.

I honestly think you will be fine with the 30 watt iStick with a Subtank. The Subtank comes with coils and also an RBA section that can be rebuilt if/when you feel you are ready. Maybe never, but you have the option.

Just be aware that these tanks are made with an airy draw and are best suited for direct lung hits rather than mouth to lung, so if you are an ex-smoker you may have to adapt your draw but IMO it's worth it.

I just stepped up recently to an istick 20W and a nautilus mini (around $40-45 for both I believe) and it's been awesome so far. From what I've read the istick 50W has some serious issues, but my 20 has been putting out some great flavor and vapor. I'm not into huge clouds and I get great results around 10-15 watts so I don't need more - yet :p

an istick 30w as others suggested would be a good upgrade. I would suggest a aspire nautilus full size as well for ypur tank. Its 5 ml tank and will last you a lot longer between refills over the other tanks mentioned. Sub tanks minis will eat juice and have you refilling alot like you do now.

Down the road the istick will allow you to upgrade to an rda or sub ohm tank if you want.

I suggest the istick 30 watt as well (very, very few problems with the 30, unlike the 20s and 50s). For tanks, many are now using the Eleaf GSAirM, also made by the same company as the istick. The GSAirs are half the price of the Nautilus mini, give better flavor in the opinion of most, and the coils last much longer if you tend to like sweet flavors like I do. I'm gradually replacing all my Nautilus tanks with GSAirs, but the Nautilus is still a very popular tank that many people love. Good luck, in the end, the best set up is the one that WORKS for YOU!

Here are some links to help you research --

Maybe just quit it all and be free??
Because I was an occasional smoker and I would much rather vape all day long than smoke a few cigarettes- they taste disgusting and smell worse! I could probably say I was mildly addicted to smoking, but much less so to vaping. Haven't wanted to smoke at all since I started vaping, and the smell is enough to make me gag! I rolled up my windows at a stoplight yesterday because somebody was smoking in the car next to me- I can smell if someone is smoking in front of me while driving down the highway- at one point that was me, and I don't want to ever smell that again! Smoking just a couple cigarettes would make my lungs feel horrible, vaping doesn't do that at all- I am vaping way more than I ever smoked and I feel perfectly fine.

I've had my IStick 30 watt since the day it came out and have had no issues to date. If I could go back in time I would have picked up something in the 50 watt range with a battery I could switch out. Yes, with numerous reasons the 50 watt IStick has had many issues and would not recommended it at all.

The Subtank mini seems to be a great introduction to many different versions of vaping. I have to agree on the subtank. As far as the mod, try to get something that has a battery you can change out. For that reason I believe it's better built, has better quality control etc. etc.

I'm kind of leaning toward the istick 30w and the subtank mini at this point, just knowing I can get them locally as well as replacement coils when needed. I had an idea what I wanted to do but had no clue where to start! I have no clue what is compatible with what and what will happen if they aren't compatible- I got my Mini protank 3 on a recommendation at the local shop after my ce4 clearomizer died with only about 3 days' use. I was really worrying I was going to blow the battery up or something, but of course it works fine. After seeing the thread on the 50w istick exploding/catching fire, I'm definitely NOT buying a 50w, and pretty hesitant with the 30w. I definitely don't want something like that happening to me, my story goes like this: I'm 22 and live with my parents- as far as I know, they never knew I smoked (both smokers for years, mom quit, dad quit and started back up) although I don't know how, noticing the horrid smell that follows smokers! They don't know I started vaping, although I'm less secretive about it than smoking, if they find out in time, so be it. If I had a mysterious fire start in the drawer of my nightstand (where my vape supplies currently live) it would be extremely hard to explain and embarrassing! I'm trying to get my Dad into vaping and off the cancer sticks, but he is taking to it like a cat to water- vaping inside and then going out for hus usual 20 or so stinkies a day. Yuck!

My first step up was an mvp2 when they first came out. Nothing fancy and it just worked every time I used it. Now they have 20 and 30 watt models and they are probably the same solid no frills performers. As far as tanks, the subtanks are pretty airy and not at all like the protank you are using now. That's not a pro or con, just different. The nautilus mini and full size have a draw close to what you are used to and the replacement coils are pretty cheap too.

my 2 cents (without first reading everyone's responses)(sorry)-

eleaf istick 50's are really affordable and would be all you needed for a long time. They have silicon cases, and fit in the hand well.

There are a billion great tanks out now that have quality replaceable coils and do not need to be manually rebuilt. Everyone goes nuts for the Kanger Subtank, which also has a mini version.

I'm going to recommend removable battery. That to me was the next step after feeling I needed to have an instant power swap at any time. I even got a battery container that hangs on my key chain. That said subtank mini is a good choice. I went basic with a small Kanger Kbox for my phase II device. For now it works perfectly fine.

I think that's a fine recommendation - and the trouble seems to only be the 50w iStick. the 20's and 30's never got those failure complaints.

How about a little 30w box mod and a subtank mini? I'd suggest an istick but it seems there's several folks having issues with them at the moment.

I think that the iStick 30 makes a good step up from what you have been using while retaining a more familiar size and simplicity. It gives you enough power should you decide to foray into a sub ohm tank such as the Kanger Mini Subtank, but is very suitable for a mouth-lung vaping tank such as the Aspire Nautilus Mini or full size (Either will go well on the iStick 30). The 2200 mah battery will give you noticeably better run time than what you've been using. IMHO this is a reasonable and reasonably priced next step. You may find all you need right there...but I'd bet that at the least it would meet your needs for at least a time.

I have larger, more powerful mods than the iStick 30, but frequently use one due to it's convenient size and decent power and run time. Even should you decide to move past that, it will still be a practical device that retains usability.
