Hi,

I have done my best to search, and in fact I found too many answers.

What are the acceptable organoleptic properties of a 10% nicotine base. I mean color, smell, taste (?), etc.

I think the warnings and notices would be much more meaningful to me with a clear and knowledgeable discussion of this point. Otherwise, how am I supposed to know if what I get even begins to be acceptable? Or is anything sensory useless, and we should all use GC-MS (j/k)?

The best points I found are in this thread, but they already seem to know what they're talking about, and I don't - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/qc-research-testing/241673-types-nicotine-base-liquid.html

I'm just confused when the range of answers is that anything from "completely odorless" to "strong chemical smell" is acceptable.

Well as I understand it is this. The more odorless it smells is due to it being more pure. Most nicotine is anywhere from 95-99.9% pure. The more pure it is I am told the less hint of some off flavor. The color that happens over time is due to oxygen. The oxidization of the liquid turns it colors. This apprently happens to all liquid and you can't stop it. Some of the nic has different taste slightly due to the way it is extracted too. Me personally I have noticed a slight difference in "organic extracted nicotine" what this means I have no idea. It doesn't bother me. But the slight hint of something there that I can't describe being in the organic flavorless liquid is present. The only place I know of though I assume there is others is wizard labs. It really comes down to what you find acceptable assuming you trust who you are getting it from.

IMO The perfect 10% nic would be, colorless, odorless and taste just like the carrier it is in. The farther away you get from this the lower the quality. Living in a non perfect world I am happy with really good nic if at 10% it has a slight tan color in larger quantities with a faint musty odor and a slight tobacco taste when diluted to 2.4%.
