I'm aware...I meant a good deal for buying wire in a b&m in Los Angeles, which it definitely is. Normally a thirty foot spool is like $22-25 in a b&m it's crazy
Let me know how it goes man. I wanna get 26g. Yeah that's decent price and you helped some local honest man put food on his table. I understand b and m markup cuz they gotta order online and then sell it for a profit

Personally cant taste the difference. My goto mods are regulated devices and so they all have minimum resistances. I'm always going for maximum surface area when making my coils and because of that i would use kanthal the majority of the time. If i were to use nichrome, the resistance would be below the minimum allowed resistance and adding another wrap would not be possible because of space constraint.

The specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity of both ni80 and kanthal are practically identical so when using a regulated device, there should be no difference in ramp up time for identical coils fired at identical wattage. This of course is all theoretically speaking and i have not tested this for myself. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Ok, so I put the figures into steam engine and was happy to find that choosing to go with 26 awg was the right decision. My normal kanthal build is a dual coil 7 wrap around a 3 mm screwdriver with 24 awg. Comes out to about .35 ohms. To my surprise with the 26 awg nichrome, building a dual coil with 3 mm id it is also a 7 wrap. So here's my report on performance: don't go into nichrome expecting like some earth shattering difference, like I was so worried it was going to heat up soooo fast that I started firing my build at like 22 watts, when with kanthal I'm usually vaping a .35 ohm build at around 46 watts give or take a watt depending on juice. So in the end I finally realized it's not THAT different from kanthal and bumped it up to 46 watts. The flavor is moderately better because of the slightly better ramp up time, especially at lower resistances. So the main advice I'd give is to manage your expectations, like I'd say if kanthal is 100% flavor, nichrome would be 105%, you know? I'm still enjoying it though, and it's really easy to build with because of how pliable it is...hope that helps anyone on the fence to make their decision. Good luck everyone and Vape safe = ]
Ps when working out the hotspots and compressing your coils be much gentler than you would with kanthal coils lol I had to learn that the hard way, by collapsing one of my coils in on itself lmao

Doesn't sound necessary to hassle myself ordering it then. I probably will in the future but next I want to order ti01 (so expensive) and I wanna try stainless steel

You can read my post, I believe it's a couple posts above this one and a couple after your post that I'm responding to. Basically nichrome is easy to build with, but less convenient in other ways i.e. can't compress coils as hard as you would kanthal, or they'll collapse in on themselves due to how much softer and more malleable nichrome is when compared to kanthal (especially since you'll probably have to utilize a higher gauge than you're accustomed to with kanthal to achieve your preferred resistance). In terms of flavor, even with the same number of wraps around the same id I'm getting about five percent better flavor (although one could argue that this could be due to

ya I didn't buy it until the opportunity presented itself ie a b&m I was at happened to have a 30 ft spool for $5 so I said wth and got it to try. I'll probably still build primarily with kanthal I don't know, have to do some more testing and comparing. Ya I wanna try titanium and to a lesser extent stainless 316 too. Lemme know how the are if you actually get some please.

Of course. I'm gonna wait til I get an x cube 2 to try stainless so it might not be til. Well I was gonna hold off til Christmas. I'll maybe buy some ti within the next month. I can't believe it's like 16 bucks for 30 feet tho
