Nic Juice Issues and Concerns

Hello,

I wanted to post this in the Canada sub forum but am not allowed because this is my first post, but would really appreciate some help/advice etc.

First off, I'm Canadian, and I started vaping on February 22nd of this year, the same day I quit smoking.

I started out vaping juice that I bought online from a local Canadian vendor. I remember the first few days vaping 18mg juice just about knocked me on the floor. After a few days I was fine, which after doing some reading at the time I realized was normal. Well after trying about a few dozen juices, none of which I really liked, I figured I would try DIY.

So, I bought some flavorless nic (always mixed my juice @ 18mg), concentrated flavorings, pg/vg, yada yada yada. I read a lot about it as to make sure I would be doing it properly and not kill myself or anything. I have done this for the past 7 months or so. After trying dozens and dozens of flavorings, I had the same problem as before, none of them really turned me on. There were a few that were OK, but I just couldn't taste any of them really well. I could smell them and boy, if they tasted like they smelled, I would have been oh so happy. Anyways, I figured I would try to order some juice from a vendor here in Canada to see if they were any good because 7 months of DIY just hasn't really worked out that well.

I got the juices today, all of which are 18mg. Took a few hits about 30 minutes ago, and 1. I can really taste the juice I tried (but sadly don't like it lol, go figure) and 2. I got an instant head rush, and in fact my head still feels a bit fuzzy.

I have ordered flavorless nic, usually 36mg or 50mg from 3 different vendors over the past 7 months, and never, ever, had a head rush. In fact, today is the first time it has happened since the first few days when I started to vape. I always made my juice at 18mg. I always mixed the right %'s, using ejuice me up.

So, is there such a thing as bad nic juice? Is what I have been using all this time even nic juice at all? Would it affect the flavor of my juice somehow? Is some nic juice better than others?

I feel the same way right now, as I did the first hour I vaped 18mg juice for the 1st time. Something isn't right. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? Advice?

I would really appreciate any insight anyone might have.

Yes there is such a thing as incorrectly mixed eliquid, sometimes caused by incorrectly labeled strength of the nicotine used to make it.

You should contact your vendor and see what they think the problem is.

Also - just in case this is a factor - the nicotine throat hit and harshness of a high PG juice will be stronger than the same amount of nicotine in a high VG juice.

Thanks for the welcome and no I have not contacted any vendors as of yet.

I think I should explain this a bit better.

The pre-mixed/pre-made juice I ordered, and the fact it gave me a head rush doesn't concern me. The reason why I am concerned is because for 7 months, I now believe the flavorless nic I was ordering wasn't only flavorless, it was also nicless.

It is the only thing that makes sense. Either it is bogus nic juice, or not even close to the mg they said it was. That is what my questions were pertaining to. I was wondering if this is a common thing, or if ppl had run into vendors selling flavorless nic juice that wasn't actually nic juice. Would it have an affect on the taste of my eliquid somehow?

I at times also tried mixing my own juice at 24mg, because it seemed as though I was getting zero throat hit even though I usually mix at 75/25 pg-vg. Still, even at 24mg, no head rush, no throat hit.

Like I said in my 1st post, even though I have been vaping for 9 months, today feels like the first day I started as far as the feeling I get from the nic. It is impossible that I would be feeling this way if I had been vaping real nic for the past 7 months at 18mg.

I was just curious if anyone else had ever had this happen to them, or heard about vendors selling bogus nic juice.

Are you absolutely sure of your recipes for mixing? If you had the same issue with your base nicotine from 3 vendors it's less likely to be a problem with the base nicotine. But you do need to contact the vendors.

There is a lot of information in DIY E-Liquid and some really important threads to read to DIY successfully.

Good luck and welcome to ECF.

I should have clarified this as well.

The first two vendors I ordered my flavorless nic from I am not questioning. It is the 3rd vendor, the vendor I have been ordering from for the past 5 months give or take.

As far as my recipes are concerned, I am pretty sure they are spot on. I spent a good amount of time reading articles from the DIY E-Liquid forum. I always used eJuice Me Up and dbl checked everything every time.

I honestly have no idea at the moment what else it could be. I was just shocked today when I got my pre-mixed juice and tried it, and got a head rush from it. It's the first time I have ordered pre-mixed juice in about 7 months.

There is a non-ECF vendor that has had problems with nicotine concentrations. There are a couple of long threads in the DIY subforum, as well as discussions and a link to a kit that you can purchase to test the nicotine content of your unflavored liquids.

i also agree, if you've been doing well low low or no-nic, you can choose to remain there or go up- once you know what the nic levels are.

I agree with Dormouse....contact the vendor....perhaps they accidentally mixed it too strong, or the nic they purchased may have been mislabeled and is really stronger than thought.
I would stay away from this juice until I had an answer from the vendor, especially if your heart starts to race or you fill uneasy on your stomach...

Let us know...
