NHS Fife refuses to enforce smoking ban near Scottish hospital's maternity ward, resulting in newborns breathing smoke.

May article stating NHS Fife had banned e-cigarette use in all hospitals and clinics claiming products pose a fire hazard, claiming smokefree e-cigarette vapor could set off smoke alarms, and claiming no evidence of safety or effectiveness for helping smokers quit.

The same folks who just banned use of e-cigarettes in all hospitals and health clinics in Scotland.

Senior officials at NHS Fife say they have a strict no-smoking policy at the site but admit it is “impossible” to enforce.

And what the hospital administrator said

Jim Leiper, director of estates and facilities, admitted it was “impossible” to make people obey the hospital’s ban on smoking.

“No one likes it and people are challenged. Some of them recognise what you are saying and extinguish their cigarette, but others just completely ignore you.

“We can ask but it’s impossible to enforce it.”

Its amazing that incompetent idiots who cannot even enforce a hospital smoking ban quickly banned e-cigarette use (citing ridiculous reasons for doing so) without even thinking about enforcement issues.

Trying to make sense out of what an idiot says or does ...
Will drive ya NUTS !!

I firmly believe that most e-cig bans are enacted by those who
know the truth. They just ban e-cigs because its easier than
dealing with confrontations with those who don't want to see smoke.

Much easier to ban than educate.

Heck ... any heat the idiot takes for banning e-cigs won't last long.
