Hi,

I got the ok to vape at work and so I am attempting to replace smoking with vaping.
I just really started this today.

I'm just worried that I may be vaping too much and i could get sick from it.

Has anyone ever vaped themselves sick ?
How much is too much ?

( I am using 18 mg e-liquid and switching on and off between 2 flavors so I am not sure how much I have used )

When I first started, I definitely felt like I was OD'ing on the nic--felt light-headed and a little dizzy, got a little "foggy" brained for a few hours. I was using 16 mg carto's that came with my KR808D.

I've been vaping for almost 3 weeks now and haven't felt those symptoms recently. Here's my theory on what was up:
- Novelty: vaping a lot at first, not just when I felt a nico or analog craving. As soon as I started getting used to it, I was actually vaping less each time (maybe 5 drags) and went longer between vaping sessions.
- Night-time vaping: I carry the 16 mg cartos with me to work, but when I get home, I'm vaping some new flavors I bought that have less mg's: some 8's, a 6 mg and a 0 mg. These lighter doses allow me to have longer vaping sessions without any of those symptoms at all.

I know it's hard, but try not to go crazy with your new "toy" as I did. I don't know how much you smoked before, but 16mg is right in the middle band of strengths so it seemed to be the right choice for me to start with (was an 8 analogs/day M'boro Light smoker). As JJ2 said, do kind of "monitor" yourself as your vaping and after to see if it's having any unwanted side effects. Also, poke around the forum as he mentioned and see what other symptoms people have had and see if they match what you might be feeling and then take the remedial action they did.

And remember: whatever you end up with for a vaping pattern, it's always going to be better than smoking!!

Thank You.

I do think I overdid it a bit yesterday. ( It was just so much fun )

I smoked 2 packs of Newports a day since college. ( I am 34 now ).
I quit last year with the patch but that only lasted about 5 months. Since then i have had a love/hate relationship with smoking. Short quits here and there...

i was back up to 1.5 packs a day when I got my e-cig.

I will look for those threads u guys are talking about.

This forum is huge. May take a bit of time :)

Again, TY for the reply's.

Don't worry about an OD...

Don't know about you, but there were nights drinking I'd smoke a few packs that evening. I chewed for a bit, and swallowed a fair amount of juice... I've also chain vaped 36 mg. I'm not dead..

I find that you will get symptoms like hiccups and feeling like crap/sick long before you OD to the point of where its a danger to your life. When was the last time you heard of someone OD'n on nicotine??

I vape at about the same rate I smoked... I smoked 100's, it generally took me 7 minutes to smoke an entire cig- I vape about the same length of time and then I am done... (the important thing to remember is if you don't have the correct strength for your habit this may vary for you) I got a few different strengths to start with because we plan to decrease our nicotine intake along with leaving tobacco alone...
You will know when you find a good strength for you- sounds like you could go with 18-24 mg and vape at the rate you smoked...
I smoked about 2 cigs an hour, depending on what my activity was... working would be less of course, drinking was more usually, watching TV or whatever.. the said rate was my norm...
You won't kill yourself if you do find that you vape a bit more than you smoked... it is very different as far as absorbtion and satisfaction goes- That is another reason to find a good strength that suits you... If you are also using this as a means to decrease your addiction to nicotine, make sure you have various strengths of nicotine- when you feel the need to "smoke" use your higher strength, if you later just feel the need to "vape" use a lower strength or 0 mg strength... and as time passes you should be able to mix a higher strength with lower to get a strength in between until you can decrease to just the lower at "smoke" cravings down to 0 mg ... you will still have the mechanics going on but the nic fix won't be as prevalent... HTH- Good Luck!

Try to keep a journal. What liquid you are using and how much per day. I say this because Iwish I had in the beginning. Once you start ordering, trying different strengths, flavors, mixes... it all becomes a blur and if something doesn't work for you, you have to start over to figure out what causes what.
I smoked 2+ packs of full flavor menthol for 35 years, and I switched day 1 on NJOY regulars (16 or 18mg). I experimented after I started ordering elsewhere but found that I had to cut the Nic back from that. I am at about 6mg now, because I had less of a tolerance for it after a time. Do what works for you.

I have a tendency to vape constantly. At first I used 36 mg. of Marlboro. I found that occasionally I would feel a little nauseated or start getting a slight headache and I knew I had vaped too much. I would cut back or wait a while before vaping. Now I have been vaping 6 months and I still use 36mg and do no get any symptoms at all. I think your system has to get use to vaping. I have no desire to cut back on my strength of nicotine. It satisfies me and keeps me off of analogs.

TY everyone for all the reply's
This really is a very helpful place !

Turns out I was a bit too excited with my new "toy" yesterday and just overdid it a bit.
i have ordered some lower mg e-liquids ( and a few no-nic ones as well )and I am getting more used to the vaping in general.

it really is a -figure it out as i go- thing for me.
It's a rather big change and I guess i should have factored in some adjustment time

I really like the idea of twice an hour for a few minutes.
I was just vaping here and there all day.

Today was different. I kept it to once or twice an hour and feel great today :):)

I guess it's a good thing that i was never allowed to smoke anologs inside. I prob would have chained smoked as well. ( Well, I guess i did at times but that is over )

Thanks everyone for all ur help

I would say my wife would know before I did if I wasn't getting enough nic I would get aggitated and short tempered. I can tell when I get too much, I would get an upset stomach(from the nic or PG not sure). It is about finding the right middle ground. I am using a 510 with carts and using a blend 8 drops 18 mg mandarin + 2-3 drops 11 mg vanilla and using 1.5 carts a day. That was after a week and a half of using 25 mg tobacco flavor. I am hoping to step that down when I feel like I can, 2 weeks 4 weeks, 6 months whenever......
