Long time lurker just joined finnaly bought my first e-cig and have been smoke free since day one. One thing i was currious about was is it possible to accidentally OD on the nicotine?
From the propoganda machine i have read that i have but the nay sayers also say we don't get the nicotine levels described on the bottles, but that is a topic for another thread.
Do i have anything to worry about? My first liquids were medium strenght so i tried out the RY4 "super high" from janty. Is there anything i should watch out for?

no not really unless you are buying 46 mg juice or above and vaping it with out cutting. the highest anybody uses that i know of is 36 mg or xtra xtra high 3.4% by volume juice. i personally use 24 mg and was a roll your own 2 pack a day smoker. so it works for me really you just gotta find what works. most site will tell you when purchasing 46 or 50 or 60 mg liquid that it is intended for cutting down to a weaker strength.

you won't be able to buy pre-made juice that is over 36% and if you attempt to do your own DIY juice, by all means do not start with juice higher than that. you will start to feel gross if you vape to much and will learn quickly to ease off or switch to a lower nic level. when i over do it, I feel like i have "cotton head" the next day.

It depends how much nicotine you are used to and how much you are vaping vs how much you smoked. Even if you smoked full strength cigs, and you get an appropriate nic level like 24mg, if you vape it constantly you could get too much nicotine. if you vape as much as you smoked or a bit more you should be fine.

But then there are other factors like how huge are the hits your PV is making - how much juice is it burning on each drag etc

Common symptoms are any of headache, dizziness or weird feeling, rapid heartbeat

I did it to myself once with a peach juice I just couldn't put down

It would be highly unlikely that you've OD to a dangerous extent while vaping, although drinking the juice could prove fatal.
You didn't indicate an OD had occurred, but just for the record, the symptoms are:
Overdose symptoms may include nausea; vomiting; ........; stomach pain; cold sweat; headache; dizziness; problems with hearing or vision; confusion; uneven heartbeats; chest pain; seizures; and death.
Nicotine Information from Drugs.com

It seems to be possible to get a mild OD when vaping too potent a juice, as witnessed by a number of members who have posted their experience on ECF. Those symptoms would be a subset of the quoted material. And, every one of those symptoms can be caused by other things too. The solution is easy though ... if you start getting symptoms, back off and go to a lower nicotine level. A more common situation is for the vaper to underestimate their needed nic level and then having to raise it.

It seems to me that the amount of nicotine you absorb depends on a number of factors other than the concentration in your juice. I routinely use 30-36mg juice. But, as a smoker my favorite brand wasn't particularly 'strong'. Other people who smoked more, and stronger, cigarettes have reported OD symptoms with juice containing half as much nicotine as my 36mg juice. The WAY you vape and the type of PV you use could both be factors.

Thnx guys my stuff is only 24mg so i think i will be fine. The lighter stuff tasted okay but i found myself constantly vaping, with this it is more of a use till im good thing, more like regular smoking.

sounds good!
as you progress you will find your own rythym
your body will dictate this to you!

i will add also,
i found having a bit of variety has helped me out remarkably,
not flavors as much but "nic" percentages!
i have a 0-36mg%range.....for all those special moments lol

keep in mind if you had any "other" adult fun activitys too!
ie;drinkin,party'in etc....smoking may have increased,
if you continue these, so may the vaping?
good luck......
welcome to ECF

Hmm...

How long does nicotine stay in the body?

About 90% is metabolized out of your body rather quickly. The rest stays in your bloodstream for around 6-8 hours. The actual amount that stays there is, of course, dependent on how much you take in every day. Nicotine is absorbed much slower when vaping than it was when smoking.
