Nickel wire on RBA?

So I was at work the other day and I got into a discussion with one of the older mechanics about my PV. Then we started talking about my Igo-s and he suggested I could use nickel wire instead of kanthal because of its heating capabilities. I was wondering if anyone has tried it themselves or if anybody knows of any health risks with using this wire? Thanks for your help
