So I just got my first spool of 30g ni200 wire and I can't make a warm vape on my ipv4 to save my life.

Tried 20 wraps dual (0.11ohm) at 300c and never got a warm hit.

Same result when I tried 10 wraps dual (0.60 ohm) at 300c.

The voltage adjusts and it would seem that it's trying to hit temp it just can't for whatever reason.

Please help me figure out how to build nickle in a way that actually provides a warm vape.

get to 5 posts and you can start posting in the other threads. There is a ton of information regarding nickel builds in the "coil builds" section among others, specifically this thread, or you can click the link in my signature for some basic information (gathered from all the other threads) and a basic build that can get you started. There is a learning curve, so be prepared.

Best advice I can give users new to nickel is; start out simple, learn the ropes, then start exploring other options.

Don't get me wrong, I love my DNA 40 devices, but I haven't been able to get a very warm vape myself. I love the vape it gives, nice clean consistent from beginning to end but I don't think you will be able to get a drip type of warm dense vape with nickel.

Somebody who has, I'd like to know as well!!
The only warm vape I have got from my TC'd devices is when the ohm's get wonky, that is usually how I know something is wrong....lol. I guess you can bump the temp up to 600F, but you might as well use kanthal at that point.

I enjoy a nice warm dense flavorful vape from time to time. Not for lack of trying as I chucked all kinds of builds and tried to keep up with what everyone was doing with their builds with nickel.

Randy, have you had any luck with nickel/kanthal hybrid coils being any warmer??

Curious minds and all!!

Even at 572f (max) the heat just isn't there, maybe consistency is worth getting used to, still a bit unsure but thanks for the comments
Judging by your first attempt at Ni coils, I am assuming you are accustomed to RDA's running pretty low ohm's, plus you actually got a 20 wrap 30g dual nickel to read about right out of the gate...lol.

Like I said, I don't go after warmth so I am not the one to advise the best way to get it, but there are others that do and I'm sure they will have some tips for you.

The whole point of TC is to keep the temp within reason though, so it may be you that needs to adjust to the vape instead of the other way around. The general consensus I have seen is that it is different, but typically enjoyable. If you are a hard core cloud machine, you may be disappointed.

Your coil is way to big! It doesn't get hot enough (your temp setting is an upper limit which is never reached).

Also, your resistance seems odd: a single Ni200 coil with an inner diameter of 3mm and 20 wraps should be somewhere at 0.4 Ohm. A dual coil with 2x10 wraps should land at around 0.1...

You may want to try something simple:
- single coil, 9-10 wraps -> should be like 0.2 Ohm (assuming 3mm id)
- leave some space between wraps, they should not touch

Also, 300C may be too hot, wouldn't go above 250C (480F).

Good luck!

tried this and go 0.177 definitely warmer (though not a coil i would normally be proud of)

guess i still have to experiment a bit, and it doesn't help that it gets cooler the dryer the coil, but still pretty good
