Ok, I bought one nicostick made for me and then I made one myself also. Got the correct batteries in the mail today, I fully charged them, tried both nicosticks and no vapor from either. On mine, the battery is getting hot as:evil: and if you try it too many times it dang near burnt through the box. Once, I almost got a tiny vapor from the one I bought. The person I bought the one from said he tried it before he mailed it out and it worked fine. So far, we've tried two of the eight batteries I got. Any guesses or suggestions? We know the atty we're trying them with is good. Thanks

There should be three wires
wire 1 - goes from one side of the battery to one side of the switch
wire 2 - goes from the other side of the switch to the center atty connector
wire 3 - goes from the other side of the battery to the outer atty connector

If the battery gets really hot only when you push the switch then the short is in the atty connection. What kind of connector was used? Was it from an old battery or a rat shack connector?

your volt meter should have what looks like an upside down horseshoe symbol, this is your continuity setting. Touch both probes together and you should hear an audible beep, or the needle on your meter should peg out (this shows a continuous circuit). Place one probe at the positive battery connection and the other at the first solder connection, you should hear a beep, move on placing the probe on one side of the switch and the other probe on the other side of the switch, press the switch, you should hear a beep, now place the probe on the outgoing side of the switch and the center pin of your atty, beep. Do the same thing on the negative side of the box, checking each solder connection. Now place one probe on the outer ring of the atty and the other probe on the center pin, if you get a beep, you've got a short at your atty(pos. and neg. are touching), hope this helps.

Ok, yes it did beep between the pos and neg of the connector and yes it does a meltdown even when the atty isn't in. So, now I know the problem, now what? do I take the connector out, break the soldering connections (how?) and try putting them back or what happens? Thanks to everyone for all the help!!!! I was so excited to try out my first mod and this is just so depressing!

undo the solder holding the atty connector in by holding the solder gun on the joints until they melt, pull out the connector and replace with a new one, sounds like the lil silicon gasket is to worn to separate the pos/neg. That my friend is modding right dar, hopefully it's a 901 and you can replace with the power jack from radshack (easier to solder on than factory atty connector). Once you get it right, vapor's never taste sweeter.

YIIIIPPPPEEEEE!!!!!!! I got the one I made to work!!! I took apart the connector, soldered new connections and presto! I have a nicostick, working no less! Now, the one that I had made for me. It does not get hot without the atty in and there's enough silicone in there that I can't check continuity. Any suggestions for it?
