About to place my first order, an EVOD starter kit. I've been vaping mistics for almost two weeks now, and been off the stinkies since. The mistics cartos are 18mg, so I am wondering if that is the strength of juice I should order. I smoked for 30 years, and was at a little over a pack a day (Full Flavor Reds) before I switched to the mistics last tuesday. The mistic menthols seem the right strength and throat hit to me so far. I want to keep the cravings satisifed, without getting sick to my stomach, etc. Is 18 the right strength to go with, or should I get 12mg?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello, Bover907 and welcome to ECF! It's awesome that you're making the switch after smoking cowboy killers for so long. I think you're on the right track with the nicotine level to start off with. Starting your vaping experience while quitting cigarettes is when you want a high nicotine level to really mellow out any withdrawal symptoms you may have the first few weeks. Over time when you begin to make vaping more of a hobby, you may end up wanting a lower nicotine level so you can vape more before you're satisfied.

The EVOD starter kit is a great starter kit due to the size and functionality of the device. It's small so you don't feel like you're too out of place while vaping and comparing it to your smoking, but it still hits like a champ. If you haven't chosen it already, I'd recommend the "double" starter pack of the EVODs. You get 2 650mah batteries, 2 evod tanks, 5 replacement heads and the charger to go with it. This will allow you to vape all day and be able to switch off your batteries so you're never in an uncomfortable situation where you're out of battery charge and craving nicotine. Every one knows the struggle of having a gas station right up the road and being left without a charge!

One thing you must know prior to buying your EVOD kit, is that the tank that comes included will be made from polycarbonate plastic. This means that certain acidic e-juices could potentially crack and melt your tank down. Most vendors will warn you prior to your purchase whether or not the juice will have any harmful effects on your tank or not. No worries though, as those EVOD tanks are about $6 each so replacing them if anything would be to go wrong, isn't too bad.

Over time you can look into a more "advanced" setup that would include Pyrex glass tank that won't melt/crack such as a Kanger Protank 2 Mini, Kanger Aerotank or an Aspire Nautilus. Those 3 tanks are by far the most functional and hassle free clearotanks on the market right now. I'd stray away from the Protank 2 (the mini doesn't come with the issues this one does) due to it's leaking and flooding issues. However, that's a bit off topic from this thread so I'll let you figure all of that out on your own as you go along. You can pick up a typical Ego style battery for $20, a Protank 2 Mini for $13 and a charger for about $6 from Discountvapers.com if you choose to change your mind. You'll still get a smaller device that isn't too hefty and the replacement heads you'd use on an evod as well as your Kanger tanks would be the same so you'd be able to stock up without worries.

I won't keep talking your ear off, but every beginning vaper should be aware of such things in my opinion. Good luck! ECF is a very welcoming community with massive amounts of information provided to you. :toast:

Oh no, Arch. You're not talking my ear off at all!!! The more information, the better! One thing I hate with anything new is the trial and error process! I REALLY CAN'T STAND the process of spending money, only to find out on line that there is a much better, cheaper option out there. That's what happened when I delved into wine making. I spent a small forutune in that process, so if I can avoid that process with vaping, all the better.

The wife and I quit smoking on the 25th of Feb as a condition of buying a brand new car, and hit the e-cigs as a crutch, but I fear I found something that'll defeat the purpose of saving money from the cigs, lmao! But it seems to me from my research the past week that the more you know, the cheaper vaping is, and it's like pennies on the dollar compare to cancer sticks! That's right up my alley, since my wife and I are both extreme nicotine addicts.

Thanks very much for the info!
